I have been trying to understand Motion but nobody explains it like you so thank you Dylan.
Something that might be easy to overlook for anyone coming from any other software like After Effects: this whole thing was realtime, no pre-rendering, waiting for a frame to update (or frames progress bar on top of the timeline), skimming and moving and animating is a breeze, almost nothing chugs for the most part even on quite complex projects (minus DoF and Motion Blur high settings).
Happy to see this channel is exploding, the second 10K chunk seems to have happened at a fraction of the time of the first 10K hope it continues on like this.

I know I'm late to the party since you made this vid over a year ago, but I simply had to comment. I have been designing and developing for the web for over 2 decades. I have ALWAYS wanted to create my own motion graphics without having to rely on other people's assets. But I could never wrap my mind around keyframing. Gonna explore your other tutorials. I liked the pace and detail of this video. I'm a bit on the challenged side; but that's why we can pause or slow down the video/audio. This video accomplished the basics of everything I need to know, to get started using motion.

CHANGING THE ANCHOR POINT, I NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT THAT. I was making a highlight animation a few weeks ago and trying to make it appear left to write was awful (I made a bunch of really big rectangle masks), I didn't think about shifting the anchor point, your brain is massive

Great video. I migrated from After Effects to Motion many years ago and there's no better way to learn any new platform than by forcing yourself through a project. Wish I'd had a video like this back then.

I’ve been studying through my Final Cut and Motion user guides and I came across your video and it helped me so much that I can now do animations and I’m getting really used to using Motion since I just recently bought it for my Mac back in November. Question though, I successfully made this subscribe button but it's on the bottom of my screen when I need it at different locations depending on the video. is it easy to move it around after it's made? it's making all the pieces out of wack when I try to. hi dylan, thank you so much for your tutorial! actually, all of your tutorials!! i followed everything, opened up final cut and the subscribe button was there, but it is giving me that awful red !T error. i checked my finder and it is in (the motion templates>)titles folder. ive tried to resave it, restart motion and final cut, but nothing is working. any suggestions? thank you so much in advance!
