I am born and raised in in the United States of Puerto Rican parents my family have all lived in Puerto Rico and have all passed away. I'm 70 years old now I retired from a medical insurance company in Florida at 62 and moved to Puerto Rico because the cost of living is more affordable for me than it would be in the states I found your podcasts by chance and I want to commend you both for your truthfulness and for keeping it real. I have dealt with all the topics you covered I thought I was going insane with the way things have changed and not for the best. Thank you thank you 👍😅❤

Thank you for your comments! Both Puerto Ricans born in US or who move back to PR and or foreigners all experience the same when a certain lifestyle was their normal for many years. But once the transition phase passes it’s a wonderful life overall. Glad to hear you’re back in PR for your retirement and enjoying the island.

I'm smiling to myself because when you started talking about the weekends, it sounds like South Florida. We are LOUD here. 3 a.m. Tuesday through Sunday. And every neighborhood has a racetrack. 😂 Edited to say that everything you mentioned can be experienced in South Florida times 10. Speeding, crime, overcrowded, and loud, but we don't have mountains or historical sites as old as El Morro. I think for people who haven't lived in similar areas, it might be an adjustment, but it's relative to where you've lived.

I"m a real estate agent in Puerto Rico. Let me say that what you speaks for Puerto Rico, I know it is a hard truth, but it is a reality. The only thing that I don't like is that in your videos, is that you are experts in the field, and not all the Puerto Ricans are not like you explain. And the thing that you express that we are idiots or crazy, is a common thing in many of your videos.

By the way…. I was born in Corozal and was raised in Springfield Massachusetts, but also lived NJ, NY, FL, I retired and moved back to PR a year and a half ago and I’m very happy I made the move. My goods didn’t exactly follow me. My goods just got here three days ago. Nevertheless, I’m happy and the Lord has blessed me. That’s why I always say that miserable people are miserable because they don’t know the Lord at all or how they should.

We worked in the agricultural space in PR and was working on initiatives to help reintroduce to the youth about regenerative farming to help support themselves and general health and well-being as that has also gone downhill. Most foods are exported and imported from countries a far which are extremely low quality.

Hello again. Yes! It's so true, so many talented medicos are leaving the Island, there is definitely a shortage, and it's true that there is concern among health professionals that many of the young graduates do leave in search of opportunity. A lot of what you mentioned about the police is true; still, as you know and also commented, many of the police are devoted servants. I too have family members and close friends on the Island that have served the public trust, or that still serve. People commenting may like to suggest that the police suck, but good and bad police can be found anywhere you go in the world. Paz

The idea of new cars is that the mentality of people is that they need to have a better car that can withstand the horrible roads as opposed to having a crappy car that will get stuck in the middle of the highway and it will take them three days to get home. I’m finding that the mentality of puertorriqueños is very different from what I expected. I know a ton of PRs in the states and the ones that have been “out there” for some time have a different mentality. The newer ones are still adapting. I didn’t understand that till I moved back to the island.

It's based on fact. You have to buy a new car. Have you seen the way they drive? My car is 5 years and I take care of it. I also don't drive like i'm a Nascar participant. It will last me a long time but if I have to get another, in the next 10 years or more, it will be new one again. A used car is a waste of money here unless you buy it from someone like me. And since they drive so recklessly, they always have to keep purchasing new cars.

Puerto Rico is a beautiful island, but unfortunately there are lots of things that need fixing. This is also true of many other places in the states . The thing is, eventually, they get kind of hipnotized and get to accept all that needs fixing as normal or feel helpless. I have lived in the island and I know what I'm talking about. Bottom line, if you are willing to deal with these issues, you'll be fine. If not, then maybe you should not move to the island. And I truly believe that Puerto Rico will never become a state of the United States. That's the way it goes.

There are people that are living in the island that had cancer and all type of diseases and they are cured because they cleanse and eat right. No preservatives. You can live anywhere free of pesticides. If it's about the health system. I think mostly has to do with the person itself. Overall you do what you want with your body but to blame the system. Nana

@@TheBritoFamily I completely agree with you and have an awareness and understanding of the downside of any location you go to. With that being said, I comprehend, what you both said in the last couple of videos that I have seen but at the same time, certain things are completely your own opinion, which you have every right to share. I’m sorry that for you guys and maybe I can understand because of your religious point of view as well that maybe some things culturally bother you whereas for me, it does not. But it’s just having a video where people are already judging the island without even visiting Is what gets me a bit frustrated. I hope you understand my point when I say that, I was born and raised in PR and I’m very patriotic just like many Americans are therefore, when I was forced to go to the mainland specifically New Jersey as a child I knew I had to work get my degree and be financially secure for me to go back home. Now, many of our people Sadly, or not prepared financially, but I did not want to be the small majority of those saying it’s only for the rich white Americans to enjoy PR. 2021 after graduating and after getting a remote job like you said in the previous videos if anyone can make a salary that they would make in the States, then sure Puerto Rico is good and I completely agree because I fall into that category. But at the same time just like you, I have many family members who are doctors nurses lawyers and I can’t speak for your family but for my family which is the reason why I came back home is that the majority of my family still lives on the island and they live a very good middle-class lifestyle. Soy de Adjuntas & apart from family members, I know many people, especially the young people that are getting back into farming whether they’re farming, coffee or plantains I see the positive in Puerto Rico as well. I see a lot of young people into agriculture creating their home into an Airbnb, or starting a local coffee, business shop, or restaurant. That’s all I have to say and I hope you understand, and maybe my mindset is more positive side because I was able to travel to Peru, Panama, RD, and even the state of Hawaii. But by no means, is there any animosity towards you two, a bit of frustration, yes. But I really do hope you’re able to see the positive and bring the positive. Salud y bendiciones desde 100x35

@@anthonyir3408 thank you for sharing your experience and background. Not sure which videos you viewed but we are boricua, our families still thriving in the island and a portion chose to live and establish their homes elsewhere than in PR. We have cousins who are in grade school, high school and university, many issues the next generations are having to deal with and pave their way due to lack support and or opportunity. As you know the education system is limited and not as diverse in PR and there’s a portion of our community who as fed up with such issues or will gladly move back regardless. For ourselves we don’t mind these issues but since our business serves the community we heard stories and witnessed the conditions many live or deal with, and it’s heartbreaking. We have plans to move back and continue the work, but we just all need to pray the next generations have hope and see the potential in PR and don’t allow the same pattern to continue. Otherwise the island will truly become like other places where the locals are few and the expats are many. Many viewers had thoughts on the comparison to other countries, we focused only on PR as many expats looking to move have certain expectations then leave due to the inability to adjust or adapt especially if they have children.
