Apathy Is Death: We Don't Care About New Star Wars Anymore...

- In this video we talk about why we have become apathetic towards modern Star Wars which is all thanks to what Disney has been doing to the franchise that we loved. Not a pleasant experience being a Star Wars fan these days to be honest, but here are our arguments ;)

Our entire channel got demonetized a few days ago (check our community post for details) and in the next 10 days until we try to appeal we will be posting every single day if possible despite not earning anything. Some things won't be precisely edited like this short lore video because we need more "original content" which will have to include random phone recordings which we will try to make interesting. If you want to help us survive until we get monetized again, please help is in the following month at least over patreon since YT is our entire income and keeps the two of us going along with our families: www.patreon.com/thescoundrelscantina
OH SO YOU'RE JUST SALTY BECAUSE YOUR CHANNEL GOT DEMONETIZED LMAO
Ah a sad fact. It’s all a mess thanks to Kennedy’s incompetence. I feel even Kreia would let her have it
Add to that that Kennedy simply doesn't give a f*ck about what SW fans want, or fans of anything else she's poisoned in the last few years. George do you still feel like selling to Disney was a good idea?
@@CarolDowning-lm7fm And do you want a good example of Kennedy's incompetence? Three words: The Last Airbender.
@@CarolDowning-lm7fmYes,George defends them.
I remember when compabies wanted my money, instead of giving me a lecture.
Best of luck to Nelson Peltz
Old Star Wars was honestly so much better, even the little bad content it had still has more charm than the best Di$ney has to offer. At least we can still preserve the EU stuff, and I highly recommend people find a way to archive those stories before the suits get a chance to tamper with them further than the stupid 'Legends' label they've placed on all re-prints.
In a way it was the best thing that could have happened to Star Wars, in that the EU was abandoned in favour of the Disney Timeline. Makes it much easier to separate the two.
@@Aikurisu True, if that hadn't happened we'd have a ruined EU in addition to Disney's canon. This way at least, the EU was preserved intact. Although if it's ever restarted I really hope the clone wars tv show will not be a part of it. The micro series and comics it overwrote were in many ways superior from a lore perspective.
@@beskamir5977 I used to think differently for the longest time but the more I think back on things I'm more inclined to agree. That said, TCW does do a lot of things right and I appreciate what it did for the prequel era in helping flesh it out. Nowadays, though? I don't treat it like gospel.
If anything, I consider it more of a legends outlook that looks at moments during the Clone Wars... from a certain point of view. How true it is is open to interpretation so we can pluck things from it much like how I pluck good things from the Disney Timeline and make them make sense in the EU.
... sure, that basically comes down to Rogue One, Andor and maybe those stories involving Cal Kestis... and perhaps a touch of Bad Batch and Rebels, if only to find a way to let someone like the animated Hera exist. Just not her live-action version, haha.
@@Aikurisu I agree. TCW is pretty cool on it's own. But when considered within the greater Star Wars universe it's pretty bad. Captain Fordo made a couple feature length youtube videos on this subject aptly titled *Why "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" Doesn't Fit In Legends*
@@beskamir5977 Thanks for the recommendation. Been watching them and... yeah. I think I'm at that point where I believe the worst thing to happen to Star Wars was Darth Filoni.
“Apathy is death. Worse than death! Because at least a rotting corpse feeds the beasts and insects!”
At this point Star Wars has gotten so bad that the only emotions you feel for it is sadness because there is nothing there
@@cm9241 idk about children more like teenagers and up
I can’t believe I’m saying this. But I agree. I feel apathy for this franchise. Which is something I did not ever think would happen.
Agreed. Even though I liked parts of Ahsoka, the show overall was insultingly mediocre (the main characters were so bland and the plot armor was laughable). Other than Andor Season 2 and the Donald Glover Lando project I can't say I'm excited for anything Star Wars
Couldn't have said it better. I no longer care about Disney Star Wars. I don't even bother paying attention to Disney Star Wars anymore. I'll just catch up on the memes from a handful of youtubers and laugh at how ridiculous everything's gotten before going back to enjoying EU material.
I dressed up as a Jedi knight for Halloween. Yet I still get told by Disney shills that I’m not a Star Wars fan because I can’t comprehend the “beauty” of the Disney era writing…
Nice thing you made up
@@thomasjohnson1885 thanks, I had to look in the mirror to come up with it.
@@Emma_2Banks I hope you survive the rampant Disney fans that hurt you because as we know the sequel trilogy is such a popular beloved series that people are hating on you for. Poor you
Yeah, apathy is the death knell for anything. Hell, it killed Andor since while the show was pretty good, it ended up not getting an audience because the people stopped caring about the Star Wars IP.
At least I have the old EU as an alternative.
Indeed...0 shits given is the state of the fandom/former fandom. Me, I'm enjoying the doom spiral of the Devil Mouse...for it is much deserved.
Disney Starwars has No Charm, Originality at All.
I believe Disney is trying to do away from George Lucas version and bring there version, wich is the Sequel trilogy..
My Starwars is the original trilogy 1-6
Im fine with the 1-6
I miss games like kotor, I still play both games on my switch since star wars never really did a turn based game after and i'm personally not big on combo types of games. I like how I can press space in the middle of battle in the kotors to think about combat.
There really is no way to be excited for something that in its essense behaves as a money printing machine. A new piece of Star Wars media is just as inoffensive and uninteresting as a new flavor of Coca-Cola. It is something meant to be simply consumed, without needlessly being discussed or pulled apart or analyzed. It simply is a consumer product. It did not start out that way, but rather was a piece of media created by a small group of young people. George Lucas was 33 years old when A New Hope hit the cinema. The movie was made by a way smaller group of people than the conglomerate that is Lucasfilm is today. It was more of a passion project.
I suspect this is what we long for as fans: passion projects, small in scope, big in emotion. They could rather be divisive and have something to say, rather than being rehashes and fanservice checklists. But that will not happen. It is too much of a risk to put out a movie that has the potential to say something wrong. Even the modern movies, that try very hard to be easily-chewn fun rides get people angry for all the wrong reasons, and that is just too much of a financial risk for a studio to take. Remember how fans were angry with actresses because the actresses said less-than-intelligent-lines from a script? This is how high the risks are. There is no way a Star Wars project can evoke anything but emotions of sweet familiarity with characters we already know since a long time ago. This is why we get Ahsoka the Live Action show with badly written dialogue and boring scripts: in order to see live action versions of cartoon characters we saw when we were younger. This is the design-by-focus-group way of creating culture. Or rather, mass-produced, mass-marketed, and mute culture. Disney did the same to the Marvel Movies, and lo and behold: they make money. But that is all they make. They have no soul, no message. Not saying there is no good left in Star Wars: there is, but look further from the large productions. Look at small novels or comics.
Couldn’t have said it better. All content Disney produces lacks substance; there is no heart, no soul, no deeper meaning to the routine garbage they produce. Nowadays, it serves mainly as an ultra-politicized money maker, and sadly too many people don’t possess the awareness to recognize what has happened…
To be honest the only people who should be accused of having an apathetic mentality is Disney, not us. They don’t care whether the content is good or bad, only that it makes money and sells products.
"The opposite of love isn't hate, its apathy."
It's sad.. me and my coworkers were talking about this, just this morning.. we just don't care anymore, the magic of the universe is gone. People argue about whether that's right or wrong on reddit and other places.. I don't know, I can't speak for the world.. BUT I can speak for my friends and co workers and family. These are people who I have known and talked about star wars and other geek stuff since elementary school... and everyone I know is done.. I had a couple of friends who tried to hold out, but last year was the tipping point for them.. If there is any hype nowadays, it's just to see what thing they chose to do, that no one wants to see.. and it's amazing how good they are at doing that.. I don't care so much about casting or who looks like what play what part etc.. I'm just going by my instinct.. and when I watch modern star wars the endorphins are not poppin.. =(
I feel the same. The only change is by us. Remove disney and heal the franchise. But one thing is for certain this wasnt our fault. Kennedy chose this and now its time for responsibility to enter. The bill is due for disney.
@@obiwankenobi687 clone wars s7 was already in production before disney. Rogue One Carrie fisher worked on before she passed away. Mandalorian 1 and 2 succeed because of Luke Skywalker's triumphant return. Which Kennedy was screaming in rage about.
Everything else Mandalorian s3, book of boba fett, kenobi, ahsoka, resistance, disney trilogy, high republic, the acolyte, and. Are all feminist agenda driven trainwrecks. It shows it in the acting, writing, and production. Andor was given the apathy treatment and frankly no one cared it showed in the viewership.the
So 1 to 13 purposeful failures. The numbers don't lie. Kennedy has lost and she did it purposefully.
Congrats... You voiced the same opinion. You did absolutely nothing.
You have to warm to the idea that if Star Wars didn't make huge revenue based on it being one of the original scifi movies, they would have let this whole thing die decades ago. Empire bad.. rebels good... jedis have power but for some odd reason, run away and hide far too often... The advancement of special effects (when compared to the first ever star wars movie) has really kept a stale overall theme producing big revenue. To be fair, MCU is kind of the same thing. How can hollywood print another billion dollars vs. coming up with something new/original?
Hollywood is remaking more and more movies which makes me wonder if they have a shortage of good new ideas being pitched to them.
While I don’t agree I also respect y’all’s point of view. I have to ask does this mean u won’t be making any more Star Wars videos or will u just not be focusing on Disney lore. Either way plz don’t fall into making content u don’t enjoy : )
Amen.
I was gone when Luke threw his father's lightsaber. I knew that second, Star Wars I know was gone. From that point forward, everything apart from few things like Andor (and a few episodes in Mandolorian and that Anakin episode in Ahsoka) just straight up felt like soulless content made for a quick cashgrab. There was no soul in many of the content that Disney made for Star Wars. After Last Jedi, I even told myself EU is still the canon and what Disney does is a bad fanfiction and I still think like that apart from the things that I loved.
I can hear Kreia on my head now.
Who is we?
To quote Dewey from Malcolm in the Middle... I expect nothing, and Im still let down
I hate being in the minority that genuinely still loves Star Wars despite its faults. Yeah Book of Boba Fett could’ve been better. Yes Grogu shouldn’t have been in Mandalorian season 3 and should’ve stayed with Luke. And yes the sequel trilogy could’ve been a lot better. But despite it all I still love it. Does that make me a shill? Maybe. Does it mean I’m a mindless sheep going towards the slaughter? Probably. But I don’t care about that because despite the faults I still care and love Star Wars. I know liking anything is difficult for most people these days because all the big channels with thousands of followers tell you you should hate something but maybe ignore them for once and just let yourself enjoy something on your own terms. It works out great for me.
I used to read every Star Wars comic and watch every movie. After watching the new trilogy I fell out now am completely apathetic. I expect them to be bad I expect it to disappoint me so I no longer watch
🤖Statement: *Apathy... Is... Death...*
"Apathy is death."
If apathy the dish then consider my appetite endless for that I wish and want subsist.
I agree on the whole apathy thing since that's how i feel about current Star Wars stuff. Though i will say that anyone who uses wokeness unironically nowadays just loses credibility imo. Woke is a word that has lost its meaning due to idiots using it for anything they don't like.
Wokeness entails a very specific form of pushing political crap where it's meant to be escapism. On the other hand I would prefer star wars to generally not having any real world politics in it no matter the side.
@@TheScoundresCantina You gotta define what you mean by political crap because you're just being vague here. Are we talking actual galactic politics like we've seen in The Clone Wars and Andor? Or are we talking about something nebulous that you simply call political?
@@TheScoundresCantinaStar Wars with no real world politics? Are you actually joking right now? The OT and PT has more real world politics than the ST
@@methos4866Yeah whenever I see someone say they don’t like Star Wars when it’s political I know they don’t look at anything in the series besides cool lightsaber fights and spaceships. Andor is probably the most “”””woke”””” Star Wars project Disney has put out and it’s not because it has women or lesbians in it
@@methos4866they can’t define anything. They don’t even know what they are talking about. They can’t even tell you what “woke” is. It’s a very simple thing to understand. Star Wars has always been political and now Star Wars has some political elements they don’t like and it triggers them
"Statement: apathyyy is death"
Well said.
-worse then death. At least a rotting corpse feeds the beasts and insects.
Yup. I know I don't care for Disney Star Wars anymore. I mean, I'll probably watch Andor's S2, but that's it.
I walked into several stores today and while I had a passing interest in some Star Wars merch I didn't buy anything. The magic is gone, no thanks to Kennedyfilm.
Yes, I despise what Disney has done to this beloved franchise. But there's a few I like. Rebels, bad batch Mando was cool for like the first season. Other than that ROTJ is the true ending of Skywalker
I firmly believe that it all went to shit when Lucas sold out to Disney and Kennedy took over fully. All downhill from therr with very few sparse good spots like you said.
Womp womp
I mean, I genuinely enjoy “The Mandalorian” despite some issues. And “Ahsoka” was actually good, I honestly don’t understand the hate it’s getting. Sure, it wasn’t perfect, but the first seasons never are, I thought it was a solid first run.
S3 was pure garbage
For me, Star Wars has 2 "versions": The good one, and the Disney one. I reject anything coming from this piece of shit of a company and live happy with the rest x)
Go and actually read the old canon instead of just watching lore videos then
@@gaw6352 ?? Why tf read? I mean the movies

Can George Lucas just buy back Star Wars already? I'm so tired boss
I just want to see luke skywalker get his shine as Master Luke.

Yeah im out lol. Sad to think even star wars battlefront 2 and s2 ending of mando was the closest we'll get to prime luke in the disney era
You guys star wars theory generation tech and others are the only reason why I'm still into star wars to that I say thank you for your ability to keep me and others interested❤❤❤❤
use of the word woke: argument obliterated
If you don't care then why are you still uploading Ahsoka clips?
Yall are so salty for what.. yeah the latest trilogy is shit but the shows have been good, sometimes great star wars content
It's been good for diluting star wars that's for sure. Thanks to the 10 tv-shows they've released in less then 3 years no wonder no one cares about star wars anymore. Less is more and it shows.
The shows have been pretty bad, and the more they have released the shittier it has become. Star wars was better when it wasnt oversaturated with content, it made it more magical and the movies were actually good. I would rather have a couple good movies than many bad shows and movies
I'm starting to hate the three words "Apathy is death." In a decade or two from now, this negativity for modern SW will seem like a bad dream to us all, and we'll look back on it, saying maybe it wasn't all that terrible as we remember. Since they'll be people who've grown up with the new movies and shows by then, and there will be more people resonating with the content we have today by then as well since its the content that got them into SW. The same way the prequel era has retroactively gained its resurgence in positivity today since its the content prequelites grew up with.
Doubt it. Disney hasn't just screwed the stories and the universe and the canon, but they've done the worst thing of all, even worse then pushing their political crap. They turned Star Wars into the MCU where there is too much star wars which completely diluted anything and everything that used to be special about it. The more there is of something, the less it's worth which is the main reason why all franchises that decided to milk their existence into oblivion are getting just that, irrelevance and apathy. It's not only with Star Wars, it's with every single thing that has been turned into a franchise which spins offs and neverending crap. The Original 6 were just that, 12 amazing hours of Star Wars for 40 years. Disney Star Wars has been more then 40+ hours in a single year.
@TheScoundrelsCantina The neutralist in me refuses to believe in the political crap and everything else Disney SW is scrutinized for. There really isn't any dishonor splitting art from artists, whether it'd be George Lucas or Kathleen Kennedy bts. Maybe the MCU comparisons could be more fairer critiques to me than the politics. We're just lucky SW won't be getting a hard reboot of the OG trilogy either as Matthew Vaughn recently voiced to people... so far and hopefully not ever! I'd rather live with the hands we're dealt in Disney's canon between the original 6 and the sequels than see a hard reboot for SW. That would break me a lot more than anything Disney has done to damage the brand for a good chunk of the fan base.
@@TheScoundresCantina can you make Sabine vs Shin episode 4 Fight Scene?
@@AndrewJauregui-ku7pr sorry but youtube emonetized our channel because of the scenes from ahsoka
@@TheScoundresCantina I understand. Thanks anyway.
I think it's fair to claim apathy with an IP and not liking the direction. However, I think it's more the fact that Star Wars doesn't bother to grow up and give more than children entertainment, aside from Andor and one off scenes. You're looking for a boogie man and claiming "groomer" and "woke", ignoring that you're a mouth piece for words that somebody else made up in a culture war fabricated as soon as Finn came on screen in the Force Awakens trailer. But the reality is, you're looking for entertainment that's more engaging than smashing action figures together, Star Wars has always been for everybody and for all ages but that doesn't mean that should be the only thing you consume. It's an old friend you come back to. There's good stories in the new disney canon and EU, like either thrawn trilogies, andor, and post ROTJ novels in the EU. Star Wars is better as a headcanon for most where you pick and choose what you enioy, you'll always have your EU stories regardless of how much it's pretended that "Evil Woke Disney" will steal away your EU. Corps don't care about either side and trying to attribute wokeness and "grooming" to them is like when the LGBT people you claim are ruining hollywood, do the same thing and frame them as allies. It's a big horseshoe that becomes a mirror, just like what you like it's not hard.
I don't know why people don't want more andor content. I'd be happy if every new show was as clever as andor
Finally, someone with sense.
“Groomers at Disney” 😂 seems like your accusation is more of a confession. I love seeing this dying channel ❤
