    Good video, thanks. I will counter, however, that gasoline, especially these days, isn't the best solvent for gasoline-derived deposits. Carb cleaners are better solvents for the deposits and varnish from stale gasoline in a carb. Also, for cleaning jets, a single strand from a wire brush will get in there, and is less likely to open the jet more than you want.

    • @jenniesgarage
      @jenniesgarage  8 років тому +2

      +80sDweeb If you have a really gunked up carb that could be true, but I've always had good luck with gas, even if it needs to soak a while. Nice tip on the wire brush.

    • @mtcman42
      @mtcman42 6 років тому +2

      Best carb cleaning video and instructions I've seen. I have used welding tip cleaners for various carb jets, and they work really well too. I highly recommend pressurized carb cleaner over gasoline because it cuts crud faster and gets into places that just soaking gas will not clean.

    This video was great for demonstrating how to take the carb apart. What I also did was just take the screws out poke the clog out of each screw if there was one, and then soaked it in vinegar I read that some where then soaked it in carb and choke cleaner, then sprayed the carb down with the choke cleaner and it seemed to work excellent

    Honestly good video!! Like simple easy watch no fuss. Just details. Decent footage. Mint. Was worrier about rebuild but your video has given me faith haha. Thanks man. I like that you explain how things worked. Like the float valve and stuff just opened my mine to mechanics of it all.
    So good, I work much better when I understand the operation as opposed to just do this cuz I said.
    Cheers again.

    Great video, thanks! I came here when my XR100R wouldn't idle unless the choke was on. My pilot jet was plugged solid just like yours. It took a long time to unplug. In the end, I could only pass a singe strand of copper wire through it, a tiny hole. Put it back on and it ran like a champ. Thanks again for the great video. PS Lots of 'experts' comment, but they all came to see your video didn't they? Yep. Keep up the good work. How about a float adjustment sequel?

    Yea make sure you don't lose springs, o-rings and washers for those adj screws they can fall right out and you may not even see it. Also make sure u check your float, preliminary idle mixture and idle settings before putting back together. Set them back to factory settings but like he said remember where they WERE if it dont run right.
    Use a dab of anti seize or oil on the carb screws. Rubber lube/armor all on rubber stuff.
