Except you'd all have bought it if you saw it in the news not knowing the backstory. Which is why the backstory, and not the glossy finish is always the most important thing. But we never get it with any of the personal tragedies let alone the national ones. We just get the glossy surface.
The scene was so funny. She casually got out of the car, dishevelled, teary-eyed, drenched and covered with human blood from head to toe, haggardly walking towards Nick, falling in her arms like a victim. When Nick angrily whispered "FUCKIN BITCH !", my lungs failed 😂
@@samkresil6011 She wasn’t trying to frame him here. She was literally just putting on a show, the idea was to make it so that if he left her he’d be seen as a monster. When she finds out he was still willing to leave, she trapped him with a baby.
The sort of intention was that there was a black comedy element in the film, particularly satirising the role of the media in these cases and the traditional gender stereotypes. Even though we as the audience know that Amy’s story is complete bullshit, we view the people around Nick and Amy buying her story as being in a world where genders are still heavily stereotyped.

Yeah, and I suspect that was Ben's input right there. I read this interview from The Hollywood Reporter when he won the Oscar for Argo. The interviewer brought up Gone with the Wind and its director's notes bundle. Ben immediately ordered it from Amazon on his phone. That was 2013, and Gone Girl was released in 2014.
I remember watching this years ago when cinema's weren't as deadly as now but basically, I was holding back my laughter and the girl beside me just HOWLED at this scene I- 🤣🤣🤣🤣
If the movie had ended here it would have been one of my all time favorites. It still would have been just under 2 hours. It would have been fucking perfect.
I honestly felt like this could had been the perfect ending!! Leaves it open for the audience imagination and leaves them questioning what will happen next!
Well far from being happy about her returning he calls her a fucking bitch that about sums up his feelings she's destroyed his life and made people think he killed her
I am a little forgetful but in the book, Nick heard a knocking at the door and noises coming from outside. He opened it and Amy was there, covered in blood and tied marks on her wrist. She fainted after uttering his name and the news took pictures. Nick wanted to kill her there and now but couldn't because of the press so he played it like a drama queen saying "Oh, my wife has returned to me! Thank God!" and hugged her. With his lips near her head, he whispered "F@#$in' bitch."
From the POV of the audience that mostly see it from Nick's POV, this is wayyy too theatrical to even be believable. But from the POV of the masses it is ABSOLUTELY the type of shit the publoc falls for all the time.
Am I wrong for imagining Rosamund Pike as Selina Kyle/Catwoman in the DCEU opposite Ben Affleck's Bruce Wayne/Batman? I'm thinking that during his 20-year career fighting crime in Gotham, they should have a history together, so she should be getting up there in age, though she would still be some years younger than Bruce.
Someone please answer me this. Actually, a second before this scene starts on the screen you can see letters saying that this is the 30th day after Amy dissapeared, but she actually killed Desi 21 after she dissapeared, which means there are almost 10 days of her being free, sort of speak. My question is: what did she do all those days?
Out of context its funny, but when you see all of what she did in chronological order its kind of hard to stop gawking in horror to laugh or make jokes.
Not on her side, but I think if she had forced herself to cry before she came back and kept the crying going after, it would have been a bit more dramatic. And maybe if she did something to her ankle to get a bit of a limp. Otherwise a great scene.
See I watched this on FX they cut out all the f bombs, majority of the sex scenes. They cut out the ending with 'scooping out brains'. But even without all of that, great movie!
Definitely an accurate depiction of marriage. Never knew a married couple who didn’t hate each other but play face for public and family image. It’s all about perception instead of reality.
The entire cinema was trying not to laugh in this scene, just at the sheer shamelessness of how she stages it and poses for the cameras.
+mzytryck Oh I laughed hysterically

I kind of feel like she was making it look as if its HER blood or had no time to wash it off because she was still trying to frame him.
@@samkresil6011 she left the blood on her on purpose, it fits with her story

One of the funniest scenes in a serious crime movie
I concur

The pose was a homage to the Gone With the Wind poster.
Never noticed that. Good eye. I suppose the hypocrite and the cad dynamic works here too.
Oh yeah, just did a research about the poster, Ben and Pike's pose is exactly the same as Gone With The Wind poster

Amy returns home like John Doe at the police station.
Pedro Bakale they are both very similar, they even have the same director
Nice catch
Nick. Nick. NIIIIIIICK! You're looking for me
