Funny thing, if you start with Germany on the TSL of civ 6 (not the mod one) and France is in the game your warrior is 1 tile away from their settler, you can just defeat them and start with 2 cities lol
Poland has been historically in a decent position geographically. It was the gate between western and eastern europe and had a lot of trade going through it. What's more, Poland never really had any issues with its neighbours and wasn't actually occupied fully until 1795 which is very late in its history. Before that it was a powerful state.

Fun fact you actualy CAN win the game without irrigation, but to do so, you need to focus on production and conquer a lot of enemy cities. They will just do irrigations for you.
You could have built 1-2 builders, went for stonehendge, and boosted it by cutting ALL THOSE WOODS AROUND YOU! OMG :D. Actually you could have just boosted buildings and military units by cutting those woods.
TheChickeninspector I think they put the cpatials that where historic for the time that the leader is from. St. Petersburg was the capital of Russia when he was tsar. Krakow was the cpaital of Poland unilt the 17th century.
Poland is really nice to play, difficulty but a really good civ so it's just waiting for hussars then doing your polish invasion. I'm not sure about civ 6 Poland tho

The Iron Historian Actually, the cities are where the current capitals are because of the mod he's running, it makes it easier to balance to what the mod was in Civ 5
In a world war one era Germany is more of a threat firepower wise, but Russia had landmass and numbers, in WW1 Your average German soldier would have killed roughly six Soviets before dying ( I think) Russia had less trained soldiers but alot of them, German soldiers were excellently trained but.. Had less forces.

How did you add more than 8 civs to a true map start? Options do not appear to let you change how many city-states and civs you want in the game.

samuelepsteing technically Warsaw would have been under the duchy of mazovia and Krakow was the capital of the kingdom of Poland so it's not far off
