I trained with Prof. Karim for almost 2 years, did Wing chun for a year and a half, took Judo classes for about 3 years, studied taekwondo while in South Korea for my MSc and began taking Shotokan Karate when i got back state side last year. One thing you get to learn after a while is that its not truly the art that makes you a good fighter, Its you that makes you a good fighter!!! You are the weapon, how you use it depends on you. OSU!!!
Alhamdulillah" this brother has a wonderful human and spiritual demeanor. I've had the privilege of working with him in the security field. He is definitely a contributor to the quality of the arts. Good brother. Much love" musa Aziz. Thank you brother.
I've been looking at the comments. Some of them are quite disgusting. I am no martial artist. I'm a musician. But having come to mastery of something, I recognize mastery in others. Additionally, I have known Professor Karim personally for a number of years. He is one of the most honerable men of my acquaintance. Those who hurl childish and idiotic insults at him dishonor only themselves, and reveal their own low character.
I think all you folks that don't recognize this as the real deal better look again.....lol, I'm a yondan in a great Japanese Ju jutsu system and my eyes are being opened by listening and watching this man. Can't you see the harmony and Chi in his movements? I don't know, maybe its because I studied Chinese arts too. Just my opinion. Osu Professor !!!
This tradition of dyeing the beard is a tradition established by our beloved Prophet of Islam,Muhammad(saws). In Islam there is merit and virtual following the Messenger of Allah(saws).
I would love to train with this guy. I can tell there alot of people and trolls on here that never studied or maybe mastered an art a day in their life. When you go to any school of arts you are learning training skills for basic attacks. Just because you learn mma and watch the ufc doesn't make you a fighter. Just as with all arts fighting styles are a effective Shitting on one style doesnt make one better. Even the great Bruce lee realize the value of learning many techniques hence the birth of jeet kwon do. Martial arts doesnt make you invincible, neither does having a gun. But at least with proper training if you ever in a situation to have to protect self in combat these skills are extremely useful.
I would enjoy training w him. I really enjoy his philosophy and he explains very well and enjoy and actually learn some things from his video. Thank you for sharing w us your knowledge. What area are you in. I would enjoy participating in your classes.
@Wargumm1i I knew as soon as I saw your comment that you have never been on the floor with Duncan or any of his top students. My background is mostly in the Chinese and Okinawan arts but the brief time I spent with his students was eye opening. These guys don't have to call themselves masters. Get on the floor with Duncan or any of his top students and I guarantee you'll leave there humbled and have a new understanding of mastery.
I'm very sure is not the technique that doesn't work, but the way to train it. One thing is to train it against an opponent who is not moving at all, and other thing is to train it against an opponent who is actually trying to hurt you.
In my opinion the arts are not racist. Actually I am white and in my opinion this is very practical. I study ninjutsu and I don't see anything wrong. His stand of ichimonji is different than I see but I disagree. Very practical.
I am not westerner and I choose my words wisely. We follow the path of great warriors but we are not those great warriors and that's because that time is gone.
can anyone tell me some more detailed infos of this martial art and is the name of this martial art and are there any branches around the world and can you get online tutorials of it
I would highly recommend anyone get a chance to train with Karim Sensei. You'd have a lot less to yammer about. He is a very kind and passionate man. Quite effective I assure you. I have taught along side him at seminars. Great man. Also, maybe do some research as to why he'd dye his beard, try not being so ill informed.
ninjas weren't trained to be assasins- they were trained to do whatever the master wanted them to do- they had an array of skills which included assasination- they were spies, and sabatuers and whatever they needed to be. Ninja master- true masters don't reveal themselves.
He is good! I see a lot of racist comments because he is a black master. If he was chinese there would be none. Any black martial artist or fighter that is master level is a joke to people @JakeFrierson and @yogurt1337 pure racist.
some may do it just like any other trend, it starts out as part of a particular groups culture and it is admired and then imitated. Some may do it for that reason. But since his name has a islamic condentation Ali Abdul Karim, I'll assume he does it for cultural reasons
@Danny Oxford just to let you know and not start a flame war. in akido there are many techniques that you dont even need to touch someone with your hands and as for the falling well...if the students didnt do that they would very well end up badly hurt or dead. i spar a freind that does akido and i do a lot of flips making sure not to be broken in half.
kick to the back and then to what the achilles tendon? I cant really tell. Looks like it would require alot of practice to execut this particular movement correctly.
at the end of the day- Can hatsumi, fight?- he know all the techniques and everything , but the true test is, can that man fight? it don't matter what the titles mean- can they fight?
But I failed to add that I agree with you in some areas and you make a lot more sense than others. But let me be clear that I like MMA and have been watching since UFC1/K1Pride.
you may think this stuff don't work, but think of it this way, the samurai, the most strongest most feared warriors in history, were defeated by this very martial art, and I follow the samurai way, and even I am impressed and curios of this martial art that wipped out the samurai long ago
The Japanese considers original Japanese martial arts Kendo,Shorinji Kempo,Judo,Akido, and so on to be part of their national heritage, and as such documents the lineage, and authenticity of it's arts, therefore a quik trip to a Japanese embassy will put you in touch with the organization that will swiftly debunk these "Mutant NInja Turtles"
100% accurate, every representative of the Japanese Martial Arts community has said Hatsumi and all these guys are not authentic. and the art no longer exist, but these guys don't want to spend the time an energy to research!
@zsoujiro well said. try telling that to most of the people in my city. to bad that the ufc and whatever has lead people to think that what they see is real fighting(combat training)
@imil101 I dunno if you noticed him talking in the video.. He would appear to have an American accent, meaning that he is already in your country. And no one in the world can avoid gunshots or gang whoopings. But that's why not everyone lives in the ghetto. Just saying.
It's hard, because there is alot of people who say they're senseis etc. But eerrmm... I found this one near Queens that seems legit but I haven't been there to be honest :P if you want to know about it, tell me :S
There is another dojo called Bujinkan Maten Ninjutsu Dojo NYC located in 28th St & Lexington. Manhattan. Have I been there? No, but I do wish to know more about it.
I asked them that question myself on Facebook. They haven't gotten back to me yet. I asked them 4 questions. 1. How many styles of jutsu do you teach there? 2. How much is it to join? 3. Are there any prerequisites that I need to know? 4. Can anyone learn ninjutsu regardless of their nationality?
mixed martial arts comprises all or most of the systems you listed. Fighters including Lyoto Machida, Jon Jones, Anderson Silva and Shinya Aoki have all trained in traditional martial arts. It's not wise to assume that mixed martial artists have no background in other fighting styles. MMA is the evolution of martial arts. It offers practical solutions to real life situations and, for the most part, is free of the mcdojos and bullshido of traditional martial arts.
well...if you just stand there and let this um ninja master do his devistating kicks I think this would work, but if you put up resistance...well thats a diff story.
I think anyone who's being too critical needs to remember that yes it's your opinion but he has lots of videos and if you want to create and share an opinion watching more than just a trailer would help. and also remember that shitting on him for his content doesn't improve you or what anyone thinks about you so acting like you're superior or claiming it's bullshit gets no one anywhere. You want to challenge it? message him, try these things and analyze them. You can take it with a grain of salt but it doesn't make anyone right.
ninjutsu + shorinji kemp + wing chun= devastation, honestly i dont understand why people stick to only one discipline i know if you wanna master somthing stick to it but people need to stop hating on other forms just because they practise TKD or kempo or whatever they practice and start to adopt new styles into the discipline(s) they already know you would get better results, i know some people might says thats just mma, look at jeet kun do it works and works well! many styles into one!
MMA is not a Martial Arts. However, TKD, Shotokan, Kung Fu, Wing Chun, Jui Jitsui, Goju Ryu, Judo & Hapkido are martial arts. MMA is new, has no definite history and gives a lot of people excuses not to take up a REAL system and put work in, rearn it, get promotions and the like. Royce Gracie is an MMA competitor, but that uniform he competes in comes first.
Thank you for the video, although there is no specific demonstration of the technique and real sequence of events the idea is somehow understood. I'd like to see if you could change the music, it does not match nor it inspires much!
@WahkibaJ That was a bit American-ish. Indeed Masaaki hatsumi is very old, and his brain may not have the same knowledge and movements arent like they used to be, but Hatsumi inherited everything, and he is not of Taijutsu bloodline. He just proved that he had it in him, a kind heart willing to learn, and followed the true path of Ninjutsu. But I have to say I disagree about Duncan, indeed he may be knowledgeable and great martial artist, but he has long abandoned Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu.
@imil101 "can they fight?"... that's what you think that matters? The question is... why the hell would a person like Hatsumi Masaaki have to fight? ...for money? I think he got enough of that already, and not cheating, just teaching, to a lot of people. You don't train Martial Arts for fighting, and what you people call MMA and stuff, isn't real fighting either. I don't know if you train something or not, but you have to analyse why you train it. Fighting is just a fraction of martial arts.
I know nothing of McDojo's & Bullshido's....I can't share a comment on that because that's not my experience. I got mine from when I was a child back in the 70's, so I do have a right to form my opinion. BTW, I'm aware of all the guys you've listed, as I'm a serious UFC-Head and what Zuffa does for the sport....luv it!!! MMA is an application of various arts, it's not a STYLE!!! Wikipedia never puts MMA in the right column, only their disciplines. Check Silva! PEACE!!!
I trained with Prof. Karim for almost 2 years, did Wing chun for a year and a half, took Judo classes for about 3 years, studied taekwondo while in South Korea for my MSc and began taking Shotokan Karate when i got back state side last year. It is truly fantastic to see a teacher with actual skill perform techniques.
I've been looking at the comments. Some of them are quite disgusting.

cool back kicks to the legs it must be very tricky in a fight..

Can everyone shut the hell up and admire this man's bearded wisdom? Sweet lord...

Kould i get info on ninjutsu masters in pomona ca.

@zsoujiro
well said.
try telling that to most of the people in my city.
