You missed the 2 missing componets to top right hand side of the IC chip on the top of the board
Whenever is see boards in this state, I often think another repair Tech sent it in anonymously to test ones skills. It can’t be possible for someone to create such a masterpiece. Grand effort gets a 👍🏻 from me. 🇬🇧
Sadly, shops make messes like this every day. Guys get a paint stripper and some flux, and think they are technicians.
UA-cam doesn't help either... to some degree. People see what looks like really easy repair work done on a video and think hell yeah man, I can do this. And they quickly find out, no... they cannot.
It always nice to stream both winning n no fix videos cos that actually shows how transparent the technician is. If also helps the learning technicians to understand that there is win n loss. It truly helps the mind n understand the nature of business. Great video man thx nice again
I agree that in some cases you don't need every ground pad but in cases where there are vias that connect to those pads then I think you may need those connected. In cases where there are two vias connected on one pad you may need to at least connect the two vias. Sometimes they are needed not just for full power delivery but some devices need them for detection of a proper cable capable of full power. It's tedious but sometimes necessary.
Another amazing video, would love a Q&A video answering questions like where you learned electronics etc.. Keep up the amazing videos.
Love how you still post a vid even thou a fix was not accomplished.
All the best from the UK!
Its to proove to the customer that he worked on the board.
@@hansuwe9114 I gathered that.
I meant that others would just post all successful videos, when the reality is that not everything is a success!
Keep em coming 👍
Thanks for uploading especially this video as it takes lot of courage to shows the failure, many youtubers can't do it so that their channel will get more subscribers.Keep uploading we will always supports you .Even I don't skip ads every time I watch your videos.
There are 2 resistor missing next to the M92T36 chip, they are next to the letter M
Yes. If i can remeber this are 2 resistences
2 x 100k resistors
This is called honesty. No one shares those videos where they are not successful. 👍👍
Ohh dude! I came here before finish to watch the video and you spoiled me! Haha! ^_^
A coin on the joycon dock connector to protect it from the hot air, that's pretty clever!
Even though this board was a fail, I still learned from your video, thank you very much.
I should say you are best teacher teaching for free educating whole heartedly
It always good to thin the usb port also, to make sure it really connected.
Too risky for such a small reward, especially on the switch ports with the 2 rows of pins easy to bend them and u can’t see what ur doing behind the first row
@@neuclearb0mb well, what else is there to do? The port has to be replaced.
I have been using conductive gold and silver paints on repairs on my Soviet quartz watches as I haven't the skill to do little wires and I can make nice little tracks if I mask it off carefully enough. The problem is when the battery's go on these old CCCP quartz beasts, usually the owner just chucks it in the drawer and forgets about it and few weeks down the line the battery explodes inside and because the circuit board traces are micron thin tracks, the battery acid neatly dissolves unprotected areas before munching on the viton sealing rings turning the whole insides into a black goo corrosive mush and a lot of work as the coils end up dissolving as well.
OMG I got a sunburn from all that UV that you exposed me to!!! How dare you!! 🤣🤣🤣
Great material! Thank you
It's also refreshing for an American to pronounce the word "Solder" correctly too. The Americans usually say "Sodder" which is grammatically incorrect.
You should for sure just correct every grammatical error you come across, people really appreciate that. It's almost as if people have other things to worry about or don't give a flying fuck.
Binge watching your videos lately, Masha Allah very nice quality jobs done.
Thanks for the info on enamelled and non enamelled wire.
Congratulations 🎉🎉 50k subscribers
great attempt brother. Fix or None, its an experience that viewers value and learn from. The way you drown the pads in flux and then go over it with soldering pen with some solder on them is still a technique I am yet to master and this video I learned how the ground pads dont need to be replaced and as for the pads and soldering application for reflow, its best to flux out and make sure the flux is coverin the pads and then run the solder pen with solder quickly and the pads will flow and pickup the solder quickly. Thaanks Alex. :). Wish you would disclose the solder tip size? I am still waiting since March 23 haha. Please comment here or text me back if possible when you're free for a second. Weller wXMP what size tip or part number, thanks in advance :). - Ari
Little tip: enameled wire can be found and reclaimed from broken audio speakers of cellphones or transformers from cellphone or laptop chargers. I never buy wire because I always use reclaimed wire and always get a good result. Greetings!
Thanks thanks thanks!! I have learned a lot from your videos! You are a genious!
What temps where you using on your reflow/hot air
Hi, good up to the point videos. Very neat workmanship. Learning something new in your video. God bless you. 👍
🐖
Love what you do and how you teach. When you reflow with the heat gun what temperature and airflow do you use... I seem to either burn the board or not melt. Doing my own stuff. Keep uploading the vids and thanks from the uk
It may be a good idea to test different temperatures and air flows on a non working PCB as practice.
Would be awesome if the owner donated the board so you could dive into this one "off the clock". I think it would be very interesting.
What about the bridge between the two capacitors? Or should they bridged?
I love your videos, cant stop watching them.👍
Bridge cleared but it doesn't really matter. The components are bypass capacitors. Any line going to any capacitor is ok.
@@NorthridgeFix How can I identify if it's a bypass capacitor?
Also, what are the temps you were using for the hot air?
Love your videos, you are a real pro! Seems almost easy when you do it 😃
@@laboratorioassembler WOW! It's new to me. Firstly, THANKS! :)
As my understanding according to what you say, I f it has one side shorted to ground it's a bypass cap, So
how can I measure if a cap is good or not?
The way that I know is that one side should beep in continuity mode and the other won't..
Those two bridged caps are the hot sides of 2v8 LDO and 1v5 LDO. If they are touching I don’t think that the chip will turn on.
I have this bridge in two nintendo swtich and works fine but i remove after....
Did you put the coin to make sure that heat don’t go to connectors
you forget to remove the short from that chip
@@graphicscardtech3167 yeah
@Miguel Ortega yeah i know that ilove this man just went to remind him that's it
@@Slowed_and_reverb_place thats real support right there bro. 💯
That wasn't a short, those 3 caps are coneccted to the same line so if they are bridge or they aren't the switch should work just fine
@@mauriciogonzalez5891 actually they aren't, they are all connected to ground, but each one is connected to a different pin on the chip
I love how knarly your tweezers are, they've seen some shit lol
Thank you for No Fix Videos because I spent sometimes to much time for nothing try to fix
What type of Microscope do you use?
Can you advice me what thermal camera to buy about 300 euro? Thank you
You do great work. I like watching your videos.
Nice work 👌
Thank you for sharing
Just one question how much heat and air speed do you usually use to remove or get back in components.
Thanks
I think can be ic near tegra, is under. This ic is damage when people remove conector from speaker.
The customer made a possible repairable job into a mission impossible.
You doing good work,
Hello, I am a follower of you, and I would like to know what kind of Microscope you use, thank you
I'm skeptical the guy reflowed the CPU that's why it's a no fix situation. He probably learned a hard lesson on that attempt. Anyways still flawless repairs. Keep posting videos Boss. God bless.
good day sir i always watching your videos,,, may i know the exact model of your flir cam txn

thank you for your effort
my nintendo switch have 0.60 amps drawn, not working but all ic are fine.
What could be the problem?
On the upper side the ESD-protection ist Missing.
Part Nr. TPD2E1B06DRLR
what is that component? i have thist problem :(
How much is the temp and air flow of the quik? U used to solder back the type c port.
U did not remove the solder on The bridged cap next to the charging IC.. do not if u do it off camera
420c hot air. Bridge removed but not a concern. The 3 components next to each other are bypass capacitors. Any line going to any capacitor is ok.
It is getting very difficult for me to remove shorting from tv mother board if I use benchpower supply the main ic is getting burnt sir iam your regular follower please make a video on short finding when you are free . Love from india
You forgot the breach on the 2 filters
It sucks, switch most of the time has shorts somewhere and if its not generating heat its very hard to repair since there is no schematic, cant tell there traces go,like. I have one right now i have short in 2 areas, pulled chips off still shorted, it turns on but gives error 2002-4364
Over m92 chip this board missing 2 resister.
Hey! I stopped by a few times and after watching your videos, I’m extremely interested in tech repair. Are you still offering your classes or do you plan on still pursuing your monthly classes on repairs?
We have over 600 inquiries for Training. I'm working on this and planning out the best way to run classes during the pandemic.
@@NorthridgeFix Will this be online courses?
NorthridgeFix I was the donut guy who brought in the dozen! I hope you enjoyed them because it seems like you’re putting in a lot of work on your end. Don’t forget to take a brake every once in awhile. Thank you for helping me with my PC. I watched your recent switch video and I saw you pointed out my comment and it made my day! Will sign up for your classes as I’m local!
Damn you can really tell that he took it personally when it didn't work. I legit felt bad
What brand of UV light are you using? And do you sell solder mask?
For my opinion, it's just a solder mask. Any solder mask will do.. :)
What are you using on the Q-tip? Is that alcohol or something else?
IPA
WATCHING FROM UGANDA THANKS
Brother i broke a points on charging port can you help me
16:07 I feel for you
men i didnt have a donor boards here that things didnt works. where di you find donor boards..? i need a little resistance where its the p13usb accidentally i blows up and didnt notice that men im stock here please hep

Obrigado!
good day #boss, can we have a video on your lab setup and all tools that you are using??
i love when he say just like that 👌
I don't understand the assumption that the previous repair attempt involved replacing all those ICs. Isn't it just as likely the other guy tried to simply reflow them the same way you did?
Perhaps the issue is actually with one of the ICs, but the other guy tried the basics too (and botched the USB-C port and left a mess to boot) but gave up under time and parts constraints?
Good luck from morocco 💟
@6:50 i panic too... no worries.
You are the Bob Ross of Board repairs. Love watching your Vids 👍👍👍👍
Thermal??
Life's hard. We must assume that there's unfixable things if others attempted to repair first with no luck.
It's not that it's unfixable -- it can be fixed. Unfortunately for customer, the value of the device is too low for a busy shop to explore that rabbit hole.
@@hightttech I thought we were talking about an already roasted board. "Too much heat received", said the expert on the video.
@@deathtrap1976 : Hello. I am confident that Northridge Fix (NF) can repair that board. The real obstacle is money. If customer give NF a blank check and challenge him to fix it, he will. Ugly boards are repaired by competent techs every day as long as someone is willing to pay.
I’ve seen nicer donor boards. In every field there are people that work on things until they can’t be fixed. Then it passed to someone else. I feel your pain brother. Same thing happens to me.
As a system software developer, at least I had the advantage of backing out the previous developers changes through version control. This was very upsetting to see; it seems who ever worked on the board took the shotgun approach, no plan.
Mashallah brother 👍 your work is like art. It's quite satisfying to watch your videos. Keep going 😁
When do you call it and just buy a new main board for it
Awesome ✌️✌️✌️
Keep it up
Nice job and video
You are amazing sir 👍
Someone made a total mess and passed the remains on thinking it could be fixed. I hate working on something someone else has ‘tried’ to fix. Hacks me off the quality of work that cowboys pass off as good.
he probably checked the fuse
U didn't see shorted to cap
6:34 Enamled wire hmmm
Did the last guy not have any Iso ffs?
your d best... salute!!!👍
I thought my first repair attempt was bad.
You should charge this person double for making such a mess of the pcb
UA-cam is getting terrible. 4: ads in 1 min
Can you fix my switch I love your work!!
Why they are trying to change the realtek chip it doesn't affect anything 😂 its just for the aux out and speaker
Very good
My question is what in the world did this person do to their switch to warrant this level of repair? Like the joy cons will get damaged but jeez
there is a ripped pad that is a through hole connection you didn't make pad may be that cause the problem.
what is the name of the flux?
From previous videos he has two different types of Amtech flux, which is sold on their website.
@@Infiniti25 which type of flux he used to fix ic, thats I'm very interested.

Even not fix is possible to charge the costumer? How to explain? is costumer no choice to disagree? Tnank you
Great video on why diy repairs,, or repairs at non reputable repair shops need to be avoided. Teach people to even check some reviews, most don’t, most people look for cheap promises and disappointment
You can also repair welding. Repair broken wires. Nothing. This is just technology? 😂😂
I think the customer will just give away the switch to you.
I think someone just troll you ;) What a mess.
👍
That one looked terrible and whoever did the prior repair attempt shouldn't even touch a board
I would like to work with you without salary. Seriously...
Repair attempt fee? Nice wish I could charge a repair attempt fee, We don’t fix it we don’t charge the customer at my shop
It looks like work was done on this chip😂😂😂.what work??really what work?😂😂
The work of trying to desolder it, solder it and/or maybe reflow. That kind of work (that can only be done on a chip..)
why were you even thinking it would be that easy after seeing such a messed up job lol
Some one hates the switch.
