In a picture-telling activity, the teacher stands at the front of the class with an image in hand. The image can be in a book, on a postcard, displayed on a mobile device, etc. It is important that students cannot see the image but knows that it is there. The teacher then communicates the image as a storyteller would.

The potential for language, engagement, valid meaning, enjoyment, embarrassment, and memory consolidation is as subtle and evocative as it is bold and powerful (not to mention empowering)...Such a seemingly simple practice while also possessing such profound meaning with useful and easily attainable benefits for everyone involved - from the learners to the teacher! That’s surely a win-win situation!
