As a normal adult who occasionally likes to play minecraft... I build in the middle of nowhere and talk to no-one unless buying and selling things. The Minecraft community is like LA, you want as much distance from them as possible.
I have a realm and I've been playing this game since it came out. I am 32 and have a 5 year old son who loves to play Mario games on the Nintendo switch. What the actual f is happening out there with these psychopaths? It's really so sad to see all of this happening. I swear... It cannot be Minecraft itself that causes this. Or perhaps it's the fact that it caters to younger ages as well? My oldest bro who is 39 just discovered the magic of Minecraft and he has a two and a half year old boy that isn't his (the boy belongs to the woman he is currently dating) and the little guy just loves watching my bro play and build stuff. Like I just cannot wrap my head around this. I think people get into streaming to build a young audience and most of the time they are ALAWAYS creepy. Just like how anyone can go to a police academy and eventually through hard work, become an officer of the law only to become an individual who abuses said powers. I think it's a similar thing. 🤷 Edit: and lemme just add that I'm antisocial. I don't particularly like to socialize with younger peeps. I'm the series x and I have my own small group of online friends who are similarly my age etc.
I would like to say that what people genrally refer to as the "MCYT fandom" is more of the "DSMP (Dream SMP) fandom". I've been in the Hermitcraft fandom for 3-4 years (as well as empires and life series since they came out) and have almost only ever seen positivity, it's the DSMP fandom that is insane. Genuinely, I just like my favorite MC creator's content. When he mentioned he was getting married, I was like "oh good for him" then moved on, and I've only ever bought one piece of merch (and it's because my friend convinced me I should). It's not that hard to not obsess over your favorite content creator. Moral of the story: this is not an mcyt community defense comment, the "mcyt fandom" is more of fandoms for individual creators and SMPs than one fandom, and it's mostly DSMP fans that are insane.

I loved hearing you're points on this, a lot of these things really had to be said. I just wanted to share my thoughts, as a MCYT fan myself, and a fifteen-year-old girl (you were scarily accurate about the demographic, ngl): I think that, as some people have said in the comments, the bad reputation that the minecraft community is getting is similar to other celebrity communities, where there are people (fans) who are obsessed with other people (celebrities), and their whole life is the main attraction. Making certain people or certain things you're entire personality is not a new thing, nor a MCYT thing. I was studying the writing style of gossip magazines, and one reference was just going on and on about the british royal family and getting really into their personal space in a written sense. Due to the internet letting people who have a bandwidth get international fame, all sorts of different kinds of people can be MCYTs, and so you get the bad with the good, and when people do become famous, they'll either manage it wisely, or get high on the attention and get over confident. And I think that over confidence is contagious. Humans will mimic the behaviors of those they admire, it is the highest praise one can give. And so people will say things to try to get attention as well. I guess what I'm trying to say is that yes, every community as terrible people, and with this community being so reliant on the internet and a fairly high energy videogame, the worst parts of the fandom will be absolutely terrible. But I believe that there are good parts of this fandom, just as there are good parts in any fandom. But there's a reason why you never hear about them. With that said, I'm going to continue with my day, ponder on these ideas, and enjoy the lore of the life series. Thank you for the lovely video :)

There is considerable overlap and a concerning pattern where once UA-camrs hit a certain sub count, especially if they’re Minecraft UA-camrs, they will become or be called out over diddling kids.
If Wilbur is actually innocent, that would mean that all of his friends, all of the people who know him in real life, are lying about this situation. I don't think that's the case and it's sad that people are being or believing contrarians who are only supporting Wilbur because they want clout.

Tbh, i was kind of sad that some of my favorite minecraft youtubers were bad people, like lionmaker, and apparently skydoesminecraft? But im still really happy that people like stamp and iballisticsquid were beautiful kind individuals. Most of the minecraft ogs were great. And should be the only ones people care about. I have been making Minecraft content for about 1 year or 6 mouth's where I have actually taken my UA-cam channel seriously (and only have 21 subs at the time of this comment) and I have never liked these big Minecraft youtubers like Dream. And I have never wanted to be like them, it also just sucks that almost every one in the Minecraft community is just so negative about every new update if it is not what they wanted. We just need to let people play and enjoy the game for what is, and not be so mad about things like the mob vote. So if to who ever is reading this just play the game how you want and be happy because that is what Minecraft was and is meant to be about.

The thing about Minecraft is the same as pokemon, it attracts kids and the community is mostly kids, so you will always find the grownup "hunters" getting into the community to find "game". Some communities are like honeypots and predators will naturally be attracted to that, it's not that Minecraft turns people, it's that the people who play are either kids, people on the spectrum (and there is nothing wrong with that), and predators. Of course normal grown ups also play and that is fine.

I'm a minecraft creator and I'm trying to not get called out for anything. Its always the dream SMP though, Tubbo was accused of SA and then immediately disproved it because of a bunch of holes in the story, its crazy.

Tbh, i was kind of sad that some of my favorite minecraft youtubers were bad people, like lionmaker, and apparently skydoesminecraft? But im still really happy that people like stamp and iballisticsquid were beautiful kind individuals. Most of the minecraft ogs were great. And should be the only ones people care about. Not these new guys who ruined the look of this community.

I have been making Minecraft content for about 1 year or 6 mouth's where I have actually taken my UA-cam channel seriously (and only have 21 subs at the time of this comment) and I have never liked these big Minecraft youtubers like Dream. And I have never wanted to be like them, it also just sucks that almost every one in the Minecraft community is just so negative about every new update if it is not what they wanted. We just need to let people play and enjoy the game for what is, and not be so mad about things like the mob vote. So if to who ever is reading this just play the game how you want and be happy because that is what Minecraft was and is meant to be about.
also what i have noticed is that in a minecraft server, there will always be people online all of the time. dont they have stuff to do? i get grinding but refusing sleep and never stopping is just an addiction

The thing about Minecraft is the same as pokemon, it attracts kids and the community is mostly kids, so you will always find the grownup "hunters" getting into the community to find "game".
Some communities are like honeypots and predators will naturally be attracted to that, it's not that Minecraft turns people, it's that the people who play are either kids, people on the spectrum (and there is nothing wrong with that), and predators. Of course normal grown ups also play and that is fine.

I usually play mc by myself but when i do go online i try to get better at like pvp and stuff andi talk to no one. I just play like skywars or lucky block or something (i still stuck at pvp lol). I watch a bit of mc content but i had like no idea these allegations were going on (i dont use my twitter acc a lot) and tbh i prefered that. Twotter sucks, some mc creators suck, some are good, and its probably best if you stay out of sides or ignore it cuz really, when was someones personal life ur business.
