I hope Kings Island continues to use storylines for their future coasters. I enjoyed the anticipation leading up to the announcement and watching on UA-cam as they built Orion. Orion is one of my favorite coasters and lived up to my expectations.
Amazing rollercoaster. Just...amazing. Never a dull moment. Although the wave turn was a great idea, I think its mostly just cool to look at the ground from that angle
Have to tell the story here. I came back to Dayton, Ohio last summer to visit family- and of coarse had to hit my favorite park Kings Island with my buddy while I was there. I bought shorts with zipper pockets just so I didn't have to worry about my stuff. Well we decided to hit Orion first, might as well! We had fast passes so it was pretty much walk on. I turned to take on last picture of the lift hill before entering the station and jumping right on the ride. We went back thru the line for a reride, while I was walking back thru I noticed I lost my phone- in my excitement I forgot to zip back up my pocket! I was bummed as I'm still technically paying on my new phone but we stayed and rode everything multiple times, had to enjoy the passes while we could. I decided to track the phone when I got home and noticed it was moving thru the park. I put in a lost item report and planned on heading back to the park the next morning to find a smashed phone. Well KI called before I had a chance to leave the house to say they found my phone and crazy enough it doesn't have a single scratch on it- and I don't use a beefy case for my S20 Ultra. Miracles do happen! I left the 'Orion' lost item sticker they put on the back of my phone as a happy reminder. Love this ride!
@@alexiscather9847 All KI coasters get rough relatively quick because the soil is rather soft, which means the footers and supports shake easily. this can lead to roughness. If Banshee was built at any other park it would be smooth as hell because b&m is a master of track profiling.
I thought Banshee was really smooth this past summer. As was Orion. And I don't think it deserve the shade it gets. I actually prefer it to Diamondback
I remember when someone "fan" concept art(animation) for a rumored King's Island giga coaster. And, it was very similar to Orion, including its color scheme. So, I'm pretty sure someone on the design team leaked info, or if it was an intentional leak for publicity.
Orion is a beautiful looking coaster with a lovely layout, but Millennium Force is still my favorite Giga Coaster followed by Fury 325 and Leviathan (both match for #2). Orion is my third favorite of the Giga Coaster (that may change if I can ride it). I've been wanting to go to King's Island as it has so many Coasters on my list to try.
As I've said before about Orion's stats .... It's okay, I mean I wasn't expecting it to beat Fury 325 stat wise. But that said, I was expecting the height to be bigger.
How tall were you expecting? I’ve herd Fury’s drop and are identified meaning it would probably have to be a good deal taller than fury for any sort of effects. I can’t believe you people really thought kings island was going to create the most expensive coaster in cedar fair history
Just went to Kings Island yesterday and still can’t decide wether I liked Diamondback or Orion more. I did go on Diamondback 3 times, while only going on Orion once, so I think if I had gone more than once on Orion I might have liked it more.
Banshee has an identity crisis. Lol. It was supposed to be a standup coaster at Cedar point, 24 years ago. It just somehow got dressed up as an invert and wound up in a field 200 miles away, 18 years later.
@@coasterbot I believe the RMC Raptor model is a clone, so you could make a general video about the model/track, or either just RailBlazer or just Wonder Woman Golden Lasso Coaster. However, RailBlazer is more often talked about than Wonder Woman.
Many have said there is no difference in the drops between fury and Orion so what the hell was the point in making it taller. It would have had to be significantly taller than fury to feel any different which means it likely would have been 60 million plus. All of these people complaining clearly don’t understand ROI. Millennium Force was already overshadowed by dragster from a GP prospective. Making this taller would have been a horrible financial choice.
Despite all of the nostalgia that KI offers (I grew up in the area), I honestly HATE going because it is so poorly themed and maintained. The last time I was there (to ride Mystic Timbers), the gift shop was in such poor shambles that half the shelves were empty and it even had mold growing across the ceiling from the air ducts. Almost everything needs a coat of paint, the fountains were shooting weirdly because they need descaled. Signs that still point to attractions that have been removed...I could go in and on. It just needs some serious attention other than just new rides.
Mystic Timbers doesn't even have a gift shop. The fountains were literally replaced last season. The GM has been trying to improve the park's appearance over the last few years. I think Kings Island should put more effort into theming. Maybe they can partner with more IPs in addition to Peanuts for some of the rides.
That'd be interesting!
They could have made a three feet hole underneath the highest point, then I'd be 300ft.
It's certain they thought of that. There must have been a structural reason to not to do it and give up all the bragging rights.
B&M rattles are caused by less solid ground. This would definitely have made the ground less solid and given the drop a decent rattle
