Since I have JUST begun playing the double bass and only have old psychobilly records to get any kind of "tricks" from - These videos are a huge help! Thanks!
So glad to hear you're finding these useful Rune, and even better to hear you're on that bass :D Love all the old Psychobilly stuff, but its a minefield to try to learn from! Keep rockin' man
Neat lesson. I've been taken with the double bass recebtly hence my latest uploads, but im a long time electric player and can play pretty well on that instrument. Double bass is certainly a different but challenging and fun beast.
Truly great lessons!! I've got some studio dates later this involving slap double bass which I haven't done for ages! These videos are super helpful for improving my technique - LOADS of super-helpful tips here! Many thanks for making these - very much appreciated. Scott.
Your videos are awesome thankyou. I have been practicing for 2 years and just realized that there are so many songs in rockabilly that have a 1 4 5 progression as you pointed out. Keep up the great work for us beginners, cheers

Hello there! I am interested in learning to play the upright bass, so am very new to this. I was wondering about your bass...is this an expensive model? It sound very good!
Você é uma boa professora, seu instrumento está todo torto, você pode danifica-lo com o cavalete fora da barra harmônica, obrigado pelos ensinamentos ❤
There could be a few reasons for this. How long have you been playing bass? It could the the set up needs looking at as the strings are catching on something, it could be the action is too high or it could be that you may still need to develop left hand finger strength, as it does buzz if not pressed down hard enough. I hope this helps!
It might be an optical illusion, but your bridge looks shifted way towards the treble side? Looks more comfortable for your palm though. Is that for sound & setup, or just an illusion?
Will these techniques work on a upright electric stick bass , I can get one of those for about $1000, the cheapest hybrid that I can find is $2800 . The string shops in this area don't want to bother with a laminated bass can't make enough profit on that.
They can work, but I know from a couple of others that its more difficult and the slap sound doesn't sound great, but if its all you can get, its still something you can use to practice on for sure. Its always important to get the strings set up well for slap style, not too high but enough to be able to just hook the string. I'd recommend looking online for basses before deciding though, mine was from Finland and only £1400 for a laminate, delivered. It might be a better option! Thomann are a great place to shop, but maybe somewhere not overseas would have better prices with shipping.
@@BamboozleHQ I actually was confused a bit. Thought you did it on purpose to maybe be able to play the EAD Strings easier. I play alittle bass guitar and don't know much about upright bass yet.
Then since rock n roll / rockabilly is American, you will only be listening to British music? It's here for everyone to play and enjoy. Loosen up and relax bud.
Having so much fun learning, thank you!
So great to hear!

Thanks Scott! Really glad they’re helping, let me know how the studio sessions go!

Beautiful as well as talented .... Can't beat a good looking Rockabilly girl..! Thanks for sharing and educating us.
Larry Graham transferred slap/pop technique to Electric bass
Definitely a genius move, something I’d love to learn to do one day
Just found your lessons and there going to be good for me, thanks and keep up the work.

Very interesting lesson.

Great Video Pixie!
Thanks
Great and pedagocical instruction on slap
What kind/brand/model of upright is that? The colors of the wood on the sides looks awesome!
P Michael, it’s a Strunal from Germany, but customised by Huttula Customs in Finland 🎵
@MUSIC HUB 1600€ I believe, it was a while ago now though! Incredible value for money!

Very helpful. Why have strings the other way?
The other way? I think maybe it’s as the bridge was out of line. I have children, and they knocked it just before I recorded and didn’t notice 🤣
Thanks for reminding me - no high speeds on day ! Im finding it really hard to get on top of the technique, and frustrating!!!
Sorry to hear that! Just keep at it Donald, don’t get too fast too soon. It will come
@@BamboozleHQ You are awesome, thank you for lessons and encouragement!
Thank you

Hey, so sorry I didn’t see this! I don’t always get the notifications. Did you start playing? And find a bass?

Obrigado! Tenho filhos e não percebi que um deles havia derrubado a ponte antes das filmagens 🤦♀️🤣
👏 Auténtica !
thank youu
Why does my string buzz when I try this :o

@@BamboozleHQ I think you're right about the finger strength. I got to press down hard! to get that to sound right xD Thank you.
Great lesson girl!
One Man 49 Instruments thanks! Glad you enjoyed it

I'm curious about that, too.
Neither, I have kids and it had a knock just before the video, which I didn’t notice until after 🤦♀️🤣

I wish i have you in my 6. Shool class tescher .i am perfekt in psychobilly slap bass .
Is the bridge purposely positioned way out of line? The G String is way off the fretboard.
It is, well spotted, but not on purpose. I have kids 🤣 I hope that explains enough!
@@BamboozleHQ You had fixed it later on in the video.👍
I did, as soon as I noticed it!
@@BamboozleHQ I actually was confused a bit. Thought you did it on purpose to maybe be able to play the EAD Strings easier. I play alittle bass guitar and don't know much about upright bass yet.
@@RackwitzG I’m glad you asked! It was one of my early videos, so my editing was still a work in progress 😋
Cool video. Do you play in a band?
Karl Sharpe thanks, glad you enjoyed it. Yeah, Bamboozle. We’ve got some vids on this channel
Great, I will look for them :-)
What’s up with the placement of that bridge?
I have children who like to mess with things 😉🤣 I didn’t notice until halfway through, just wondered why I had to tune it so much!
ah! super beautiful bass. so cool you responded. cheers!
@@wardharrison thank you!
As if the bridges and wires have slipped?
They hadn’t shipped, they were knocked. I have kids 😂
If you don't have bleeding calluses, you're not trying hard enough.😂
Every time I don't play for 2 weeks 😂
it looks like your bridge has moved the strings are miles away from the edge of the fingerboard on thick string end
Yes, it had. I have children 😂 I didn’t notice until halfway through the video!
is it my eyes, or are the bridge a bit off to the side??
Not your eyes 😉 I have kids… you can imagine the rest 🤣
@@BamboozleHQ heeheh Indeed I can.... Sweet "Cello" by the way...
@@trrond Haha, thank you ;)
bridge is way out to the right
thebass room yes! Well spotted 😉 I have children at home, so you can imagine what happened
Is it just me or the bridge is not centered ?
Not just you 😉
The Slap NO Double Slap ?????
So then what do you personally call it when you just pull a string with no hand return? The half slap?
Ne vous cassez pas le cul, je parle que Français ! :)
Why are playing this music you are not even American
Oh, sorry. I didn’t realise it was only for Americans 🤦♀️
Then since rock n roll / rockabilly is American, you will only be listening to British music? It's here for everyone to play and enjoy. Loosen up and relax bud.
I guess since Americans now play football, the rest of the world can listen and play Rockabilly;-)
