Thanks so much Greg. I was wodering if this lesson is similar to ''future in the past''. What is 'future in the past'?Thanks. Do you happen to have the lesson about that?
I am really happy to watch your videos which are well-explained English to non-native students regarding tenses that we do not have in our mother tongue. Can you please explain why do use the gerund (READING) in the last sentence (after YOU HAVE FINISHED)? Thanks!
We use that kind of phrasing a lot in Spanish, it is called "pretérito perfecto" (perfect tense). I've never realized it was mixing future actions with present verbs until now that I hear you explain it in English!
I don't get tired of saying it, you're one of the best teachers ever, ever since I watched your video, I started liking the british accent which I used to Go hate just because I didn't understand. By the way, I have replied the email you sent me about this lesson.
Thumbs up! English is tough, teaching is tougher but you are doing it perfectly. You are professional. I can start speaking English as soon as enthusiasm has inspired me. My goal is to be absolutely fluent in English. I can achieve it once i have felt an inspiration. You rock!
Great topic Greg! I think that in Spanish language, it wil be: "Voy a buscar trabajo cuando HAYA pasado mi examen". Your videos are very useful, thanks.

Thank you for your free books Greg I have downloaded them. I am absolutely sure that I will get a better improvement after I have read your books carefully.
Greg, I simply enjoyed this refreshing lesson. And let me know if I’m wrong or right: when we use “I’ll call you when I finish my homework”, as you’ve wisely explained, it sounds like “...AS SOON AS I finish my homework (right after I do it). Thank you indeed!
Dear GREG !! ,This lesson it's not SOOOO EASY..., BUT !!! You explained it ,PERFECTLY !!! GREG ,you're a GENIUS !!👌👌👌👌 your examples are CRYSTAL CLEAR !!! This is what I've been searching for a long time but couldn't find much info, thanks Greg for always being a step ahead of others. May i clarify is the use of past simple allowed or only present perfect tense can be used?
Thank you for this 👍. Please I want to know what tense to use in this kind of situation:I'm watching a clip online with a friend, and can't understand something about the clip, should I say "what is happening to the box?" or "what happened to the box?". Since the time when the clip was recorded had past . Thank you.
Hey. Thank you for that lesson. It's really helpful for me. Please, correct my mistakes in the next sentence. I'm going to look for a new job when I've done my CV.
I got confused with the tense You taught us and the future perfect tense will have + pp. I think I shoud learn that in depth to work it out. Thanks. Teacher!
Thank you very much. This is a really different topic on grammar. Once I have finished reading your free book, which I just downloaded, I will watch your another video. Like you asked, I have written one sentence. Thank you once again.
These things are all about the playing the game from 0 to 1 conditionals and vise versa. What is remarkable is the present perfect softly comply with both grammar rules. It is hard to learn separately each tense, because some tenses are secondary, but in groups it becomes much easier. It is a specific of the way how do the British perceive the time.
I will watch another video on this channel once I am done with it. (Or) I will watch another video on this channel after I've been done with it. Which one sounds great, Mr. Greg? 😅
I have been watching studying lessons for a long time but such perfect i could see only now. Did i say it correctly ? I mean could i use PrPerfCont and past simple in one sentence
Hello there. The sentence on bottom is curious. I'm bemused, I don't know whether using after past participle (finished) gerund (reading it), or infinitive (to read it) or present simple (read it). «When you have finished reading it». Greg, give me a hand, would you?
Thanks for great clear explenation. Kindly ask you to prepare similar video about talking in the past about future. It will be be very helpfull for me. Big thanks in advance :)
Thank you Greg. 1. I'll tell you the answer once I have figure it out😮 2. We will start baking the cakes when Tim has gotten all the ingredients... (Are they ok?) Thanks again.
Hi Greg. It looks like using Conditionals 1 but instead of Present Simple here is Present Perfect. Is the difference between "Can I borrow that book when you have finished..." and "Can I borrow that book when you finish..." that the first option means you can give me the book a day or a month after finishing? But the second one means the minute after you finish? Thank you :)
Some linguists distinguish between time references and verb tense. So speakers can use adverbs to make verb phrases refer to future events eg. "After I have finished my lunch..." but the verb "have" is still present tense (perfect aspect). Some argue English has no future tense as other ways are used to refer to the future. "Will", for example, as a modal, is not a tensed verb.
Same in German where "Futur 2" would just sound so much more complex than the simple "Perfekt" form. "Wenn ich das Buch gelesen habe" > "Wenn ich das Buch gelesen haben werde" Would it even sound reasonable in English to say "I will give you the book once I WILL have finished it"? :D
Hi Greg! Look at these two phrases. I'll pick you up when I've fixed my car. I'll pick you up when I've had my car fixed. Are they both correct? Do they have the same meaning? Is there any mistake? Thanks a lot for your video
Oh my goodness i got confused 🤔 about it may i say « I'm gonna call you when i have talked to my mother » is it correct? If it is i have talked here expresses the future? How come? Cos we gotta verb conjugated in the past
GREAT video verses GREAT teacher. I will have a cuppa once I have watched your video. By the way I have already watched this video a couple of days ago , I forgot everything though.Hopefully I will not forget what I have learnt now down the line. Could you notify me about my grammar mistakes in the comment or how can I explain it in a more splendid way? Would you please tell me where I stand in the journey of learning English? It has been 2 and a half years since I started learning English on UA-cam. I have been learning it religiously without missing a day. I have watched hundreds of thousands English learning videos across the UA-cam.
I will go to the cinema when I have finished my work day. Is it also correct to say : "I will call you when I will have finished my homework" with the double use of "will" or not at all ?
Hi Greg, I have learnt a lot from watching your videos. Thank you. Could you please check if the following sentences are correct? I will move to Australia once I've got married. Schools in Hong Kong will resume face-to-face classes when Covid-19 has been under control.
@@ynnad2702 It's present perfect. Present TENSE with perfect aspect. Your example sentence means that [Now] you have taught English... It's seen from the present moment. Tense is not the same as time. Present TENSE is not identical to present TIME.
Another example of past to talk about future is something like "If John came to the party, he would have a good time." The party here is in the future. Past tense is used because we don't think he will come.
Hope you liked the lesson! Remember to leave your example sentences below ⬇️

Would it also be possible to use Future Perfect instead of Present perfect? "At 5:05 I´ll have finished my homework"

In my opinion “present perfect” is considered “present” and not “past”...
Interesting! 🤔 I'm sure you're not alone, and if is helps you to use it correctly, then that's totally fine! 👍🏼👍🏼
Of course is not present! "I am 50 years old and I HAVE TAUGHT English since I was 20"... Is this "present" for you????
