The Chromecast HD tops out at 1080p picture resolution, but also supports High Dynamic Range formats. The Chromecast HD is running on Android TV OS 12.
The Chromecast remote easily paired with my 2007 Samsung TV and controlled the TV power, volume control and mute function.
Google TV debuted in 2020 on the Google Chromecast with Google TV 4K. Since then, Google TV has been the Smart TV platform of choice for Sony Bravia Smart TVs along with Smart TVs from Hisense, Phillips and TCL.

we're primarily a Roku house, but I have one of those cheapo Onn android TV boxes plugged into a Toshiba TV that is so old it doesn't even have a digital tuner. Works great and breaths new life into an old brick of a TV!

I have the Chromcast with Google Tv but am having problems with the remote.
I cannot get the remote to move to the left but it does move up and down and to the right but not to the left.

This is helpful I might do this as Samsung just intentionally bricked my 2011 Samsung TV today, it's still compatible with steaming apps but Samsung flipped a licencing switch to block individual shows so there's a new error message now. It's frustrating, and based on things I've searched Samsung has been doing this for a lot of their older smart TV's recently.

if i set up chromecast on my old tv, cn i see my laptop screen on the tv ? suppose i brose the net in chrome on my laptop and i want to browse the net in chrome on the tv . is that possible ?
But how do you get audio out, if you plug in to a monitor with no speakers/audio out?
