    These detailed step by step videos are great for beginner builders like me, you add so many tips and tricks during the teaching. Your channel definately deserves more traction! Please keep it up!

    I actually went to Mudhole last week, 1st time in 30 month, and got a MHX 7 FT blank, matching MHX grips and metal silver butt trim bands for a build. Bling city...my version of stepping up. Your videos are a huge help as a refresher course. Not really sure why I'm putting myself through all of this for the 40th time. Got to be the satisfaction level one achieves after a build...nothing quite like it. Thanks Lee..

      There is nothing quite as satisfying as catching a big one on a rod you built.

      I know a bunch of builders that do it. I'm just the only one with a UA-cam channel.

    The epoxy covered popsicle stick and weight hitting the table was epic! I almost spit my coffee out, I knew you was going to be making a comment…….😂 Great video, it brought back tons of memories of the growing pains!

    I love the idea of balancing my rod, regardless of weight, would it be better to balance it with the reel in place? Or is your way better?

    • @fdxcustomrods
      @fdxcustomrods  5 місяців тому

      I don't know that it's "better," but I don't think it makes that much of a difference, especially if you palm a baitcaster like I do.

    Great video it really helps to see someone do it for the first time, after building a lot of rods many things appear like second nature to you and even small things like cleaning the epoxy go unnoticed until a beginner does it.

      Yep. I'm learning to be a better teacher.

    Can you do the same with fly rods?

    • @fdxcustomrods

      If you're asking about finding the spine, them yes. You just do it section by section. Only the top half matters much.
