I swim several times a week in an indoor pool and also have my hair colored. I've never had problems with dry hair before but the combination of those two things really dried my hair out. Within a few days, my hair was rejuvenated and no longer snarls. A small amount of Argan Rain shampoo worked wonders! I will continue to purchase this shampoo.

A tip that I use when I know I'm going swimming is to co wash my hair before swimming. I soak my entire head in water then condition from root to tip, combing the conditioner in and then doing a braid. Leave as much conditioner as you can. Your hair will soak up much less chlorine or salt water that way. Also coconut oil works wonders!

And if you're a sushi eater, I would recommend Rue 57. I unfortunately didn't get the chance to go when I went to Manhattan because we ran out of time, but I was told that it's the best sushi in all of Manhattan.

I am OBSESSED with your channel. Love it. But I am confused as to why you would deep condition BEFORE and not AFTER shampooing. I always deep condition after. Is there a specific reason why you do it before? Arent you undoing all the great moisture by shampooing it all out?
Lauren Foster that's a great question! I find that when I deep condition after shampooing my hair feels greasy and weighed down. So I like to use a gentle shampoo afterwords so it only strips the excess product from my hair!
It's interesting because that's the reason why I don't deep condition before straightening my hair. I just feel like it would be extra greasy. However, I dont really think that way when my hair is curly. I'll pay attention next sunday to how my hair feels. May switch it up!
Test it out and let me know how it goes! I hate that greasy feeling on straight hair, especially since it takes me soo long to straighten my hair in the first place, but I love when my curls feel moisturized!
I love what you said about all our hair being different although it might look the same, and therefore a routine might work for you and not for me! But I do have some questions about your routine. I see you do your deep conditioning on "dirty" (it does not seem dirty, but it's not washed, is it?) hair: do you feel it penetrates well? And after your treatments you use a regular shampoo: does it contain sulphates? And if so, doesn't it strip your hair and make it loose all the moisture and/or protein you just worked in with the deep conditioner? Am asking because I wash before my deep conditioning for this reason, but maybe your order of doing it might benefit as well or even more.
It really depends on how dirty I feel my hair is that week. When I wear my hair curly it takes a really long time for it to get dirty, so I usually just rinse it with hot water to help open up my hair follicles, then do a deep conditioning treatment, and then wash my hair. My hair is moderately porous so it does penetrate my hair well. The only reason why I shampoo after the treatment, is because the oils can be very heavy on my hair and hard to rinse out on its own, and I hate when my hair feels greasy when I blow dry it straight. I also try to avoid shampoos that contain sulfates, so my hair does get stripped too much. The Purple shampoo that I use is sulfate free, and the whole blends line by garnier is paraben free (but super moisturizing) and my hair has responded positively to both products! Now when I wear my hair straight, it's easier for the oils from my scalp to make its way down my hair (aka easier for it to get greasy and dirty) so after a week of straight hair, I will wash it first with shampoo, then do the treatment, and then rinse with a conditioner. :) Sorry for the novel! I hope this helps :)

I Sweat a lot in the gym too! I usually work out with my hair in a bun, or in braids, and then try to dry the sweat from my roots with a towel before refreshing my curls! If you find that your hair gets super greasy, you can alway spray some dry shampoo in your roots and then blow dry just your roots. Or you can co-wash your hair!
When keeping my hair curly, I now style my hair with Shea Moisture Leave in conditioner, and then apply their Curl Smoothie and style. Once I've styled my wash & go I apply deva curl styling cream to my hair and let it air dry. If I am straightening my hair, then I use Bumble and bumbles blow dry repair elixir, and then their hairdresser heat protectant spray. :)
Yes I agree, but I only wash my hair once a week, and use really thick treatments, so to get rid of whatever buildup I have on my scalp and hair follicle, I tend to use a lot of shampoo... 😅
