Jamila, I am an 8th grade student and my classmates look up to me as a good public speaker. I regularly watch your videos and learn a lot from them. Thank you very much!
Good for you! I hope you continue leading the way with grace and confidence! I, too, love public speaking, but didn't learn that skill until I was in my mid-20's. Before that, any presentation I had to do at school scared me to death! It's good to become skilled at this at a young age, it will help you in so many ways as you grow up. Best to you. 😊
Impressive! Some people don’t think adherence to proper etiquette is important. However, it shows confidence and self care. And others notice! Good for you!
I think an important point is that it is extremely rude to wave hands around in fast motions, as well as point with a single finger. If you are ever complimenting someone's skirt, for example, you should never point at it with one finger whilst exclaiming adoration. But with a single, gentle hand motion, palm up, directing toward's the person's clothes is a much more elegant way to attract attention to something specific.
She has indeed a beautiful voice. The soothing part comes from the way we speak and it can be learned like, for example singing. Slow and clear is easy to listen to. Try to listen to someone talking fast (and sometimes loudly). Personally, it stresses me out and it makes difficult to follow them.
Is because you’re more proud of them and therefore feel more comfortable and connected to your beauty, in my opinion, elegance is confidence in one’s beauty and worth
Jamila it would be really helpful if you could do a fast food etiquette for things such as pizzas, burgers, sandwiches and chicken wins since they are not eaten in formal environments. Thank you in advance!
Hello Jamila! I would suggest you to keep the flowers behind you as the bright contrast creates a distraction and it takes focus from you. Great video!!
def agree with u , I use alot of gesturing when im speaking to clients. It really gives sense of security to the client cuz it gives confidante and in charge vibe, therefore they will trust you more.
As I'm watching this, I'm being reminded fondly of ballet classes from my childhood. I think that's where I learned how to hold my hands and gesture. Very grateful for this video, thank you 🌷
Your videos never disappoint me, Jamila 🎉 Although hand gestures are important when we are delivering a speech, I think it's essential to control the amount of gestures we do and try to have delicate movements as possible, otherwise we can make the other person feel nervous or distracted by our hands. It happens to me a lot, maybe because I'm a highly sensitive person, that some people who are very frenetic and exagerated with their body language makes me feel a little bit of anxious.
Most of the people don't follow ettiquettes and manners at all. They are even mannerless and rude without even knowing and realising about it. That's really awkward, anxious and disturbing for well behaved and we'll mannered people who are highly sensitive.😊
I saw a lot of positive comments, and some very rude comments, but the best one was from an 8th Grader, thanking Jamila who showed genuine appreciation. Great video, btw! ❤
Many times, I believe, the problem is that people overthink and obsess about details, when if they just ignored it and let their hands just be, they'd most often be fine. It's an art, not a science, every one has their way of communicating, some are more reserved, others are more expressive, what's important is that we understand each other. In my martial arts class there's a student I often train with that's a bit of a perfectionist, and obsesses about the tiniest little wrong thing, and the more she stresses about it the worse the whole sequence becomes. That's the point when I say a stupid joke to make her laugh and relax, and have her do her next attempt while she's still talking, and often it goes better because she's not as tense and just lets it happen. We've been practicing for long enough that her body knows what to do, it's her head that gets in the way. If you think you're doing something wrong, sometimes the answer is to think less, and just do. Let things happen. Find your flow and learn to go with it. I promise you're not as inept as you think. "Oh, but what if I embarrass myself?" It's never going to go as bad as you think. And if you never fail, you'll never succeed; it's called practice. You weren't born knowing how to walk, were you? I don't know when this rant became a pep-talk but here we are. You'll do fine. Think less, and just do.
Thank you very much for the hand dangle explanation, which is very elegant and not used by many women these days... unfortunatly ! Let's use it more and become very elegant women, with the rest of your sugggestions of course !!
i love the hand dangle gesture! - i was just watching an interview with actress monica bellucci and found something particularly captivating yet couldn't quite place it - as soon as you said 'hand dangle' and then showed the gesture it immediately connected! - she was doing this gesture quite a bit in the interview - i mean, she is obviously beautiful in numerous ways, but i do agree with you that 'hand dangling' is just immensely lovely - thank you, Jamila! interview: 'Malena - Monica Bellucci, Giuseppe Tornatore - Interviews' channel: la Bella Bellucci
I actually never ever thought about the importance of hand gestures ever. Great video, now am wondering what i have been doing with my hands all thia while. Thank you so much. Lots of love 😍
I liked the finger touch and wrist dangle tips the best because I've never heard of them being used as hand gestures. This was a great video, Jamila! Thank you very much!
I unfortunately have rough hands due to some household chores (I handwash some of my clothes with sensitive fabric and keeps the sink clean, hence always involve in wetting my hands and use soap chemicals) but I always bring a handcream with me formulated with niacinamide. I also use lotion with collagen on my hand in hopes they'll restore to what they were before.
@noname. I unfortunately don't have one. I'm more used to cleaning with just bare hands, but I'll try buying. And practice to getting used to it while cleaning.
woww, it is so amazing to learn this. I have never paid much attention to hand gestures ever, feels great to learn something new like this. You are so elegant, how you talk and express things so beautifully, i really find you full of grace and elegance.
Thank you Jamila for your awesome and helpful tips! This is more important than we realize and you are helping us understand this. I would very like if you could do a video with several different scenarios, so we can see hand gestures according to different situations - perhaps 1-2 min video of ie. when eating dinner, with a date, and another with friends. Also other videos with other scenarios ie in an interview, in a breakfast/lunch with boss and colleagues. Also a video when sitting in a meeting with colleagues (how to sit and hand gestures when talking but also when listening to colleagues. Also a video when being in an important meeting with clients. Especially when I am presenting something, it always draws attention to my hands & people look, so I try but not easy to hide. I think I will try moving more subtley &slowly.
Thank you babil, for being yourself. All my life I have struggled to fit in, I am same age as yours and I completely get the feeling when you say ' you know how I am' . I always felt so different and sometimes I tried to buckle up and be very much of today's time but then I couldn't be that for very long and struggled internally, it's beautiful to see someone who is very much fine being himself

@@thekingsdaughter4233 aww, ok. Thank you so much for your suggestions. I currently live in Indonesia. Thank you Jamila for these very helpful tips on hand gestures. It would also be helpful to know about head and eye gestures in various social and professional situations
Hi Jamila, thank you so much for this informative video. I do have a question regarding touching the fingertips with each other as you mentioned as your second last point. Wouldn't it block your face from viewing especially when the elbows are on the table? Thanks again for your inputs.
This is a great point, I noticed as well! In addition to the hand movements themselves, it’s good to also be mindful of where your hands are in relation to your face, as blocking your mouth when you’re speaking may subconsciously come across as you have something to hide. Just something else to consider! 💜
I would love a video on wich hand gestures to begin with. If you basically don’t use any hand gestures at all from the beginning. Because I tend to be a little robotic in my body language, and I have no idea where to begin ❤
Hey! Jamila I really really love your contents so so so much and this video is so so helpful to me in my life you are my inspiration and I wish you reach 800K Subscribers very very soon!💓🙂💫
Thanks Jamila, being a Kumaoni its too difficult to be formal naturally. But your videos are helpful to inculcate that elegace and formality . Thanks ! Sending Love from India❤
Excellent Subject ❤ Thank you so much Jamila. Please make a video on different table settings. For example : Different course meals and cutlery settings from different countries
I love this video, Jamila like the other ones of yours but I want to say please add precise headings that you used to add at the beginning of each poing because some of us take notes from these videos so it gets easier for us to remember.
And also another point I get a lot is to use fingers as little as possible, like a ‘why/what’ hand gesture people stretch out their fingers and it just looks weird specially if you have long thin fingers

Best etiquette 😍
Hi Jamila, thank you so much for this informative video. I do have a question regarding touching the fingertips with each other as you mentioned as your second last point. Wouldn't it block your face from viewing especially when the elbows are on the table? Thanks again for your inputs.
This is a great point, I noticed as well! In addition to the hand movements themselves, it’s good to also be mindful of where your hands are in relation to your face, as blocking your mouth when you’re speaking may subconsciously come across as you have something to hide. Just something else to consider! 💜
Hey, I'm a Student. I have been watching your etiquette videos for a while. It would be really great if you make a video about corporate etiquette
There really is something about a woman's hands I think most people don't necessarily see them in that way but they certainly can be an attribute.
You are Brava Jamila. Thank you for your videos.
its 1am... with face mask eating a bowl of fruit...I just want to say I really enjoyed this video.
A super helpful practice!!!
man i do these hand gestures a lot i didn't know it's a good stuff from etiquette
I would love a video on wich hand gestures to begin with. If you basically don’t use any hand gestures at all from the beginning.
Because I tend to be a little robotic in my body language, and I have no idea where to begin ❤
Can you make a video about poses for photos? 😊

Excellent Subject ❤ Thank you so much Jamila. Please make a video on different table settings. For example : Different course meals and cutlery settings from different countries
I find these tips really helpful, why is here so many rude comments?
You will be surprised how the world is full of hateful people …
Thank you so much fro this 💕
I love this video, Jamila like the other ones of yours but I want to say please add precise headings that you used to add at the beginning of each poing because some of us take notes from these videos so it gets easier for us to remember.
So beautiful so cute very Nice DP 💗 Very Good Evening ji ☕
Now that the hands are done. Kindly tell about the legs etiquettes
And also another point I get a lot is to use fingers as little as possible, like a ‘why/what’ hand gesture people stretch out their fingers and it just looks weird specially if you have long thin fingers
