My daughter was recently accepted to the Fall 2023 Voyage. We have found your videos very helpful! This one especially! Thank you! I feel like the packing list is huge and she is already someone that over packs. I’m sure she is going to want to purchase things in country so now I’m trying to figure out how much luggage/ Duffles she will need for 4 months. We are looking at the 31” collapsible Biaggi bags and I’m wondering if she needs two for her main luggage. Does SAS have any limitations as to how many bags you can bring? I know the airline we can pay the extra fee for additional luggage, but unsure if there are and rules or limitations in regards to how many on ship. It was my understanding that any luggage or duffles has to be stored in the cabin once unpacked. Is this correct?
you can bring two checked bags, a carryon and a personal item like a purse! and yes everything stays in the cabin with you, either in the closet or under a bed!
Im currently in year 8 and im Australian and my dream is to go on semester at sea when i graduate in my Gap year! Since im from Australia would i be an international student and if so how does international student stuff work if you get what i mean!!!!
awesome! there’s a few things you’ll need that are different for your application, but aside from that process you’ll be the same as everyone else! and yes, australia would count as international :) so you’ll need your GPA converted to a U.S. scale and for it to be above a 3.0, and a letter of recommendation, a short essay about why you want to study as a gap year student, a disciplinary release form, and a transcript from your secondary school! there might be a few other things… you can find the whole list here (under the gap year section): www.semesteratsea.org/admission/requirements/international-student-admission-requirements/
oooo good point, i did, but i think it’s technically against their rules… so going with a powder or other spray would be safer, but i didn’t read that list well before packing and it ended up fine! i’m sure the rule has something to do with not wanting to start fires on the ship - which is a good rule to have!
Also: how would you feel about a water filter? Edit! Just added 18 24 packs of propel to my imaginary list, think I can fit it in there? I calculated it for those wondering! 4 bottles - the recommend amount per day - for 107 days = 17 24 packs! But add an extra for funsies!
you probably don’t need a water filter, if the water in a country makes people sick, it’ll be because of a kind of bacteria which i don’t think can be filtered out!
@@jessshorst thanks for input! Gum was a great idea! By any chance do you know if I can take out student loans for this? And are the other folks accepting and friendly? I come from a very basic middle class household and I am scared people there are rich snotty kids? I have social anxiety and cost is the only thing preventing me. I also am LGBTQ so I really want to apply for inclusive engagement! I also wondered if there were many queer people onboard?
@@crapolacrayons4622 You can do student loans, and SAS does a great job with giving students the funding they need! They take FAFSA (income) information into account, and also look at how much your parents will be contributing to your trip -- If you're paying for more of it yourself you'll get more in aid!
@@crapolacrayons4622 And on my voyage there was a GSA club, and all clubs are student lead, so I bet there will be one made on your voyage too :)) Also there's gender inclusive rooming options now, which is a great step towards making everyone on the ship feel comfortable with their rooming situation!

Can you make a video on what it’s like being on your period while on the ship and how that affects you traveling and on the ship life
