I doubt Insym will see this, but the reason we have stop signs out in the middle of nowhere where it SEEMS to be "high visibility" is because our fields rotate crops every season. So a field that has low height beans in it and leaves a lot of visibility will have corn in it NEXT farming season. Corn will leave no visibility. We do this because a certain crop will remove necessary nutrients from the soil so there wouldn't be enough to regrow that crop by the planting time next year. So placing a different crop that needs different nutrients allows us to use the fields every year and get food from it without nutrient deficits. A single field often harvests corn, beans, corn, beans back and forth in order to utilize available nutrients while replenishing what the previous crop took the year before. Stop signs are there year-round because as our crops change per farming season, so does visibility and the stop signs end up saving a lot of lives at the areas where corn is being grown. On the HIGH chance that Insym doesn't see this, but others were wondering about stop signs in "high-visibility" field areas as well... This is why ^_^
Also, when two cars get there at the same time they could legally crash into each other without a stop sign. In a situation like you have in the game though, 90% of people would probably blow right through it.
Storm chasers are usually the ones that call in warnings. Without them they wouldnt be able to sound the sirens in time to give ppl heads up. They save lives.
Chasers typically confirm tornado warnings, but tornado warnings are usually issued ahead of confirmations as a precaution by forecasters based on radar indication.(what I mean by this is: a tornado warning will go out and a chaser will confirm said warning by reporting wall cloud/funnel/etc. Though there are instance where a chaser sees the wall cloud reports it and a tornado warning is issued for that storm, but most of the time it's the other way around bc forecasters would rather be safe than sorry and put out warnings for a storm if it shows even the slightest bit of data indicating a tornado) But that said, yes chasers absolutely do greatly boost the odds of a storm being forewarned enough to help save lives, so don't confuse this as me saying chasers aren't needed because they most definitely are!
American midwestern here. So wall clouds are important because it essentially is the lowest part of the system that extends to the ground and usually indicates different levels of atmospheric pressures are moving. And they "suck" surrounding humid updraft and warm air into the system which only increases the chance for a Tornado from it. The hook on Doppler radar is what you'll see from the increase in the updraft of warm humid air pressure and will always be on the south to southwest side of the storm system. Hope this information helps.
As someone who has been around tornados, hearing Insym talk about how big some of them are in the game is kind of funny. There have been tornadoes that are 4km wide(not tall). Its awesome to see new people getting excited about learning tornadoes.
As a storm chaser I enjoy this game, I agree with a lot of people that set scenarios hurt the playability as it can become mundane once you recognize the scenario and know when and where everything happens, but if they add in some variability it would deff increase the fun of the game.
I always wondered how do storm chasers get paid? Do you register with local TV/Radio networks or meteorology stations and being paid based on the information and updates you send? I'm sure there will be people who purely do it for the thrill as a hobby, but what about the professional storm chasers? Because it's seems not only a dangerous thing to do, but also expensive with all the stuff you need, miles driven, car maintenance and as far as my understanding the tornado season is usually spring thru early summer and lasts 2-3 months when most tornadoes form and touch ground. So you'll need a job for the rest of the year that is not only well paid but allows you to take months of break from that job. How do storm chasers earn money to justify the dangers and expenses that come with the chase?
I'm really glad im not the only one. It seems like others besides us agree. I can't even tell Insym how much good he does for my mental health and sanity.
the fact that one of the storms in the netherlands at the time of this stream was supercellular and rotating with a hook echo couldve made this video “insym chasing the current weather outside”
I wish this game had a free play mode that had infinite time along with random storms. Personally, it’s begun to lose its charm knowing that the storms and tornadoes form, follow, and die on a predetermined path, meaning that using any radar products, cloud reading skills, or just looking for polygons are useless since all you need to do is just go to a specific spot, wait for the tornado, then follow the same road to follow the tornado, before leaving at around the same time since you know the tornado dissipates at the same area. The solution for free play is simple too. All the devs need to do is to make it where you can only play with equipment you’ve already unlocked but you can’t progress and cheat the system. Because you can’t progress in the free play mode, you also get unlimited photos and gas since there’s no time limit. It would really help with replay ability and give the game a longer lifespan and I’m not sure why the devs made a game about a subject that’s all about going out and exploring but forcing a time limit and giving us scenarios.
The Extreme Tornado Tours is a real tour chase team that will take people out with them during chases. VK2 The Shaw is the Rav 4 of Australian chaser Daniel Shaw who often comes to the US to chase tornadoes VK2SRV is his handle on all watcher/chase frequencies. We used to have a photo that we took in the nineties that had three tornadoes on the horizon, miles away from our house. Luckily, they were moving away from us lol, you can DEFINITELY get multiple tornadoes in the same big storm
Good note to remember tornadoes typically move northeast. It's always best to stay Northeast ahead of the storm and wait for the tornado to come to you rather than waste time and gas chasing around after it. Just offering helpful tips.
Hope it gets a co-op mode or competitive mode where you and your friend either help each other chase tornados or which one of you can get the best data out of the tornado.

Look for hooks in cells. Dont look at the middle bc its usually at the bottom of a cell. The middle is jusy the heavy rain/hail. The rotation happens behind that.
Another update supposedly dropped, not sure what it entailed. I am looking forward to updates and hopefully they will consider procedural generation for the tornadoes, I love how they gathering data from tornados, I just hope there's some future considerations for longevity. Thanks Insym.
