I stopped wearing makeup and it changed the way I see myself. | Chai Talks Ep. 7

- In today's episode of Chai Talks, I'm sharing my journey with beauty. Being a female has its fare share of challenges but the topic of beauty is one of the most (if not the most) talked about thing when it comes to a female. Many companies are making millions based on our biological desires to be beautiful & attractive. Sometimes we forget that their 'profit' depends on us being highly insecure of ourselves. Why else would we spend billions on cosmetics, plastic surgery etc.
Here's how I rediscovered the beauty I am born with... I hope this video helps you in redefining your self image.

Great points. Though I would argue that the desire to look beautiful is not biological in women, I think it's a result of social conditioning from birth. Society has shown us messages from birth that beauty determines our value as females and beauty equals success, popularity, love, marriage, happiness, etc.
Purvi, you're such a delight and I'm so glad I found your channel
❤️❤️
GET.THIS.GIRL.MORE.SUBS. I mean fr why is this channel so goddamn underrated smh :/
An incredibly important vid Purvi. ❤️ Very much agree with a great deal of what you. It's a shame that baggage is often inherited in addition to being self-derived later in life. As a male, I've always found it perplexing why applying paint to a woman's face has not only become a norm, but an expectation. Silly, really. Especially since there are less potentially harmful ways to express our creativity. In all honesty, I would much rather find myself looking at a woman rather than a painting, and kissing a human rather than a pharmacy. 😄 One guy's perspective. No doubt that the psychology of validation behind habituated behaviours is carefully implanted, reinforced and managed by brands, but I also wonder the extent to which it can incite personal transormation following a deep, existential revelation. I truly believe that times are changing. You've set a good example, and for that I thank you. 🙇
You're welcome 🙂
Great video, Purvi. Perhaps a (related) topic for you to consider in one of your next Chai talks is the idea of vanity in the modern world, and the platforms that promote it. 🥂
Thank you for the suggestion ☺️

Well I just happened across your channel because of the cologne video you did. You look fine as they come with no make up. All of my friend prefer women with no make up. Look. You are pretty. Period.
I have gone thru the same situation. I am from North east india n hv an Asian look. Someone told me my nose is so small n flat...n i shud do nose job
And I was told that I have a big and tall nose which is kinda bulbous too! There are problems every where! Don't listen to anyone snd be confident!

Poor little Purvi!! Your mother must have felt so bad- as a mother myself I know I would just cry if something like that happened! Thank goodness your eyes are ok🤣😳. Sorry- mixed emotions..
Great video also- and you are beautiful!
Our babies will be beautiful and smart both from you lol
No need for make-up an@l is still great
how are we biologically wired to want to be beautiful/seen as attractive? i would think that's more societal wiring. females may have evolved to place on importance on being seen as attractive, since "unattractive" females would have had a harder time finding a mate and thus community to help keep them alive, but that's still based on societal biases, no? it's a bit convoluted, though. maybe you mean that males are biologically wired to want to mate with attractive/healthy offspring so they have attractive/healthy children that are accepted by society and helped to stay alive, but even so, isn't that all still based on societal biases? if we didn't socially and societally value physical beauty, physical beauty wouldn't help you stay alive and thus wouldn't import to females (or males for that matter). i'm not sure, but that comment doesn't seem accurate to me.
that said, that's just one thing that distracted me from an overall great video.
The answer to that will come if you become utterly honest with yourself. That requires you to have an unbiased perspective and a great risk in being utterly honest with oneself is that you may get hurt by the truth. For example, it hurts for me to accept the truth about male biology, which wants to spread their everywhere. This makes them more prone towards infidelity in a relationship. This doesn't mean that women aren't prone to adultery at all, it just means that men are biology wired in a way that works against the cultural or societal norms of monogamy. Now this fact, isn't something I feel too good about, in fact I struggle with accepting this. But for me, all I can say is, yes I can't deny this fact but I also can't push myself/my emotions to be completely accepting of them.
" As females we feed off of compliments " ( speak for yourself miss , not for the whole female population )
This single sentence exposed your inherent misogyny. The notion that using phrases as such doesn't do any harm or saying it's a general observation hence a fact is also problematic. It is simply perpetuation of a stereotypical image , a practice as harmful as companies exploiting women in the name of beauty standards. I wonder how people like you don't even flinch while uttering such regressive statements.
Sooo this is not a perfume channel anymore???
She wants to stand out and be that 'not like other girls' 😂😂 apparently most of her video subjects and content have been very critically analytical and bitchy. Nothing new that's not been said already by the internet
@@neenee4614 or maybe she is also a thinking human being other than a perfume lover. if you want someone who thinks like 99 % of other people go watch another american superficial girl
Without makeup 4/10
With 7/10.
