- New project!! We will be building out a 2021 Dodge Promaster 2500 159 inch wheel base van and turning it into a beautiful tiny home on wheels.
I have built a sailboat, a dinghy, two teardrops and an RV. What better way to combine all builds into one, than to build out a van and enjoy many travels! Journey with me as I put my skills to the test and turn an ordinary cargo van into a luxurious dwelling place on wheels!
We will compliment this van with a full size bed, bench seating for two, running water, full electric, propane cooking appliances, lights throughout, outside shower, and top it off with solar power to run everything. And to add that extra flare… we will do it in BATMAN style!
I hope to see you until the end when we will do a complete tour of the finished van. I hope you like it!
Thanks for staying tuned and watching the videos… now, let’s get started

Holy door pulls Batman🦇 them handle's are sick 👍🏼
Oregon needs a batman especially Portland lol
Nevermind I see!
:) no worries! Thank you for checking it out!
Your videos have been extremely helpful! What were the dimensions of the upper cabinets? I want to use your template if you don’t mind.
@@leilastevenson They cabinet dimensions came out to 12 x 14. 14 inches high and 12 inches from the wall
Beautiful work!
Thank you! Appreciate you checking it out!
You made me chuckle when I saw the Batman knobs. Perfect!
I'm loving the pull knobs. Batman heck ya! I am a huge Batman fan. Everything I have seen so far is looking great.
Wow awesome handles for the Batvan!
very, very nice!!!
Thank you!!
MY HAT IS OFF TO YOU SIR! DAMN FINE WORK!
GOLDEN OAK STAIN LOOKS GOOD! YES, DEFINITELY USE THE PRE STAIN TO ENSURE EVEN SHADE. MADE THAT MISTAKE ON SMALL PROJECT AND LEARNED FROM IT. I R EDUKATED!!!😜
LOL!!!
Hi Al! I’ve never seen a bed frame built in a Promaster with support bars like those before…very nice and look really strong! 👍👍👍 ~Jim~
Holds up very well!
Pro job, man!
Parabéns! Ótimo trabalho.
Lookin good!! 👍🏻
Thank ya SC!
Looking better and better!! Love watching the progress
Thanks Big Z!
The carpet on the bed looks so professional, you do such good work. Wish I knew about prestain years ago.
Thank you! :)
Looking amazing OBM! The cabinet pulls are like a signature. Be safe my friend and thanks for the video.
Thanks man! It's starting to take shape!!
I didn't know about pre-stain. That seems to really smooth out the stain. Thanks for that info! The van is amazing!
Thanks T! I din't know about that stuff either, watched it on a video and thought I'd give it a try... works great! Definitely evens out the stain so it doesn't look so blotchy.
Como siempre don Albert son buenísimo tus videos saludos desde San José Costa Rica 👌
Thank you Rafael!
Love the door handles 👌
I also love the dark stain but not my van 😂
Hi Aimee! Dark stain would probably look really good with a glossy coat of epoxy over it! :) Was my first choice... but I'm usually undecided until the end! LOL!
A interesting finish would be to burn the wood sand then stain
I always put 2 coats of stain on. It gives the wood more depth.
I did a couple sample pieces before I started... added several coats of stain to see how it would turn out. Decided on just one coat to keep it on the lighter side. Van is pretty dark on the inside, so adding a few lighter pieces changes the atmosphere a bit! :)
Skorva rails seem like an easy route to take. I plan to attach a slide out table for the dining area below the bed and I’m at a bit of a loss as to how you’d do that with these. I guess an L bracket?
Did you drill the wood sides right to the Ikea metal supports? This is what I would like to do on my van. I am just getting started. Enjoying your videos.
I did... I fastened the metal brackets where the frames overlapped. So there was at least 1-1/2" of wood to fasten to, I used 1-1/4" fasteners for the brackets. Very strong! Thank you lindadunlavey!
Looks good! I was wondering, I think in the early videos you mentioned lower cabinets. Is that still the plan? Doesn’t look like much room left after the bed install? BTW you are my Saturday after work binge.
Thanks for sharing
Thanks Kelly! For the lower cabinets... I think I was meaning the kitchen and seating area, I could have been calling it the wrong thing! LOL! Looking forward to getting those started soon... thanks for following along!
I have a friend who does the Batman and Robin thing with his son. Even has the m/c with sidecar.
Bet that looks super cool!
Looks really nice, Al. How wide is the van, side to side. And what size mattress is that, I’m guessing a queen? Looks like you’re using new video editing software. You did a great job with this video! Keep’em coming!
Thanks Dan... the van is actually pretty wide. Narrowed it up by about four inches or so by adding all the studs and walls. The bed is actually a little shorter than a full size, which is perfect. I don't plan on spending all my time in the bed, so it adds space to the front by using the full size.
Great job Al! I like the bed plywood base with all those openings: you didn't mention how they were made, was it with your CNC? Nice door handles! Yep, IKEA Skorva supports and their wall brackets are doing great for vans. Finally, there won't be any side windows in the van?
Thanks Raynald! For the bed platform, I made a jig for the slots and cut each one with a hand router... platform too big for CNC. I decided no windows on the sides for this one. I think if I do build another, I will install windows.
@OregonBatman I just bought a promaster, and have been watching your videos. I love your attention to detail. I want to build mine very similar to yours but don't have the same skill! I live in Bend Or. Might you consider fabricating the wood portion of the bed with carpet again?
I think it looks great your bed frame and cabinets pull handles for the cabinets doors. I am curious how did you have your batman pull handles made ordered from a company.
Thanks Lawrence! I had to search around for the pull handles... actually found them on Amazon. Perfect for my project! :)
@@OregonBatman Excellent work, Thanks
Hey I love your channel. I just made the wheel well boxes and carpeted them as you did. But now I’m wondering how to connect it so it looks clean without using brackets maybe kreg jig then cover holes with carpet? How did you do it?
I should have made a video how I installed those! I made the frame and installed over the wheel well first, that way I could fasten to wall. THEN I installed the paneling on the outside of the box. Now it is nice and secure. Now it makes me wish I would have done a video on that... didn't think people would much care. Anyway, hope that helps... and appreciate you checking out the channel!
@@OregonBatman thanks your videos have been very helpful in my build
Hello. Did you use anything to lock the cabinets closed so things don’t spill out when driving?
I do have latches on the cabinet doors, and with the struts I used, it keeps the doors closed pretty tight. I have had no issues with the upper cabinet doors opening while traveling!
Doing a bed frame like yours in my 136 Promaster. Can you tell me length along the sides of the van. Did you screw into van frame or furring strips. And what size screws? Great channel.
HI Doug... My bed is approx 54" x 70" and I fastend the bed frames into the wall framing I installed (check out the framing videos). I attached the studs to the van walls using a rivnut tool and fastened the bed frame using #12 x 1" screws. Holding up nicely! :)
Thank you. Can you tell me if you screwed the side pieces into the 1/2 plywood or into the Skorva beams?
@@dsd721 The brackets fastens to the walls, then the skorva beams rest in the notch of the side pieces. Half inch base over top fastened to the side pieces on bottom. Pretty solid
What are the cross bars called? I'm installing a elevated queen bed in my toy hauler and the metal cross beams are maybe what I would like to use.
There should be a link in the description f the video for the bed rails. They are called Skorva and are used as center supports for Ikea beds. They are a big help when installing the bed platform! Don't forget to look for the brackets as well... you'll need those to install the rails. Thanks for checking it out!
where did you get the carpet on the walls?
Hi there! Purchased the liner for the walls on Ebay... link below, thanks for checking out the video!
