This playing is not only strategic, but also soaring. I'm speechless. The piano accompaniment is superb. None of the soloist's goals can be achieved unless the accompaniment is equally up to the task. She is!
An absolutely BRILLIANT performance. But I've heard some artists do this piece mor tenderly and it wasn't about how fast the runs could be played. Wonderful job though. It just didn't really touch me emotionally. This man is definitely one of my favorites. ❤❤
Totally agree with you here! I also think that the technique is at service of music and not the opposite also, ts not that fast. Just well mastered. Amazingly done to my opinion. Bravo Denis!
I don't know why, but for me this delicate piece has something of Chinese about it (perhaps it revolving around five main notes ?). (It seems that its female composer, Misses Chaminade, has written it and dedicated it to her former husband as a... gift for his re-wedding with another woman !...)
It was her ex-boyfriend and he was a flutist. Cecile gave him the Concertino as a wedding gift on his wedding day (to a different woman). The next day, the wife's mother return the manuscript back to Cecile with a note attached that says: If you don't stop disturbing my daughter's husband, I'm gonna kill you.

@@juliaf9211 "эмоциональность, трепетность и неповторимость момента" как собственно и многие другие аспекты исполнительства, достигаются игрой звука, точностью штриха, агогикой, точным метроритмом и естественно динамикой. То, что у Дениса минимум манерности - это да. Но если не привязывать исполнение к картинке просто закрыв глаза, то вы услышите и "трепетность", и "неповторимость момента" и много чего ещё.
Сыграно мастерски! Идеальный баланс музыки и математики! Безупречное владение инструментом в сочетании с абсолютно четким пониманием творческой задачи, поставленной самому себе, и так же безупречно выполненной! Можно говорить о школах, тембрах, выразительности, но всё это будет вопросом вкуса в данном случае, что совершенно не отменяет того факта, что Денис великолепный, выдающийся флейтист и музыкант!

His sound in person is even more astonishing. I heard him in a master class in 2015. The colors he gets is unbelievable.

Совершенно не согласен. Просто все на высшем уровне. Отличная игра тембрами. Очень музыкально, продуманно и выразительно.
