By far the best performance I have ever heard of this piece. Magical!
Great performance ! Both of you.
Scherzo 4:06
Romance 6:26
Finale 11:35
Exceptional performance. Exceptional accompanist. Exceptional audience! I was beginning to wonder if those "bumps" at the bottom of the frame were cut outs but if you look closely they actually move a mm or two during the performance - what great concentration!
I thought they were stage lights for a second.
Ott with the hand movements of the pianist.
OMG I really want to play this piece! Your perfomance is perfect(as always)))!!!
Is there any doubt that this player is the best of his generation, and at some time at the top of his profession?I have no such doubts, even though through youtube, one discovers amazing players all the time.
Это лучшее что я слышал,спасибо Денис за свежее видео
発表会でこの曲を吹くのですがとても難しそうです。でも頑張ろうと思います。(15歳)
beautiful! Bravi! Both of You! Really beautiful!
Dennis gives a text book lesson on how to achieve a balanced flute sound in all registers. His Musicianship and Ideas ride on a flawless technique. This is compelling and impressive flute playing!
Oh my damn. He is killing it. 😍😍😍😢😢😭😭❤❤❤
INCREDIBLE! AMAZING!!!! This song is insanely hard!
Oh my goodness... That was beyond comprehension good!
Beautiful
I love your sound! Your vibrato and the colors that you use remind me of Wibb 😃❤
Who's Wibb?
William Bennett, Bouriakov's teacher
I 100% agree! I've fallen in love with him and his awesomeness.
@@khepeshimhotep1623Wibb was the nickname of the late William Bennett (Denis Bouriakov’s teacher at the Royal Academy of Music in London)
Dear Denis Buriakov its very beautyful i played at this time too Suite
The first three movements are easy, and musicality-wise it’s more about imagining a story being told by the music - which it is. But it’s when as a professional flautist you look at the fourth mvmt, Final, and go '- W-well…That "MIGHT" take a bit of practise', then Denis wipes us off our feet and makes it sound so damn easy!
3rd movement is most difficult for me
I love your performance!!!!!!!!
Extraordinary!!!!!!!
Браво!!!
Spettacolo!
Really amazing :)
I'm glad to hear to hear that Denis inspired you. He should. The best flutist I've ever heard ---- I've been playing and listening for over 30 years. He's the best.
Bello. Expresivo.
As a flutist, the horizontal angle of the flute affects embouchure. Pictures of posture show an ideal of 90 degrees to the body, but in all reality, not everyone's embouchure is optimal at that placement. I am most comfortable around 70 degrees, while others might find comfort at less that or more than 90 degrees.Same idea goes with lip placement on the lip plate. I knew someone who played with the left side of their mouth, instead of the center of their lips, and sounded great. :)
One shouldn't place the flute where the air is not going; that would be silly. The "hole" through which one blows is basically formed naturally and everyone has it. The trick is to discover the axis of this aperture, place the flute directly beneath this opening, tilt and turn the head with the flute in this constant relationship so that you can move your fingers properly and so that the condense-water drips down (and not into the head of the flute) and start refining this NOT redefining. Holding the flute lower on the flutists right side, for example, makes it easier to hold the flute with the right hand and higher forces the flutist to grip with the left hand. The position also makes the flute kinetically lighter in weight. I've always envied people with lips which part on the left side - they can keep their arms in front of them and needn't bring their (three-dimensional) right arm behind their bodies - ever.
There’s a lot of flutists who have what’s called the teardrop embouchure such as Jeffrey Khaner, Gina Luciani, and so many others
i don't understand why people judge his posture so much like just listen to this wonderful music, also i used to play the flute with it resting on my shoulder (don't know how, but stop critiquing him)
Yea i suffer those judgements lol. I play very similar in terms of posture, and my embouchure is a bit skew-whiff. And i'm playing this piece over in cyprus soon, so this recording is a big inspiration :)
bello!
The flute is now equal to the violin in expression now as far as I am concerned.
Not when I play it, it isn't.
@@johnwakefield7373 same John, same
@potato psoas the flute (its a joke)

We been knew.
its amazing! There are special recordings? Or the sound of the camera?
Good!!!
СУпер!
Does the beginning of the Scherzo remind anyone of the Suite Modale Mvt 3
댓글이 다 영어여서 저가 올립니다 -^^ 아주 잘하시네요 저도 풀룻 전공자입니다 저보다 잘허시네요
Love it! Bouriakov conveys the romanticism of the composition with great ease and without the listener being terribly aware of it. I believe the scherzo mvmt. should have more energy taken at a faster clip, rather than as relaxed and sweet as he takes it, but the other mvmts work for me well. Bravo, Bouriakov!
Great!!! 👏👏👏
6:30 for mvt 3
goJesusandStarcraft lol i like jesus, starcraft lotv and flute. Check out "an evening with james galway"

When the world bends around, when the structures of a civilization falter, it is good to return to that which in history does not flex, but on the contrary recovers courage, gathers the separated, pacifies without bruising. It’s worth recalling that the genius of creation is also at work in an history devoted to the destruction.....
You don't sink if you can float. Everything is floating right with you - at one's disposal.
@@howardcohen6817 Yes I can :)
@@MegaCirse Can sink or float? Both??
whoa!
is this a good piece for conservatory auditions?
Of course it is :)
Yes 👌🏻

I agree ---- not only of "his" generation --- but generations past as well. Step aside, Galway, you've been replaced.
there's no need for rudeness. There's plenty room for world class flutists in the world.
listen to six pieces Flute and piano / fikret amirov....
Another thing is that Mr. Bouriakov's head tilted to the right. If you look at the angle of the flute to his mouth, it's closer to 90 degrees than it looks. Then again, maybe it's just my eyes?
The most glorious sound! Excellent hall! What flute do you use Denis if its not a secret? I will invite you to the Philippines to play someday!
obviously altus....😊
Where can I find this particular arrangement with the more difficult ending in the finale to purchase? Does anyone know?
MPA thank you

I thinked that Widor have writed good music ,same
for flote and for organ solo.
Not that I know of. He was mainly known for his organ writing (and playing). There is a transcription for flute and organ of the second mvt of his fourth organ symphony, but I believe that's it.
and listen, maria laforet vien vien...
He is an Altus flute artist. (Very expensive).
Altus flutes are solid instruments and I know because I play on one (I play on the 1107 to be specific)
Denis' playing is marvelous. Is it the hand-made Altus flute at work --- or is it Denis' talent?
I'm of the opinion that he could play an "intermediate" flute and sound just as well. Altus builds very expensive flutes.
Jim -- he could play on a reed and it would sound amazing. It’s the performer. He’s that good.
Denis is amazing!!! You should also hear his wife; She’s amazing in her own right!!
I agree with what Bouriakov is doing in this performance. I would have to hear you play and talk with you more to know where you are coming from. So many schools, and they each have different values and priorities. Music performance has come to be completely political!
Wow, its amazing! But I have one doubt. Which edition of the suite are you playing?
Because I have the Paris Heugel edition, and the 4th movement is very different, bunt I like this version a lot.
Southern Music Company edition will do. Hope this helps. :)
Dear everybody, check out Denis Bouriakov as a child! Write his name in Russian in you tube: Денис Викторович Буряков
awesome, I never would have seen this until now! Thank you :)
It may well address embouchure. Rampal played closer to a vertical position, due to his upper "split" lip. Paula Robision is the only flutist who often plays in an exaggerated "up" position". Often her flute is far higher than her body.
both of them are very good .... i hear galway's sound in him flute ... of course Galway is greatest flutist ...
Pahud is the greatest flutist lol
greatest schmae-test.
a convenient omission, eh? ;)
Don't think so. (Do you mean the beginning of the scherzo?) If you don't do this segue from the first movement there is no need to play this introduction on the flute doubling the piano-part (which acts as a reminder of the first theme motive of the first movement) especially if you don't play the repeat (which omission DID disturb me - I don't think they'd make decide that way, today - what's a scherzo without this repeat?) so that the octave c's work even better. Even if you do repeat playing the h's in the flute-part the c's work even better leaving out the first introductory octave-doublings, I feel.
This is amazing! I still don't understand why flutists can't hold their flutes up more, though.
bcoz they sound better this way, that's why. I would be surprised if u have not came to that conclusion yourself
His embouchure is also very off centered so he has to have the flute angled down more than others
I'm sure you know this by now as you wrote this seven years ago, but the flute is lighter this way and you can hold the flute more balanced with the right hand. Pressing and releasing and pressing the right pinky affects this balance less and, well, quite a few other reasons.
Never listened to a more insensible interpretation before!
care to elaborate?
Maybe that is because u are looking him and his movements. If u only close your eyes u can appreciate a very good version and so sensitive and sensible. ;)
If you can play music for an audience, then why the hell do you still need sheet music?
Stupid comment. Are you even a musician?
A stupid comment is a comment that does not provide any arguments for such a bold statement.
And yes, I play the piano.
Are u a piano performance major?
No.
ah, ok. I see where that other guy is coming from. have u ever experience the responsibility to perform large quantities of extremely high level music before? if so, then I think you'd get it
