We have been following your videos for a few weeks now and love your adventures. We have hired from Chirk Marina a few times and love the Llangollen Canal. Going over the ponycysyllte aqueduct was an amazing experience.
I love your videos, all of them, but for some reason this one really struck home and made me miss being on my boat and being on the water. Boating here in Puget Sound (and western Canada) is quite different than narrowboating, but still we all have a boat and it's on the water and I maneuvered my boat too. Ah sigh. Oh, yes, we feel the same way about wind here too. Maybe sailboaters enjoy the wind, but powerboaters and narrowboaters don't!! You may not post your videos for a week or so after you were there, and maybe none of us are on the boat with you (maybe thank heavens for that!!), but know that we're with you, especially solo boaters, we're right in your right hand back pocket. 🙂 Thanks Heidi. Your roof is gorgeous. Keep your bottom wet. Cheers!
I travel solo a lot on a small cruiser. 2019 I went to Llan for the Eisteddfod. Soloing locks I'm used to (that trip was 400 miles 600 locks in total) but on the Llan they have a special 'gotcha' for soloists, lift bridges. The bridges themselves are not really issue, the problem is that the landing stages are on the opposite bank to the lifting mechanism. So if you moor correctly, cross the bridge and open it - you can't back. Great planning! I usually just nose up to the bridge and hop off with a long rope I can keep hold of while I open the bridge, then pull the boat through by hand.
Yeah they don’t like you nosing bridges with a 22 tonne steel boat unfortunately but I managed a way through them all by going diagonal and faffing about … very similar to my adventures on the Peak forest and Leeds Liverpool 😃🏴☠️

Heidi, enjoyed seeing the English countryside, and you always know how much and when to play your beautiful music for us. Thanks for sharing. Best wishes, Deb
My favorite Canal (Llangollen). I think this was where you were when I found this channel. Keep the coal coming so that the inside of your boat doesn't freeze. With all this rain the canals must be filling up for winter. Nice warm jacket you got on, woke up at -4 C this morning. That guy's jack russell made me miss my jacks. I know how you feel about being outside in the fall. My favorite time of the year and I'll be splitting wood all day.

What a zest for life you have! I wish I could pass along the amazing weather we’re having here in Collingwood, Ontario, on the shores of Georgian Bay. A high of 23 degrees and sunny today!
