- This 1960s obscure vinyl record, finally restored via ai music magic, made waves on the beaches of California and kickstarted the careers of surf rock/pop legends Freddy and The Shore Trotters. It also happened to coin a term that wouldn’t catch on until the early 21st century. “Freddy was ahead of his time,” Chet Trotter said in a 1988 Rolling Stone interview in Kokomo. “Which was a bit funny because he was actually held back a year in school. So he was eighteen that summer, which means the song isn’t as problematic as people - look, it was a different time OK?” Freddy would use the proceeds of his pool boy escapades to self-fund their first demo. “He spent all that money on the band when he could have bought swimming lessons,” Trotter said. “And then he never would have written I Can’t F**king swim. And we’d still be working in a surf shop somewhere. Some things are just meant to be.”

Lyrics:
It's the summer again and you got outta school
You're a regular guy who likes cleanin' a pool
You get called for some jobs, they'll help pay for fuel
But those gals are all hangin' out, claimin' they're just stayin' cool
(Watch out for those Nappa Valley cougars)
Watch out for these ladies layin' in their beach chairs
They say they'll oil your back, if you first oil theirs
They're always winkin' at you
They'll make a kissy-face
And If their husbands ain't home
They'll wanna crush your grapes
(Watch out for those Nappa Valley cougars)
I say that I've done my job, I'll take my pay if that's cool
They say we'll double your rate if you join us in the pool
I say I can't f**kin' swim and they roll their eyes so cruel
They say squeeze these for flotation now jump in you young fool
(Watch out for those Nappa Valley cougars)
Watch out when the ladies that make you cover them in lotion
They say they'll pay you triple if you don't cause a commotion
They're always bendin' over and then winkin' at you
But once they've had their fun
You'll still have to clean the pool
(Watch out for those Nappa Valley cougars)
Watch out
They'll wear you out
Their men are out
Just go home now

Another lost Beach Boys song.
B side on the Best of Beach boys, previously known as the Pool Boys!
The description quoting them trying to explain away the age gap to then frustratingly giving up and appealing that it was a different time was funny as hell. Love your music restorations man.
The name alone sounds like a low budget Porno😂😂😂😂
As great as listening to these culturally significant songs is, the real joy is clicking on "show more" and reading the history behind them. Almost Vinyl is a true music historian.
Women have the best floatation devices 😂
This sounds like an 80s Beach Boys throwback, written by Mike Love without any help from Brian Wilson. The voice model is 80s Mike Love
Yes. Mike love would be nothing without Brian Wilson.
You say getting mauled by a cougar like it's a bad thing.
I started a pool cleaning business after the very first time I heard this song. That was 1965 and I was a senior at Glendale Community College. I have never regretted that decision. It made my life and I made a lot of cougars along the way.
I am happy to see and hear real music from the 60's. Nowadays it is all fake music.
Did he ever figure out what the f*ck that noise from his car was?
July 20 1964
I think the lucky guys in today's society is called a Tanning Buffer ,how Awesome
I need me a cougar, my hand hurts
My mom was the inspiration for this song.
😂
My grandma.
Can someone from Almost Vinyl contact me?
Hi. We have a contact email listed in our channel description (we don't post it in the comments because of bots and all that).
Ah the 1960s. An innocent time, without the nanny state. What a great time to be a teenager.
God bless you please Mrs Robinson
