They were not at first interested but needed money and their first album became a one hit wonder, with this song being the hit, their second album tanked and Julius was unhappy with his agent because his agent was a major prick. In an interview, audio only, Julius mentioned that his agent would "wake me up when was halfway done with my girlfriend, only for me to see him screaming all sorts obscenities not just to the boss but to anybody who he felt threatened due to his massive ego." Then in your comment, it was he who sued Hanna-Barbara, not the entire group but they helped out, not for copyright reasons, but because, guess who, the very same agent, in his late 50s, tried to be sneaky and get a quick cash grab. Julius never sang after and became a chef at a restaurant in Florida, died of natural causes just a year before the agent was released, the rest of the group went their own ways, one became a college music teacher, retired in his 80s living in Tahoe, another one however, tragically, was killed one month after the trial, reason unknown but many suspect mugging gone bad,the third and final member tried to continue his singing career but it fell flat, he ended up dead outside an alley near Caesar's Palace casino from a heroin overdose, a secret he kept from the group and family for a long time. This is just an idea but I thought it could make your story have a little lore to it.
