Which, ironically enough, was named after her Ron/Ginny fic. CC will never not be I'm seated and watching for me.

The reason The Shade Room reading CoHo made it onto the list was probably that TSR is mainly about supporting Black people/celebs/creatives for a predominantly Black audience. Them suddenly throwing in CoHo promo was pretty much the last thing anyone expected.

With CC's new book, Sword Catcher, the similarities are that our MC Kel is an orphan who is taken in by the royal family to protect the royal prince lmao. Having actually just read ADSOM, it's funny how similar that premise is, but I think the similarities end there after reading the snyopsis.
anybody who thinks every book should get 3 stars automatically is probably writing 2 star books🥴 and I don't know anything about this situation so the thing I'm still stuck on: I get why they cancelled the coloring book, but I'd like to know Why. Like, was all that stuff really gonna be IN the book? did they cancel it just because of bad vibes, or were they really about to have people coloring in bruises so they had to scratch it for real??? i gotta know (not really)
This is such a small thing honestly but book twt is having a war rn over this Twitter user who was going on a crusade against pirating books and she created a spreadsheet of everyone who disagreed with her and she was going to send it around to authors so no one could get ARCs/they would be generally black listed 😬 Very weird and kind of funny
The $800 bookstore return story was someone who was staging a home for an open house. So they had no plans to read the book, and went to a local store instead of one of the business that sell books by the foot for that exact reason.
i love it when cindy gets extra nerdy around her channel i promise but her rants and/or all kinds of bookish drama are what i secretly enjoy the most i said what i said i am only human

Your categories are priceless! I will forever compartmentalize drama in this fashion. (p.s. thank you for your infinite wisdom and honest views. I live for this!)
Love how this video is posted on the same day that I've been following the drama with the author who said idc how poor you are and which 3rd world country you're from buy books instead of pirating, offered only US centric alternatives for places to get books and made spreadsheet of people's @s who've allegedly pirated books
20:45 You should see Hindi Cinema’s depictions of Writers in some movies: They have spacious homes, excellent taste in furniture, impeccable shelves and being busy jet setting.
This is why I want it to be REQUIRED for every author to take formal writing classes, because some of them CLEARLY need to experience being repeatedly ripped to shreds in a group critique. I can always guess which writers are "self taught" and sheltered by how sensitive they are.
@floralreads3601 this author called Shay Miranda made a list of 'problematic readers' they were all readers who have admitted to or openly pirate books. She made the list so that other authors could exclude these specific readers and prevent them from getting arcs. Wild 😭
the romance books expectation thing has always been so funny to me. cis het male fantasies/expectations are enforced for no other reason for they prefer women to act, look, & behave in a certain way (& for "preserving privilege/power reasons" but that's besides the point). women give in, bend, & twists themselves into their fantasies. I don't think what's in romance books is asking for too much or raising expectations too high. in fact, i think women should demand more. now they have the autonomy/resources to actually stand firm in those demands.
ebooks/audiobooks not counting as reading may be easy bait but the possibility anyone could actually think that is insanity to me because audiobooks are going to be the only reason i consume any books at all this year LMAO I'm legitimately too ADHD to focus on book long enough to get to the good part if i can't 1.15-2x speed while drawing or playing a game. 💀
I listened to a podcast episode where they interviewed the lady whose wife made up the cancer via the fault in our stars and they didn't mention anything abt that aspect but it's actually an incredibly harrowing story tbh and I feel so bad for her
I feel the same way about the CoHo coloring book. Like, who were the people who signed off on that??? There are so many ideas for CoHo book merch that would make sense (and not just the kind of merch that would call out how unromantic and dangerous a lot of her romances are lol) and would make the publishers a butt ton of money, but they went for something that some naive shelf stocker at target could mistakingly put out next to bluey and paw patrol stuff? Like, really, a coloring book??? Like here’s a no-effort, piles of cash guaranteed idea from the top of my head: take the most flowery, romantic-sounding quotes from her books, add in some lovey stock art, and then make it into one of those coffee table-type books with the title “best CoHo quotes” or “Love from the CoHo universe” or something like that. Boom, instant money printer with no backlash (well, at least not any more than the typical CoHo release would get lol).
Having read the synopsis and a couple of reviews from Cassandra Clare’s new book, it does share quite a few similarities with ADSOM. Even ignoring the name, the main character was an orphan who was brought into the royal family to protect the prince and they end up as close as brothers. There’s also a character called Lin who is ostracised for her magical powers (and Lin is not super far off from Lila, name-wise). However, I would need to read the book to tell how far the similarities go after that.

Cindy is here to spill all the tea and we love to see it!!
unfortunately most of it is lukewarm tea
it's taking every single fiber in my being to not just pause and read the whole drama list at once 😭😭😭
be patient i will go over all of them babe
Thank you for naming the tiers with such great names. Now that’s iconic.
ur welcome
I'm still on the floor about the fake cancer-TFIOS thing to be honest, I just can't wrap my head around it
tbh she served for that
I think the reason why the Cassie Claire thing is more than just bait is because she was caught plagiarizing when she was a Harry Potter fic writer and she was accused of stealing ideas from another writer to write the Mortal Instruments. Which, ironically enough, was named after her Ron/Ginny fic. CC will never not be I'm seated and watching for me.
cindy's exhaustion by the end is palpable
im so tired
"British people scare me, I don't wanna touch that." Me too, sis, me too 🫂
heartstopper was their only good representation
Booktok has been pretty chill. I deleted my Twitter years ago an have never felt better as a reader 😂
proud of u for doing so
😌 but I’ll always have my popcorn ready for a bite sized summary and you dragging them all
sebastiangate was terrible to witness as someone in the fandom 😭 his stans were attacking EVERYBODY who criticized him, whether it be fellow hs fan accounts or literal authors like aiden thomas and mason deaver. and they kept pushing the “he wasn’t aware at the time” narrative and were convinced that everyone else just wanted to see his downfall for whatever reason ?? the mental gymnastics were insane
The reason The Shade Room reading CoHo made it onto the list was probably that TSR is mainly about supporting Black people/celebs/creatives for a predominantly Black audience. Them suddenly throwing in CoHo promo was pretty much the last thing anyone expected.
"I can continue to write my books AND be left alone" Cindy is a whole mood
that's the dream
9:50 they were married 😭her wife lies and scammed her. Crazy she stuck to the lie for almost 2 years 😭like that’s dedication
that is wildddd like how does she come up with new material after a while
That feels like a lot already for 2023. Can we just call off the rest of the drama for the year? Please and thank you
yes im done now. will no longer be accepting any more drama for the rest of the year.
lol i thought I was part of the book community until i saw this...i knew none of this stuff the only drama I remember is this girl getting a lot of backlash for writing a bad review about babel bc she felt like she was getting attacked for being white, and i don't even remember if that was this month
that was last year!
I love this channel so much. Cindy you made such a nice space for me to feel comfortable in within the online book community. As a Black person it becomes so difficult to navigate through the bullshit. Coming here and knowing I am supporting someone who sees things for what they are but also keeping a welcoming and cozy atmosphere is amazing. Thank you!
i'm really glad! thank you
Cindy: “British people scare me.”
Gavin Heatherington: (audibly gasps)
I’m just kidding. Also, some BRITISH people need to chill on the subject of Meghan Markle. She is not the public enemy you paint her out to be.
ppl's hatred for meghan is so weird
As a Brit, rest assured that VAST majority do not care about the royals/the drama/meghan blah as much as the American/British media says we do. But we also care a lot more about the andrew stuff than the media says too.
@@rsmith4407 Interesting indeed.
Yes she really isn't, glad she's standing up for herself tho
another brit, couldnt care less about meghan, and harry’s book is consistently clowned on in my circle of friends, mostly due to the audiobook.
one of the things i love about you is how you always somehow manage to upload during my break. we so in synced ☺
gotta cater to ur schedule!!
love watching ur videos as someone not on booktok / booktube so i get all the tea without all the drama and confusion its so slay
i gotchu boo
There’s so much book drama in January itself. I mean, wow to all our brain cells which will need all the strength we can muster 🔥
most of it is just the same discourse anyway
With CC's new book, Sword Catcher, the similarities are that our MC Kel is an orphan who is taken in by the royal family to protect the royal prince lmao. Having actually just read ADSOM, it's funny how similar that premise is, but I think the similarities end there after reading the snyopsis.
the premises are similar but ehh i dont think its a big deal esp when even fanfic writers have gotten published
This gonna sound ridiculous but im almost sure i read 4 books with this trope and some mawha's too.
anybody who thinks every book should get 3 stars automatically is probably writing 2 star books🥴
and I don't know anything about this situation so the thing I'm still stuck on: I get why they cancelled the coloring book, but I'd like to know Why. Like, was all that stuff really gonna be IN the book? did they cancel it just because of bad vibes, or were they really about to have people coloring in bruises so they had to scratch it for real??? i gotta know (not really)
im assuming u were just gonna color in the flowers on the cover rather than the actual content
Cindy really knows what kind of content we want from her
This is such a small thing honestly but book twt is having a war rn over this Twitter user who was going on a crusade against pirating books and she created a spreadsheet of everyone who disagreed with her and she was going to send it around to authors so no one could get ARCs/they would be generally black listed 😬 Very weird and kind of funny
my goal is to be on this list
The $800 bookstore return story was someone who was staging a home for an open house. So they had no plans to read the book, and went to a local store instead of one of the business that sell books by the foot for that exact reason.
i love it when cindy gets extra nerdy around her channel i promise but her rants and/or all kinds of bookish drama are what i secretly enjoy the most i said what i said i am only human
my next video will be a rant review so u will be thriving this month
If Sarah J Mass and Colleen Hoover did a collab, I think Cindy would finally lose it. Honestly so would I.
honestly if i published a book & knew it was doing well enough to get reviews i would just disappear into the ether like WHY would you want to read your own reviews??? if you’re getting the money just be silent and appreciative
ppl are morbidly curious!! i dont blame them for that but dont resent others for it lol
I don’t read my reviews anymore. At first I would have a friend read them for me!
8:46 I’ve seen this so much in the film space. Insecure artists tearing down criticism and downplaying their role in larger discourse. Professional Critics are not the enemy.
Edit: Cindy mentioned it too.
yea its important to set boundaries and not lash out due to insecurity!!
Have you read Legends and Lattes? It's the coziest lil fantasy book about an orc pursuing her dream of having a coffee shop
ive heard of it!
Is it good?
Your categories are priceless! I will forever compartmentalize drama in this fashion. (p.s. thank you for your infinite wisdom and honest views. I live for this!)
You're so welcome!
THAT SEAMLESS AD INTEGRATION THO!!! I adore that. That's true good writer stuff!
Netflix: “Don’t f**k with cats.”
Cindy: “Don’t f**k with TERFs and Author Drama.”
i try to stay far away but they find me somehow
Holy shit all of this in January? Lmao I'm so not invested in book world but damn it's good to hear some drama
this vid is here to catch u up
Love how this video is posted on the same day that I've been following the drama with the author who said idc how poor you are and which 3rd world country you're from buy books instead of pirating, offered only US centric alternatives for places to get books and made spreadsheet of people's @s who've allegedly pirated books
i wanna pirate that list of piraters
Cindy is my favorite furry drama channel.
AWOOOOOO
20:45 You should see Hindi Cinema’s depictions of Writers in some movies: They have spacious homes, excellent taste in furniture, impeccable shelves and being busy jet setting.
haha if ONLY being a rich writer was that easy
If you ever did a Ziwe-style interview show with controversial authors, that would be ICONIC ✨
me changing my name tag to say Cho Ch*nk during the episode with JK Rowling
cant believe so much stuff happened in a month
gotta start off the year strong
This is why I want it to be REQUIRED for every author to take formal writing classes, because some of them CLEARLY need to experience being repeatedly ripped to shreds in a group critique. I can always guess which writers are "self taught" and sheltered by how sensitive they are.
I was on booktwt for a millisecond and the first thing I saw was a problematic reader list that one author made 😭😭
problematic... reader... list?
gonna need you to elaborate on this asap omg
@floralreads3601 this author called Shay Miranda made a list of 'problematic readers' they were all readers who have admitted to or openly pirate books. She made the list so that other authors could exclude these specific readers and prevent them from getting arcs. Wild 😭
I heard "multiple authors going after reviewers" as "multiple authors going after beavers" and was SO intrigued ahahaha
Me being happy for Cindy getting that Ad Revenue Coin by that ✨impeccable✨ACOTAR Segue: “Get her, J!”
as always i continue to profit off acotar
As someone who doesn't hear the drama, not on booktok or book twitter I am so ready to hear all the tea 🍵
Book drama tier list? I am getting ALL of the popcorn for this video
get extra butter too
the romance books expectation thing has always been so funny to me. cis het male fantasies/expectations are enforced for no other reason for they prefer women to act, look, & behave in a certain way (& for "preserving privilege/power reasons" but that's besides the point). women give in, bend, & twists themselves into their fantasies.
I don't think what's in romance books is asking for too much or raising expectations too high. in fact, i think women should demand more. now they have the autonomy/resources to actually stand firm in those demands.
ur absolutely right
This was so much fun! A great idea for a recurring series.
Glad you think so! i dont think its sustainable every month tho lolol
@@withcindy quarterly lol!
I love this type of video and I’m all for it, mostly because I somehow live with my head in the sand and had no idea about most of this. So thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Not usually my kind of video, but the way you make it so entertaining with being so blunt, and cut and dry Cindy makes it worth it
I’m so happy we’re Tier Ranking in this video and that too, on Cindy’s favourite topic. 👏🏽
yall seem to like tier ranking videos!!
Can we keep this series up for the rest of the year please
depends on my tolerance
ebooks/audiobooks not counting as reading may be easy bait but the possibility anyone could actually think that is insanity to me because audiobooks are going to be the only reason i consume any books at all this year LMAO I'm legitimately too ADHD to focus on book long enough to get to the good part if i can't 1.15-2x speed while drawing or playing a game. 💀
Truly flawless transition into the sponsorship. 10/10
my smoothest transition yet
FORTY FOUR drama bullet points??? That’s more than one per day book tok is WILD
Happy to know that I’m intimately acquainted with No. 26 because I saw that thread explode and I CACKLED 😂
i wanna see the thread, link me
@@withcindy It’ll take some digging but I’ll check it out.
