Im really bothered that, no matter the side of the aisle im on, nobody seems to really understand what “Woke” means from this channel all the way to the former Illuminaughty channel, to OSP. “Woke” to me, in the modern sense, i feel refers not simply to progressive ideology. It refers to a practice in which a company, such a disney, gillette, or budlight, uses intersectional politics (race, gender, nationality, religion, etc) as a means to pander to particular markets of people, regardless whether the core principles of the message reflect the values of the entity conducting the pandering. Gillette putting out an ad, pandering to women by denouncing the men as promoting toxic masculinity? That’s woke. But not because it’s left wing. It’s because they are doing it for marketing purposes towards women. I do not believe it is sufficient to simplify wokeness to being anything Left Wing, or anything about African-Americans, or anything about lgbtqia+, etc. I use it to identify a very specific practice that is harmful to all parties involved. Used in this sense, the phrase “get woke, get broke” has more context.

And having vitiligo options in every game, and seeing people with vitiligo all over department store advertisements, has been starting to creep me out. IRL I've met two other people apart from myselr with a skin like vitiligo, but in the world of advertisement it's like, fucking everywhere. I will never get over that Anita Sarkeesian clip where she talks about Hitman. Not only are you actively punished for killing non-targets, but you also can't use their outfits so there's not much benefit to incapacitating them unless you need the area cleared of witnesses. I think the treatment of Stellar Blade vs. Baldur's Gate 3 is pretty spot on. I've noticed this with Hades 2 as another example, being heavily praised for all the 'sexy' characters. One can only look at the differences in design philosophy to gather why one is considered ok and the other is not. There also seems to be a strong bias against the common Asian designs, hence "anime girl" often being used as an insult.
Baldurs Gate 3 falls apart when it comes to the woke argument since people WANNA hate it but cant since its too good of an RPG/video game so people end up just grumbling over it. Its just that modern DnD is so popular with western females.

The problem with "write what you know" and this generation is that nobody has any real lived experience aside from watching a TV show or playing a video game. Having "politics" in a story or game isn't the issue, the problem is when the medium is being obviously used as propaganda to push some divise issue. People can smell it instantly and the backlash is almost always justified.

I’m personally right wing and obviously I understood much of the political undertones of the show that were anti right wing and anti trump. Despite that I still liked the show due to the unique concept. But in season 4 it genuinely became so obvious I couldn’t really enjoy it anymore. Yup, the moment I see diverse characters. I start making a check box list to see if it fits the usual left propaganda. White/Black male? Straight? Strong jaw chick with ugly side cut? It's easy nowadays to see if it is an legit game with a soul or just propaganda fest.
Media can have political messages and opinions. But it becomes a problem when that starts negatively impacting the overall movie. Captain America has a lot of political messaging in his movies. Nobody complained until the new Falcon and the Winter Soldier show came out. That movie shoved political rhetoric down my throat. It also doesn’t make sense. Falcon at the end gives a speech where his advice is to “do better”. And he also literally defends terrorists. I’m not sure but it felt it was supposed to be like how people were defending the BLM riots.

The problem with "write what you know" is that it needs to be paired with "learn as you go". When I wrote my first book I had to study all sorts of things in order to make the book make sense. I read many genres of fiction in order to broaden the base of my inspiration. Today's writers are too incestuous with regard to their references which then makes everything generic and stale.

You missed an opportunity to talk about those in Pokemon Inc hiring the consultant company GaymerX to change the already existing character models of Pokémon Go. Seeing how the characters look before the consultant company is night and day, they were too deformed to be changed back to the way they looked before without an update reverting back.

So creating a character which looks like... well, greek god makes sense. In Gears of War almost every character is built like a fridge and design is inspired by those 80's-90's action movies with Schwarzenegger and Stallone. Meanwhile you have Abby in Last of Us 2 set in post-apocaliptic world, where people barely scraping by and she looks like a roided Mike Tyson in drag... Also, when it comes to good looking characters in video games (especially women): people nowadays appreciate them because when they see them they know that developers aren't scared to do what they want and deliver what players like. Those developers don't pretend that they are above everyone else.

That was was her goal. Her goal was to subvert the media and push her ideology. When you look at ancient civilizations like Greece, Rome, Mongola, Japan, you have a pelthora of origin stories about the people and society. You have archetypes and people who you look up to and (in a physical and mental sense), want to emulate, like Achilles, Romulus, etc. By participating in the respected institutions of said societies, you could, in some part, effectively 'live out' the life, and emulate those icons of ancient mythos. Since the end of WWII, I would say that we no longer have organic myths and fairy tales. All our 'larger than life' heroes have been commerialized, be it Link, Master Chief, whatever or whoever. Hell, even WWII itself has been utterly commercialized and mystified, becoming a saturday-morning caricature of what actually happened. I posit that because today's fictional protagonists partake in things that are so utterly fantastical, it destroys a person's sense of scale and how change is made. For one, your understanding of how world change is made is ballooned by having a culture of characters that "Literally do everything". From the New Vegas courier to Captain America, only half a dozen people matter, and the rest of the world just sits on pause and do literally nothing. Second, a person's sense of scale is destroyed, because these stories make things like wars finish in a matter of days, rather than years. Tying back to point one, the entire thing seems to be done by only a few dozen people, if even that many. This ultimately explains why people are so obsessed with ousting people at the top of proverbial "political food chain", because they think, as per their entertainment, that cutting the head off the snake is the only way to solve everything. Literally all our "mythology" does this, so why shouldn't we be able to? Ultimately, when the average person realized they cannot do this, they get depressed and grow psychotic. Further, they ignore that change starts small and begins at the local level. Sure, federal politics in the US affect me, but if I live in Kansas, I can only change the politics of Kansas, and should focus my efforts there. I cannot change the politics of Idaho or Vermont.

I always find the talk about representation in games crazy, cause since i was a kid, every time i was about to pick or create a character i would choose to play as the opposite of who i am in real life, or with something that doesn't even exists like orcs It seem sad honestly, to picture that there are actual people out there who actively want to be inserted onto fantasy worlds as themselves instead of creating new adventures with a character that actually belongs on the setting
Here's the thing about the whole "diversity" stuff. Gaming was always a diverse medium. Even before the activists came. It had characters of all different walks of life. Nobody needed to self insert themselves into everything. But the activists who subverted gaming cannot see this. Because they never cared too. they took a glance, called it problematic and went to make changes. because all they ever wanted to do was push their own ideology into gaming and use it as a way to get more people to the cause. This idea postulates that beauty propagates an evil, heirachical, capitalistic standard and should be destroyed. Art should instead be ugly, abstract, and not representative of real groups barring the marginalized. This art is hostile and ugly on purpose because there is an underlying political philosophy which sees beauty as an inherently evil concept, which is a belief I think many of these CalArts milennials follow into their workplaces. They don't just wish to design characters ugly for the sake of diversity, they actively abhor anything with any sense of traditional beauty standards including as basic as color theory.

As for female bodybuilders, I’m by no means an expert, but I’m almost certain they have to take TONS of supplements, including anabolic steroids in a lot of cases (testosterone boosters). It’s not just diet related, women literally need to take supplements, and in most cases do serious damage to their bodies in order to build the type of physique Abby has. It’s not natural. That’s not an ‘attack’ on female bodybuilders, I respect the grind and it’s extremely impressive how massive some women are, but it simply is not possible to do naturally, and that’s a fact. So unless Abby found a stockpile of anabolic steroids and tons of protein to eat every day, it’s a fantasy character in an otherwise extremely grounded world. I’d get called a misogynist by a lot of people for pointing that out, they’ll say I’m just making excuses to hate her because I find her unattractive, which I don’t even know how to reply to. She is unattractive, but I wouldn’t be complaining if that was my only gripe, I guess I’m just not allowed to want stories to make logical sense? Bodybuilders are juiced up to the eyeballs. The stuff they take is crazy and it's not just the guys doing it. It's completely unrealistic to have a female character with Abby's build in TLoU2, just like it would be completely unrealistic to have a guy built like Arnie in his prime because they couldn't get the drugs and there's no way they could get enough calories and protein to build or maintain that kind of body. Having some muscles wouldn't be unrealistic if the character was slim/skinny but of course that wouldn't fit with their agenda - doing it like that would result in Abby looking like a normal athletic girl.

She is a fantasy character lost in a "crude" and "realistic" apocalypse. Osamu Tezuka, the man who created Astro Boy and spearheaded the manga industry back in post-war Japan, was basically a proto-furry even down to having curvy busty animal ladies in some of his works and even being into sexualized transformation sequences. So yeah, this stuff has been around WAY longer the modern furry fandom has, regardless of how one might feel about it.

baldurs gate 3 was made by many different people over the years. Everyone agrees the first act is awesome the second is ok and the last feels like it wasnt made by the same people, most of the woke stuff was at the later parts of the game and were added late in development. AAA titles suck because of invasive monetisation in an economic slope. Games used to come out off-the-shelf ready at $20-$40. “Woke” to me, in the modern sense, i feel refers not simply to progressive ideology. It refers to a practice in which a company, such a disney, gillette, or budlight, uses intersectional politics (race, gender, nationality, religion, etc) as a means to pander to particular markets of people, regardless whether the core principles of the message reflect the values of the entity conducting the pandering.
Gillette putting out an ad, pandering to women by denouncing the men as promoting toxic masculinity? That’s woke. But not because it’s left wing. It’s because they are doing it for marketing purposes towards women.
I do not believe it is sufficient to simplify wokeness to being anything Left Wing, or anything about African-Americans, or anything about lgbtqia+, etc. I use it to identify a very specific practice that is harmful to all parties involved. Used in this sense, the phrase “get woke, get broke” has more context.

I don't have vitiligo, but I have a related skin condition. And having vitiligo options in every game, and seeing people with vitiligo all over department store advertisements, has been starting to creep me out. IRL I've met two other people apart from myselr with a skin like vitiligo, but in the world of advertisement it's like, fucking everywhere. I will never get over that Anita Sarkeesian clip where she talks about Hitman. Not only are you actively punished for killing non-targets, but you also can't use their outfits so there's not much benefit to incapacitating them unless you need the area cleared of witnesses. I think the treatment of Stellar Blade vs. Baldur's Gate 3 is pretty spot on. I've noticed this with Hades 2 as another example, being heavily praised for all the 'sexy' characters. One can only look at the differences in design philosophy to gather why one is considered ok and the other is not. There also seems to be a strong bias against the common Asian designs, hence "anime girl" often being used as an insult.
Baldurs Gate 3 falls apart when it comes to the woke argument since people WANNA hate it but cant since its too good of an RPG/video game so people end up just grumbling over it. Its just that modern DnD is so popular with western females.

Yup, the moment I see diverse characters. I start making a check box list to see if it fits the usual left propaganda. White/Black male? Straight? Strong jaw chick with ugly side cut? It's easy nowadays to see if it is an legit game with a soul or just propaganda fest.
Media can have political messages and opinions. But it becomes a problem when that starts negatively impacting the overall movie. Captain America has a lot of political messaging in his movies. Nobody complained until the new Falcon and the Winter Soldier show came out. That movie shoved political rhetoric down my throat. It also doesn’t make sense. Falcon at the end gives a speech where his advice is to “do better”. And he also literally defends terrorists. I’m not sure but it felt it was supposed to be like how people were defending the BLM riots.

The problem with "write what you know" is that it needs to be paired with "learn as you go". When I wrote my first book I had to study all sorts of things in order to make the book make sense. I read many genres of fiction in order to broaden the base of my inspiration. Today's writers are too incestuous with regard to their references which then makes everything generic and stale.
Yeah, "writing what you know" only guarantees the output is not gonna be as bad as if it would be if you dared write about shit you don't even know anything about. But it is still no fool proof way to know you are gonna write anything interesting. You gotta know stuff in the first place. Many "millenial writers" are desperate to "change teh world" yet they have so little life experience and literary repertoire they have absolutely nothing to say that isn't a tired cliche. You missed an opportunity to talk about those in Pokemon Inc hiring the consultant company GaymerX to change the already existing character models of Pokémon Go. Seeing how the characters look before the consultant company is night and day, they were too deformed to be changed back to the way they looked before without an update reverting back.

So creating a character which looks like... well, greek god makes sense. In Gears of War almost every character is built like a fridge and design is inspired by those 80's-90's action movies with Schwarzenegger and Stallone. Meanwhile you have Abby in Last of Us 2 set in post-apocaliptic world, where people barely scraping by and she looks like a roided Mike Tyson in drag...

You remember, when Trump got in in 2016, there was a faction of cringy people unironically comparing themselves to "Dumbledore's Army"? I beleive that we are suffering under something I like to call 'leased mythology'. When you look at ancient civilizations like Greece, Rome, Mongola, Japan, you have a pelthora of origin stories about the people and society. You have archetypes and people who you look up to and (in a physical and mental sense), want to emulate, like Achilles, Romulus, etc. By participating in the respected institutions of said societies, you could, in some part, effectively 'live out' the life, and emulate those icons of ancient mythos.
Since the end of WWII, I would say that we no longer have organic myths and fairy tales. All our 'larger than life' heroes have been commerialized, be it Link, Master Chief, whatever or whoever. Hell, even WWII itself has been utterly commercialized and mystified, becoming a saturday-morning caricature of what actually happened.
I posit that because today's fictional protagonists partake in things that are so utterly fantastical, it destroys a person's sense of scale and how change is made.
For one, your understanding of how world change is made is ballooned by having a culture of characters that "Literally do everything". From the New Vegas courier to Captain America, only half a dozen people matter, and the rest of the world just sits on pause and do literally nothing.
Second, a person's sense of scale is destroyed, because these stories make things like wars finish in a matter of days, rather than years. Tying back to point one, the entire thing seems to be done by only a few dozen people, if even that many.
This ultimately explains why people are so obsessed with ousting people at the top of proverbial "political food chain", because they think, as per their entertainment, that cutting the head off the snake is the only way to solve everything. Literally all our "mythology" does this, so why shouldn't we be able to?
Ultimately, when the average person realized they cannot do this, they get depressed and grow psychotic. Further, they ignore that change starts small and begins at the local level. Sure, federal politics in the US affect me, but if I live in Kansas, I can only change the politics of Kansas, and should focus my efforts there. I cannot change the politics of Idaho or Vermont.

Here's the thing about the whole "diversity" stuff. Gaming was always a diverse medium. Even before the activists came. It had characters of all different walks of life. Nobody needed to self insert themselves into everything. But the activists who subverted gaming cannot see this. He’s 15 now and recently has been taking a lot of commissions for drawing furry art, and his once beautiful art Has turned into these weird offputting anthropomorphic creatures. His artist is becoming more sexual as the people are pushing for him to draw more sexual stuff and his parents are having a hard time because he keeps saying it’s normal in the community
Before you judge, They make crazy good money. He is easily making 50-100 a commission, which is really good money for a 15 year old. A lot of furry artists admit that they themselves are not furries, and they find the whole thing nasty, but it pays REALLY good for a side hustle.

No, I want anime games to exist.
Theres an idea which emerged from the Frankfurt School but has been taught at CalArts (a school which many prominent modern artists working in media are alums) created by the likes of Theodor Adorno and Herbert Marcuse. This idea postulates that beauty propagates an evil, heirachical, capitalistic standard and should be destroyed. Art should instead be ugly, abstract, and not representative of real groups barring the marginalized. This art is hostile and ugly on purpose because there is an underlying political philosophy which sees beauty as an inherently evil concept, which is a belief I think many of these CalArts milennials follow into their workplaces. They don't just wish to design characters ugly for the sake of diversity, they actively abhor anything with any sense of traditional beauty standards including as basic as color theory.

As for female bodybuilders, I’m by no means an expert, but I’m almost certain they have to take TONS of supplements, including anabolic steroids in a lot of cases (testosterone boosters). It’s not just diet related, women literally need to take supplements, and in most cases do serious damage to their bodies in order to build the type of physique Abby has. It’s not natural. That’s not an ‘attack’ on female bodybuilders, I respect the grind and it’s extremely impressive how massive some women are, but it simply is not possible to do naturally, and that’s a fact. So unless Abby found a stockpile of anabolic steroids and tons of protein to eat every day, it’s a fantasy character in an otherwise extremely grounded world. I’d get called a misogynist by a lot of people for pointing that out, they’ll say I’m just making excuses to hate her because I find her unattractive, which I don’t even know how to reply to. She is unattractive, but I wouldn’t be complaining if that was my only gripe, I guess I’m just not allowed to want stories to make logical sense? I HAVE to just be some dude bro who needs anime titties in every game? It’s not even worth arguing with ‘the other side’ when they are this disingenuous.
Bodybuilders are juiced up to the eyeballs. The stuff they take is crazy and it's not just the guys doing it. It's completely unrealistic to have a female character with Abby's build in TLoU2, just like it would be completely unrealistic to have a guy built like Arnie in his prime because they couldn't get the drugs and there's no way they could get enough calories and protein to build or maintain that kind of body. Having some muscles wouldn't be unrealistic if the character was slim/skinny but of course that wouldn't fit with their agenda - doing it like that would result in Abby looking like a normal athletic girl.
Yup. It's physically impossible for an actual woman to get that jacked naturally. They simply cannot build the muscle mass without chemical assistance.
That's the thing, when you have body builders in Mad Max, that is not a issue because Mad Max is all about the extravaganza of a apocalyptic world, it's not supposed to be "realistic". Last of Us, as a blatant copy of The Road mixed with Children of Men, it tries to be as "realistic" and "crude" as possible, to shock and entice the audience (just like The Road). However, at the moment you introduce a body builder in this "realistic" apocalypse, it can be male or female, the "realism" crumbles right there. How the hell Abby had access to 15k calories a day, steroids and supplements in the apocalypse? As you said, women needs even more "juice" to sustain a body builder physique and it's way more nastier to their health if compared to men (both scenarios are noxious, but women suffers a lot with abusive use of steroids), that only makes the Abby situation even more ridiculous. She is a fantasy character lost in a "crude" and "realistic" apocalypse. Joel and Ellie are no different, they have superhuman senses, can recover like Wolverine, etc.. a teenage girl killing apocalypse survivors like a ninja? At least justify their background, but nope, all you need to do is to check the Oscar bait boxes: be melodramatic, a caricature of suffering (just like Phoenix playing Joker), misery porn, etc.. here it comes the "awards" and praise from the average joe who have no idea who is Cormac McCarthy

Osamu Tezuka, the man who created Astro Boy and spearheaded the manga industry back in post-war Japan, was basically a proto-furry even down to having curvy busty animal ladies in some of his works and even being into sexualized transformation sequences. So yeah, this stuff has been around WAY longer the modern furry fandom has, regardless of how one might feel about it.

I've said it once I'll say it again: as much as I love Baldur's Gate III, it's a game that is proof that so long as you toe the line on progressive politics you won't be cancelled. It has overly beautiful characters, hyper sexualization of everything, the option to be ridiculously murder hobo evil. Any of these from a Japanese developer would be instant protest fuel. But they made sure to have gay characters and VAs, intimacy coordinators, and have all good-aligned decisions be progressive-aligned (for example: its never asked what will happen if a tiefling refugee is a murderer, aligning with their youth hoods committing thievery is considered good by all good-aligned companions. Baldur's gate is based and progressive and it makes chuds seethe
baldurs gate 3 was made by many different people over the years. Everyone agrees the first act is awesome the second is ok and the last feels like it wasnt made by the same people, most of the woke stuff was at the later parts of the game and were added late in development. After that the devs absolutely had it with wizards of the coast and stopped working on the game.

On the topic of "write what you know" this is literally starfield, did they hire some sci fi writer to write the 200 million budget game? No, they used the same clown who watched too many marvel movies and made it about a multiverse and the factions are literally space california, space texas and cyberpunk oil rig. Because they told them "write what you know" so they knew california existed, and texas and they played cyberpunk and they wrote that. They didnt know how to write sci fi or make quests with choices so most quests in the game are stuff like "kill that many space wolves" or "bring me back my gay ex's ring" or "match this black dude with this irish gingner woman" these quests are 2 minutes long, they have no choices, they are not exciting and they feel like they were made by a middle aged woman who discovered the creation kit for bethesda games.
Finally while its true that they are indie woke games that are not cringe, there are also things that dont make sense, eg pacific drive has podcasts but the game takes place in the 90s, so no ipods back then. Also most of the car customization is 35 freaking pride flags and a blm sticker, again modern stuff that did not exist back then and dont make sense in the game, but they are woke hipsters so they have to put that stuff in there. Sure corporations are paid to be woke by black rock but just like the crayon cal arts tumblr style that made tons of cartoons and raised zoomers to be queer or psx and ps2 kid games with anthropomorphic animals turned millennials into furries, there is a point to the woke plastering and pandering of absolutely every franchise in existence. The goal is to make it seem normal and natural so this art ends up influencing people and this is how you get indie woke devs putting blm stickers and 35 pride flags in a station wagon in a game taking place in the 90s. For example need for speed underground 2 had ton of car customization and hundreds of vynls, they didnt make that feature so you can put only put pride flags and blm stickers in your car.
