Hi Simon, when a pike picks up the bait and the line/braid clips out of the drop off indicator the tension is released the ledger stem will pop back up to allow the line to flow with next to no resistance.

@@308sir None mate, use it with a baitrunner reel or set the drag on a regular reel way low, then use a bite alarm and bobin.
Could you use a float but just put a float stop at before the ledger?

I was using this a few days ago, but the bait keeps going out on the surface while the mainline is lose...
And when you tighten down to your lead the stem lays almost flat making it completely pointless.
