Thanks for posting this. I spent about a half hour on the phone with my dealer with a tech trying to figure it out. I spent about an hour this morning searching and searching with no success. Decided to google and found your video and it took me a bit longer but found them. I did remove the panel on the left dash with the vent in it. Helped me see it a bit easier. I have a bad back and am tall so I have a hard time getting under the dash. I am pretty pissed at Ford for having such short wires...impossible to work on. Under the hood was not much better. You would think for a 60K truck they could have put in another two inches or so.
I agree. I was really pissed off that they had a great option with the upfitter switches only to sour the deal by making the hookup wires nearly impossible to access.
This is the first video on these upfitter wires that has helped me. I spent half a day chasing and testing wires under the hood, to no avail. All while watching other videos that showed the pass through wires as having direct power from the switches. Thank you. Maybe some trucks are different than your 2014 and my 2011.
This is possibly the most immediately helpful video I've seen on any subject! And I do a LOT of UA-cam! You saved me a ton of grief!! The 22 people who thumbs downed are probably working on Jaguars.
Man, FINALLY found a video that explains the upfitter wiring! All the others were ambiguous and not as detailed, Plus you found the BBLB files and the link! Thanks a ton! I just bought 2 each 24" two-row LED bars to install in the grille and the info you provided has been helpful! Can't wait to dig into this project!
That was a very good explanation. It answered all my questions. I saw a couple of other videos but they left me with questions. Yours answered them. Thanks man!
Thank you sir for your video. Would have never found the pass through wires without it. I had the fender well cover off looking for them within the main wire loom.
I’ve watched a few videos about the upfitter switches and yours is the best one yet. The one thing that NONE of these videos addresses is whether or not these circuits are protected by a fuse inside the vehicle or does the upfitter need to protect them after they go through the firewall. I’m going to check it out myself but I’d sure like to get that diagram you have, either directly from you or maybe you’ll tell me where on the web I can find. Thanks for any response.
Frist I cannot thank you enough for making this video...yes Ford engineers and accountants should be shot for making these so hard to find and connect...for an extra $5 they could have added 6" of wire to each of these upfitter extensions and made our lives so much easier! Again, thanks for this video...I was able to find them and first thing I did was add extensions to each of them!
Very informative video with excellent tutorial. Although I'm a bit apprehensive about wiring in additional accessories, primarily because one of the other videos that popped up upon me viewing this one was a super duty burning up. However, I'm confident with watching this video and I do have full coverage insurance. Nice truck too. Thanks.
Great vid! Already saw a few before this one but yours specified what i needed to know if i wanted to run an accessory inside the interior and not on the engine side with the upfitter switches. Thanks! Btw, i saw that link you showed on paper on various forums online but once you click on the link it is no longer available unfortunately. Probably someone is trying to make a dime off that info.
Very informative and much appreciated. And you've done enough to help me. I'm not super computer literate, so I could not find the website that you spoke of for Ford. A link would be very nice. Thank you though
Jason McDermott Rigid Industries LEDs are outstanding. How do you like yours? I hear Baja Designs is good too. Here at work we use either Rigid or Ecco.
Really nice job here... Thank you for taking the time to make and share this video.. Are those black ends on the wires "crimp" connectors? Now all I need to find is a video on how to pull that lower dash panel off without breaking something... Shame on Ford for burying these wires so deep in the truck..
I just received my light bar. I am only using the upfitter switches for this install. I have a 2008/F-350. My intent is to use AUX 1, my yellow wire which is in the same location as yours. I will connect the positive wire of the light bar to the yellow upfitter switch and ground the black wire to the truck. The light bar also came with a wiring harness which has an inline fuse and its own relay. I don't plan on using any of these wires. Can you tell me if this is correct?
I can't get my large hands and crimping tool up behind the dash to work on these short leads that got through the firewall. Can you show us how to remove that part of the dash?
So for connecting the upfiter switches i find which wire correspond with what switch then put hot wire for device into switch wire then black just ground it correctly right
I know this vid is 10 years old, but just to confirm, you will connect the Aux cable to one of the cables that go through the firewall and then connect the end of the through firewall cable to what you want to power? Then flip the switch and it should get the 12v?
So you can hook onto the wires in the engine compartment or under the steering wheel and use the uplift switches,,,correct...also anyone know anything about the rear pig tail connectors in the rear frame of a cab and chassis F 450,,,have three different plug in sets of wires,,the company who installed messed everything up,,, Great video,,thanks so much,,how can so many other people not understand what they are doing.
Thank you. . .very, very helpful. Now, if someone could show how to physically connect a wire to the existing pigtail wires it would be really, really helpful.
in order to get the power through the fire wall do you have to make a connection under the dash I looked in the book and watched you're video and ended up connecting under the dash and pulling my own wire through the fire wall because none of the wires under the hood behind the fuse box were hot this would clarify this a lot thanks.
2fast65 there are wires provided for fused power, plus the aux switch outputs, and 4 wires that are dead ended on each side of the fire wall. No need to pull any wires through the fire wall
I actually learned all this because I was installing a light bar into the grill on '12 F350. The Rigid Industry curved with dark lenses looks amazing and is great light bar. 30" fits perfect. In the bed I installed LEDs and put a weatherproof switch into the 5th wheel trailer connector box and used the battery power already in there.
now im a little confuse about the neg wire I mean im mounting a led light bar and it has a red and black wire, I know the red is positive and black is negative so I know im hooking the red to the yellow wire but where does the black negative wire goes?
So if I understand you correctly...if I wish to power a light at in the front of my truck I should run power to one of the 4 wires in the engine bay, go inside the truck and connect that corresponding wire to the switch wire I wish to use?
Brian- I wired an LED light bar this weekend and I did the aforementioned. Works well and made the job much quicker. Just have to pay attention to the wiring you use.
None of the wires you are showing match up with the wires on my 2015 super duty f series diagram, Hard to believe they would different from 2014. I thinking will my leave radios hard wired to batteries with fuses.
Krys George...Sorry I do not know of any panels you can remove to make access to the wires under the dash easier... You may try opening door and taking the side trim panel off where the driver door defrost vent is. It pops off if you pull on it. Also you can go to www.helminc.com and order the DVD shop manuals for your truck. I have them and found them worth the price.
Looked at 25 videos for this info. This is hands down most informative. Thank you.

Some people would pay more than $60k for more than 2”

They are probably the people that spent all day trying to run them through another way... lol
Straight to the point! Very informative and no bs! I like what you did. Thanks for the video
Perfect instructions on finding both the upfitter and the pass through wires. Thanks.
Definitely the best video out there. Thank you
This is the best video describing the wiring of the Upfitter switches. Your video saved me hours and frustration. Thanks!!

I'm looking all over the place for these wires, can't find them, I watch your video and bang! There they are! thanks
That was a very good explanation. It answered all my questions. I saw a couple of other videos but they left me with questions. Yours answered them. Thanks man!

Super helpful video and the location of the diagram was great info too. Thanks for sharing - made my job a lot easier today
of all the videos yours was the most informative and easiest to follow. Thanks bud.
This the video I was looking for all night! Thank You!

Awesome video! Answered all my questions. Thank you, sir!
Extremely helpful!! thank you! My local dealer wanted to charge me $2000 plus parts to install them!!
Great job in explaining exactly where the hell the wires were. Thank you very much!
Frist I cannot thank you enough for making this video...yes Ford engineers and accountants should be shot for making these so hard to find and connect...for an extra $5 they could have added 6" of wire to each of these upfitter extensions and made our lives so much easier! thx for your video just installed rear fog lights on my 2012 f250 and was able to use aux switch 1! very simple thx again
Thank you! Most helpful video I have found!!!
Thanks for concise and easy to understand explanation

Thanks man, best video I have found it was a big help for wiring my transfer pump!
Too bad they make those wires so short under the hood. Great video though, thanks.
Your video was very easy to follow. Others not so much. Thanks for the info.
Very informative and much appreciated. And you've done enough to help me. I'm not super computer literate, so I could not find the website that you spoke of for Ford. A link would be very nice. Thank you though
Thanks this video was the most helpful and informative one ive seen.
Fantastic job! Great help. Clear, concise explanation. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing! I'm about ready to hook up some rigid to my Superduty.
Jason McDermott Rigid Industries LEDs are outstanding. How do you like yours? I hear Baja Designs is good too. Here at work we use either Rigid or Ecco.
nice video, hopefully the wires are in the same spot on my 2011. I remember struggling to find them on my '08.
Huge help! I am wiring my Air Lift airbag compressor to one of my switches.
Where did you mount the compressor?
Thank you for this video. So easy to follow!
Thanks. Your video really helped me out.
Thank you for the video. You made it easy!
Thanks for the link on the layout book. Huge Help!!!
Bro your fucking cool af I just found my wires all other videos were wrong thank you homie
Really nice job here... Thank you for taking the time to make and share this video.. Are those black ends on the wires "crimp" connectors?
Now all I need to find is a video on how to pull that lower dash panel off without breaking something...
Shame on Ford for burying these wires so deep in the truck..
rvandeloo panels are on snap style holders. You can carefully pull it off.
Great video!!!! Lots of detailed Information
Thank you so much helped me and my dad put some light bars on appreciated it
Finally thank you very much
Great video. Much appreciated 👍😎
VERY NICELY DONE!!!
Awesome video!

Richard Conley I use waterproof heat shrink connectors from West Marine.
Hay wear is the wire that go’s over too the up lift switch
Super helpful. Thanks

I appreciate the inclusion of the wiring diagram from the fleet.ford.com website. Great video and Thanks!
Having trouble finding the wires on the engine compartment side. Any information will help. Are they in that bundle that's wrapped with black tape?
Very helpful! Thank you!
I wanna add some led lights in my bed and would like to use the up fitter switches. Maybe a led light bar in the bumper too
I actually learned all this because I was installing a light bar into the grill on '12 F350. The Rigid Industry curved with dark lenses looks amazing and is great light bar. 30" fits perfect. Stupid question. Does it matter what wire you use through the firewall. (Example) Brown uplifter to BLk-Wht firewall wire ?
Good vid!
what about a 24 inch can I hook it up directly to the aux switch?
whats the dummy plug for right above those wires?
perfect thanks!
Any idea if it's same thing on f150?
Can’t find a link how can I get a bb layout for2016? Any advice much appreciated. Love the video
I would look for the same website I mentioned in the video. Ford provides wiring info for custom bed builders.
Were do u put the negative wire?
now im a little confuse about the neg wire I mean im mounting a led light bar and it has a red and black wire, I know the red is positive and black is negative so I know im hooking the red to the yellow wire but where does the black negative wire goes?
Tactical take it to the body or like I did to the negative terminal of the battery on the drivers side.
Hawgwld so like screw the wire to the body of the truck like on the frame? sorry just trying to make sure im doing everything right
So if I understand you correctly...if I wish to power a light at in the front of my truck I should run power to one of the 4 wires in the engine bay, go inside the truck and connect that corresponding wire to the switch wire I wish to use?
I'll be watching for an answer. I have the same question and can't find a straight answer
Brian- I wired an LED light bar this weekend and I did the aforementioned. Works well and made the job much quicker. Just have to pay attention to the wiring you use.
Great, Thanks!
Thank you!
Cheers
I'm going to be using this upfitter switch for an LED light bar. Do I still need a relay or can I just wire them direct? Thanks.
I wired mine directly to the up fitter no relay needed.
Thank you!!!!!
None of the wires you are showing match up with the wires on my 2015 super duty f series diagram, Hard to believe they would different from 2014. I thinking will my leave radios hard wired to batteries with fuses.
Do you still have to run a ground up to the battery?
Yes you will still need to run ground wire. I would use one of the many chassis ground points instead of back to battery.
Am I the only one who feels Ford could have gave us a little more wire to play with?🤔
Wiring the train horn for Phil’s pu.
@2:45 sounds like cleveland from family guy
the switch go's through a 30 amp fuse already
so are the switches a good source of switched 12v power?
Switches go thorough fused circuits. They are not all 30 amp. I do not remember them, but they are different ratings depending on the switch you use.
Yes..they are factory installed for you to use for accessories you install. Yes, they are 12 VDC.
+Hawgwld thank you sir, I just downloaded the 2011 schematic
+Hawgwld 1 & 2 are 30 amp, 3 is 10 amp and 4 is 15 amp
What are the white colors and what do they go to. What a waste of time
