I just do planning sauerkraut from a jar and sausage. But I like the simplicity of this recipe. There's just three or four main ingredients plus seasonings so you can't go wrong.

We had to work in tobacco setting plants. I wanted something ready for dinner, crockpot died. We love Haluski & Pierogis. I took a head of cabbage diced it long ways put on my huge skillet. Sliced up an onion, sliced a few potatoes like you would scallop them, then sliced up a whole Kielbasa. I sprinkled black pepper over all, added a stick of Blue Bonnet butter. Put lid on. Baked 325°. We set the whole field so dinner was ready when we got home it was delicious. I'd say 5 hours it baked. There was no way I would have been able to cook after working in tobacco. I like to try your version when I have more family in. I like your plant. I've never seen a prayer plant 'til now. Thank you for sharing.

That would be good served with rice. I made an Oriental dish that was similar to this (onion, cabbage, Worcestershire sauce, pepper, and canned shrimp) . The canned shrimp was better than fresh or frozen, because the juices added so much to the flavor of the dish. I picked it up from two students from Taiwan, who prepared their own meals in the dorm kitchen, took the ideas home, and prepared it. Maybe it's time to make it again. Hm?

I can appreciate that, we were only made to eat one bite a year. Every year we had black eyed peas, cabbage and cornbread on January 1st to bring in the new year, we had to at least eat one bite for luck and money. Lol. After all that time I've acquired a taste for it

Please let the dog out of the crate. You rescued it and keep it caged. Not happy about that.

Chunky does not stay in the crate, he actually goes to work with me most days and has the run of the office. He also gets to run 40 acres. I'm not going to let him out when we are eating or the cats are loose, sorry.
