Thank you for such a lovely message Janice. It’s my pleasure as I know from my own experiences how difficult and frustrating it can be at times, but at the same time how rewarding it can be when everything falls into place. Wishing you well Warren
Hi Warren (Mike, again!) I love this one too. It's taken me about 50 years to work this tip out - I started to understand it a few months back and just watch for the pros doing it on Sky Golf. (we were taught the wrong way in the 70s!) I really like the split screen / double view, this helps too. Thank you, Mike (I was a PE teacher and 5 handicapper. I really like your kind manner and the way you reinforce the tip in different ways.)

Great video . Didn't know my right elbow has to stay closer to my body to deliver the club and achieve compression. want to send my swing video over for analysis
Hi there, Keeping the right elbow in does many things, including compression, one major thing it does is to keep control of the Club head through impact. If you would like to send in your swing, I’d be more than happy to do a swing an analysis for you, the best way is to send your swing on the Academy Facebook or Instagram page. Thank you so much for sending your comment in, and I appreciate your support of the channel. Kind regards and all the best. Warren

for various reasons started and in depth study of the swing of tge swing 3 yrs ago. our conclusion will change everything and actually works. meaning regardless of skill this is better and extremely easy to repeat.
Great explanation, I compress my irons but tend to hit my wedges high, I believe this technique will really help me to compress them even better. I find it easier to hit lower trajectory irons from 8-4 iron. Definitely need to implement this though. Thanks mate.
Hi I Mick, thanks for the feedback, really appreciate it. It really is mate, getting that club on plane is so important, obviously we can’t feel it whilst in motion so drills like this to train it are a must. Hope it is good for you. Many thanks and kind regards Warren
I am one of these people who has trouble with scooping/flipping/early extension. Even when I hit the ball what feels like perfect, I'm still rarely making a divot and it's going really high, which tells me I'm getting it right at the bottom of the arc, a few grooves low, and losing compression/distance. Also, my misses are almost always thin. I've watched a million videos that all tell me the same thing, yet so far nothing has clicked to get my brain to tell my muscles to do what I want. After watching this one I went out in the back yard and did some swings without a ball, and it feels great. For some reason I am optimistic that this is the finally "the one." I can't wait to take this to the range and see what happens.
Hi Jeff, Thank you so much for letting me know your situation and leaving feedback. I really hope it goes ok for you and please let me know how it goes. Many thanks and kind regards Warren
Without a doubt the best golf tip out there. I was amazed at the results. 80-90% great shots the last time on the range. Question, it seems that 10% of the time I would top it or hit above the equator, what could be causing that? Thanks.
@@warrenbennettgolfacademy ok. You might be right. I just took notes on your video about getting the right shoulder down during swing. I’ll try it. Thanks again.
Warren, When I do this rotate club down and left it seems to close my club face to much. You think I should weaken grip or not rotate down and left to fast? This really seems to happen with 3 wood and driver.. Brilliant video...
This may have been one of the best drill videos that I have ever seen! Many, many thanks! I have struggled forever from hitting from the top or trying to hit the ball, and I seldom allowed my arms to drop from the top to the hip high level. Probably the best thing that you said was "matching the club head to your rotation gives you the control", that I have been lacking! I will start doing this drill over and over to get that feeling grooved. Once again, I cannot thank you enough for this video! Genius!
Apart from setup, grip etc hopefully this is the holy grail of the golf swing for all of us flippers to eventually become compressors of the golf ball. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Warren, you should have 866k followers! Your videos are brilliant! I was instructed to swing out to right field to eliminate my over the top move. Now thanks to you I see that the hands stay in while the clubhead goes out to the ball! Thank you!

Warren - others have already used the word brilliant - so all I ca mention is that it is a better/(more practical) explanation and use of the old split hand drills! Love it - especially the ability to practice, stop, check then hit!!!
Superb explanation of hand and club path. I’ve seen Bradley Hughes explain this as the 4.30 or water skiier drill ie as hands ( and grip butt ) go left the club fires out and down to the ball. Your explanation and camera angles are very clear and unlocks what seems quite counter intuitive. Having the hands way out towards ball line by right hip then essentially going in and down is a move rarely discussed but really puts pressure on the shaft through the strike. Edit: just back from range… totally sorted ball start line ( which was always a bit flippy left) and somehow fixed early extension (moving buttocks towards ball line has been a fault for decades !). Fantastic feeling of going hard left and seeing ball firing down target line with very little shape. Thank you.
Hi Mike, I know Bradley and we do share a very similar teaching philosophy and what you say is true, it does put pressure on the shaft whilst keeping control of the clubface. I hope your improvements are still continuing and you achieve consistency with it. Thank you for sharing. Regards Warren

Warren, So this is a great drill promoting a “body type” release…as opposed to the roll release promoted elsewhere on some of your videos? Not sure which route to go🤔
I'm sure you are a very respectable teacher of the golf swing and have helped numerous golfers with their game. A comment on this "technique": It seems to me, when watching videos of pro's iron swings, from the top of the back swing, their hands do move almost straight down at the start, not toward the ball. The difference seems to be they do not let their right hip move toward the ball but toward the target, as their left hip moves backward away from the ball. This move clears the body out of the way and lets their right elbow come down in front of their body. I believe most amateurs do not clear the body out of the way and would in fact cause the right elbow to get stuck behind them, better known as "early extension." Cheers!
Hi Warren think this is my fault, the right elbow works back behing my body and i early extend and get stuck, would you look at my swing to see if i need this drill and then to see if im doing it correctly. Thanks

At 7.03 as an example, your left wrist, shows as slightly cupped. This is where most hobby players becomes confused, as a lot of others state it should be flatter or slightly bowed. I swear you pros keep us guessing so we go to have lessons. But good stuff anyway.
As a plus handicap, I feel I've just discovered the secret to golf. Similar to this instruction, the key is to swining AROUND the body, not down and/or out away.

A Great addition to the pete Cowan standard teaching method...Explained and illustrated very well..Why dont anybodt stress the absolute vital importance of the turn or in your words pivot at the end ? This is what Squares the club face?
The only way to get better at golf is to stop watching UA-cam videos and go and get a lesson from a pro. And then practice
Hi Ned,
You are right. I actually did a video saying this, stating be very careful watching videos and take a lesson with a pro.
I love doing them and hopefully my videos I try and explain it in a way that it can’t do any harm even if you give it a go, but I agree with you.
Many thanks for the message.
Warren
I have had lessons from different pro's and I have learnt far more from watching this man, on here. Many of the Pro's in Lincolnshire are chancer's, quite happy to waste clients time and money - as I discovered !
Not true. Use live view and practice drills and 1/4,1/2 swings until you ingrained the correct feels.
I presume you watched this video tho…. 😀
@@mikebarnard2689 No, maybe 20 seconds. I have stopped watching. Waste of time.
