I know this is a 5 year old comment, but this isn't even in the top 10 Incubus songs, let alone the greatest song of all time. I hope you listen to more music now.
Conocí a esta banda a finales de los 90 en Venezuela, estudiaba en la Universidad y la recuerdo con amor, esta melodia de la decada 2010 me hace volar a mi pasado❤
Does anyone else just love how their newer songs have more and more badass guitar riffs? A lot of their older songs didn't have that. And Brandon's voice is as ethereral as always. :) Love it!
"Over the course of their career, Incubus has utilized elements from a variety of genres and styles, including alternative rock, heavy metal, electro, funk, funk metal, jazz, hip hop nu metal, rap metal, techno and trip hop. With many critics praising the band's ambition, it has also made them difficult to correctly classify." This is just a new style that they have taken over and completely made their own. I have not heard one song from Incubus that I have not absolutely loved.
Brandon's voice is the current that runs through all of the band's music, from the old Incubus to the new, and they are constantly evolving, like a living organism... My favorite band of all time because of that.
People who compare albums that are 5+ years old need to take something into consideration: No musician can rewrite a feeling or person who you were back then. What used to be inspirational or groundbreaking to you might not mean the same thing to the next guy. So stop comparing them before you actually feel the music, you know? It's not all about difficult riffs and difficult-to-comprehend lyrics; it's about letting yourself go and actually feeling your natural reaction to their creation.
I used to listen so much this song when I was an adolescent hehehe now, close to 25 (birthday is some days ahead) I just remembered it for some reason and had to hear it again...
This band is always growing and they will never stop. They make very smart music and they make it look like it's too much fun. These guys are the reason why there are SOME groups coming out with decent stuff........IF NOT THEM, WHO?
The sentiment I have when listening to this childhood classic makes me realize that I am indeed, growing up and indeed, I am no longer a child anymore. I'm almost 16 this year. My childhood is whisking away. I'm upset about that honestly...
incubus has changed their sound up in almost every cd. Its the steady change that makes them what they are. The fact that theyre good in every style they try out is whats admirable.
Our first single, 'Adolescents' is perhaps the most familiar sounding Incubus song on this new album. It begins with Michael's unmistakable and inimitable guitar work and rolls it's way into a kind of drunken waltz. Creeping it's way into the idea that we are collectively just about to reach our cultural teenage years. It does seems like we've been around forever.
I'm so happy they're back! I love all of Incubus' stuff, though I understand the fans who wish they were still heavier. I like seeing them change and write different kinds of music. Come back to Phillyyyyy!
when i was 12 my dad brought home a cd which someone had left at his work. it was morning view. i listened to the first song and never looked back. over 6 years later and i love them more than ever. they never fail to amaze me, each member is so talented and together they create the most incredible music. they have experimented with so many sounds/styles and have proved themselves to be nothing short of brilliant. so so glad that they are back :) :) :)
I definitely ENJOYING INCUBUS. My ears needed to get cleaned out again from all the crap that has been mass produced lately. Thank you I'm alive again!
I realize that this song brings forth a new sound to Incubus, but it DOES sound like something they would sing. I have been a committed fan of theirs for many years and I will tell you this: Incubus is unique in a way that with these changes, they do stay true to what makes their music represent them. This truly sounds like a composite piece of many of their albums put into one song and it flows so well together, as it usually does, so I don't see any errors within it.
This album is going to fucking ROCK! Incubus is the kind of band no one dislikes, all respect, and many LOVE. I fall into the latter. I love Incubus, they get better and better every time I listen to them. Even after 5 years.
I've been waiting so long for new Incubus. So happy with it. If you don't like this song then screw. Let us who do like it enjoy it. Even though we're going to anyway.
Every time i hear this song come on the radio, i find myself reaching for the volume knob, no matter where i am! Such a great and catchy song, and its addictive lol! ! Incubus has never disappointed!
Incubus can do no wrong by me. There are no words to describe how I feel when I hear a new Incubus song. I feel like a kid on Christmas. Total euphoria.
I just can't wait to hear the rest of this album! Incubus fuckin rocks! I go see them every time they visit my venue and they are always a new and awesome experience. Simply flawless! Always been a die hard fan. Enjoy all of their music, they have something for any mood. Keep supporting them, they live for their fans!
Love love love the intro to this song. I think my local radio DJ said it best when she said that it starts really really awesome, super catchy intro guitar part and vocals. It just feels like it could REALLY build into something waaaay bigger and crazy fun arena rocking song. Like after the chorus, it should have dropped down way lower, then when the verse ends the followup chorus just bombs out and DESTROYS! That would have made this an epic song. Good on it's own...was really hoping for ballsy
Brandon and the boys got me through through 8th grade back in '06 - the very first album I got of Incubus' was "Morning View" followed shortly by "A Crow left of the Murder..." which is unquestionably their best work to date and one of the best albums of that decade. Musically and lyrically their work - has to progress and evolve!!! I still think their best work is ahead of them.
It's curious what reactions this song has stirred. Some people hate what Incubus has become, others love it. Be as it may be, they are still the same very talented band that have convinced me with every album that they are in a continuous musical evolution. This particular song is filled emotion, I enjoy every single bit of it. I think that they're doing a wonderful job and I personally would not like them as much if their musical career was a never ending "Make yourself" album.
this is exactly what I was going to say. It isn't that this song is bad because it isn't. I'm just hoping that they still bring the amazing lyrics that we've all become accustomed too over the years.
i heard that this album was supposed to be vastly different but judging by this song which still kicks ass its sounds pretty standard incubus hope they surprise us with the rest of the album
it sounds like this music was made after the smoke subsided from their album. a little more chilled version, fantastic composition! alas, incubus lives yet again!
I imagine this song being played by the band atop a mountain as the world crashes down around them. It'd make a great music video and would really send a message. I like their new direction, they seem to be getting more mature as they progress. It's more close your eyes and lose yourself in the moment music than angry, in-your-face rock music. Big hopes for the new album.
"The voice of the artist is the unconscious voice of the masses. Music and light are the guiding light that will change the world."
-incubus.
classic Incubus! I love how Incubus isn't afraid to change their style a bit, yet still incorporate the same dynamics that worked from the beginning.
This is newer incubus and they do try to change the style of rock every albim
i cant stop smilingggggggggggg and very excitedddddddd
I think this is one of the best rock songs ever, it sound refined to my ears.
YOU CAN SAY THAT AGAIN
I know this is a 5 year old comment, but this isn't even in the top 10 Incubus songs, let alone the greatest song of all time. I hope you listen to more music now.
Agree
@@TheBig451 I know this is a 3 year old reply, but music is subjective, and gatekeeping is lame af
The bass adds so much during the verses
Does anyone else just love how their newer songs have more and more badass guitar riffs? A lot of their older songs didn't have that.
And Brandon's voice is as ethereral as always. :)
Love it!
The drums sound absolutely fantastic.
Yeah they do 😂
0:42 When that part hits, you know the song just keeps on getting better, and better.
I very rarely will play a song over and over again continuously several times.
But i am doing so for this song.
It's so amazing!
killed the replay button already! perfect! i missed you Incubus!
Dude the background noise during the chorus is so addicting

One of the few songs to ever make me cry tears of joy. Tranquility.
Nice 😎
I used to listen so much this song when I was an adolescent hehehe now, close to 25 (birthday is some days ahead) I just remembered it for some reason and had to hear it again...

This band is always growing and they will never stop. They make very smart music and they make it look like it's too much fun. These guys are the reason why there are SOME groups coming out with decent stuff........IF NOT THEM, WHO?

Incubus is amazing once again, surprise surprise.
The sentiment I have when listening to this childhood classic makes me realize that I am indeed, growing up and indeed, I am no longer a child anymore. I'm almost 16 this year. My childhood is whisking away. I'm upset about that honestly...
still listening to this in 2022

I think this is a classic Incubus song. They're always pleasing to my ears.
I'm so happy they're back! I love all of Incubus' stuff, though I understand the fans who wish they were still heavier. I like seeing them change and write different kinds of music. Come back to Phillyyyyy!
Boyd got sum serious chops on this song.....much better singing than on other albums
This song reminds me of "Wish You Were Here." Can't wait for the new album!

The rest of this album has got to be awesome because don't forget, they still have Chris Kilmore, who adds another interesting sound to their music.
I imagine this song being played by the band atop a mountain as the world crashes down around them. It'd make a great music video and would really send a message.
