My husband and I were listening to XXIII while we were chasing down the aurora borealis a few nights back. We had just found a great, quiet spot to view it from when Aqueous Transmission. It was so perfect.
Ugh, I can imagine when he was composing this song. There is a certain love that you feel while making music. I don't know if it's a love for the music or the process. Nonetheless, the more love, the better the song.
Yes!!! Me too!! I was fortunate to see them play a super small venue at Atlantis down in the Bahamas. Had tickets to see them here in SLC a few days later. They had footage from that trip to Atlantis on the big screen at the concert in SLC. This was the last song they played. I all had a spiritual moment and cried and such and ended up getting a tattoo later of the fish from Morning View and kanji that says "to float" and "river."
Yea I have to say, I do agree. This is honestly the best song I have ever heard. A real treasure that we can all enjoy. I think I have shared this with all of my loved ones mostly.
Got this song from my best friend.. i love her more than anything in this world im maad inlove and it sucks. She loves me too but not in the same way and this song reminds me so much about her..
This is legit my favourite song ever, reminds me so much of japan. When I travelled to Japan and had severe anxiety problems I would play this and just awe at the landscape, it calmed me so much and just brought me back to normality really. Before I die I have to see incubus perform this song!
Been In love with Brandon since I was 15. Im now almost 35. Still in love with him 😍🌹🥺 His voice has been with me for my first heartbreak , my adolescence, my depression, my anxiety, the birth of my children and Aqueous Transmission is the song I want at my funeral, so his voice will be with me then 😊🥰 This song 😍
I'm floating down a river Oars freed from their homes long ago Lying face up on the floor Of my vessel I marvel at the stars And feel my heart overflow Further down the river Further down the river Further down the river Further down the river Two weeks without my lover I'm in this boat alone Floating down a river named emotion Will I make it back to shore? Or drift into the unknown Further down the river Further down the river Further down the river Further down the river I'm building an antenna Transmissions will be sent When I am through Maybe we can meet again Further down the river And share what we both discovered Then revel in the view Further down the river Further down the river Further down the river Further down the river I'm floating down a river I'm floating down a river I'm floating down a river I'm floating down a river I'm floating down a river I'm floating down a river I'm floating down a river I'm floating down a river
There is something to be said about a work of music that can just bring so many people peaceful feelings. To where we can all feel solace , no matter the tragedy we apply to the feeling.
This is the special part of incubus..all of them have the same chemistry.. i wish all their will make an epic comeback... do support incubus guy. Don't care tik tok or what ever this day.
My moms got me into Incubus. This song is one of their favorites and became mine too. It wasn’t until collage when I was having relationship issues and I listened to this song that I understood what it meant. Things didn’t work out but I still remember listening to this on repeat one night, knowing that whatever happened with us, it would be for the best.
This song has gotten me through so much. I really want to thank you guys for making this song. When I'm having a hard time, this song calms me down.....
I still wonder and everytime, how they did write, composed this work of music. Beyond its beauty. A poetry for the opened ears and minds. I think in this case the heart has its reasons, of which reason can understand 😜. I'd like to float all the way down to the river right now. Let yourself drift through. Also like a lullaby at night. Brandon is like a storyteller when he sings it. The sound of the pipa is entracing and completely mesmerizing. Wow! In a previous life, they might already have been exceptional musicians.
ua-cam.com/video/0_yoOU87Pqs/v-deo.html Mikey talks about how he was gifted that pipa (the Chinese guitar you see him playing) by Steve Vai as long as he "promises to write something cool with it". He says they pretty much immediately got to work on this song, even pulling an all-nighter. It's unclear whether it was written that same night, but I like to think that it was.
they were big into psychedelics once upon a time, so yanno that helps. side note: i saw mastodon play live at Bonnaroo in 2014 round the time of Oblivions release and the album following that release, and they literally said as soon they took the stage, weve been eating a lot of shrooms and acid lately so that why this new stuff sounds so weird. and as someone who has tripped heavily many times, and someone who plays music, I can def see how the connection with psychedelics and writing music can go hand in hand. when I hear this song I think of peacefully tripping lol, in fact almost everytime I've ever tripped I have listened to Incubus specifically and probably always will should the opportunity ever present itself again lol. I've jokingly said many times if everyone in the world could trip at least once in their life, things would be a lot better in the world lol. cheers dudes
@@mrhamburgler480 Me too brother! I may be 62 now but I'm not ashamed of my psychonaut experiences and there have been many. Strawberry Mesc, shrooms, Orange barrel, Yellow barrel, stamps of all kinds of cartoons with my favorite being Fantasia Mickey Mouse. Always appreciated music and mother nature to the fullest under the influence. I almost wonder if you can truly experience with such joy all the beauty that is out there if you won't try a psychedelic at least once. I can't imagine Dark Side of the Moon or I, Robot without the necessary ingredient that lets me appreciate all the facets of the music.
It helped me lose my best friend and sister. Maybe well meet again further down the river. Share what we bithe discovered and revel in the view. This was our fav song
Incubus your music 🎶 those songs 🎵 are the best 👌 the lyrics drums bass guitar 🎸 very calm and afterwards the big melodies that is true energy 🙌 into the music 🎶
My wife and late father in law walked towards me, down the aisle on a beach to this song. A prefect song for such a happy, yet also sad memory for her. Truly, the song of a lifetime!
In Greek mythology, Charon or Kharon(/ˈkɛərɒn, -ən/; Greek Χάρων) is the ferryman of Hades who carries souls of the newly deceased across the rivers Styx and Acheronthat divided the world of the living from the world of the dead. A coin to pay Charon for passage, usually an obolus or danake, was sometimes placed in or on the mouth of a dead person.[1] Some authors say that those who could not pay the fee, or those whose bodies were left unburied, had to wander the shores for one hundred years. In the catabasis mytheme, heroes - such as Aeneas, Dionysus, Heracles, Hermes, Odysseus, Orpheus, Pirithous, Psyche, Theseus and Sisyphus - journey to the underworld and return, still alive, conveyed by the boat of Charon.
Does anyone know where the longer version of this video went? it had more instrumental at the end but I'm pretty sure it was this same performance. Such a pretty song. Thanks,
This song has so much meaning from awesome Memories of my 2 buddies and I who were inseparable back after High school. We’d get together EVERY morning for years Put this song on and have the Most chill Morning Sessions ever! Back then the vibes were chill, the world was a lot more Chill and the Weed was so soothing and loving just like this song. We would Puff for almost a solid hour leaving this song on repeat until we all were nicely baked and ready to take on the Day! Much Life Incubus for creating this awesomeMelody for the world to enjoy 🙌🏻😉

Hi
Same here brother , don’t worry they are overrated and society / online dating has messed us all up.
Do you have a girlfriend yet?
Why you gotta call me out like that?
😂🤣😭💀
This song makes me feel so at peace and makes me feel fortunate to being alive.
I agree it always renews my soul and takes me on a journey. The feeling is amazing. My body shuts down and I'm at peace.
This song is what my soul needs in these crazy times
every single time since I was 13

I have that tattoo as well. No saying though. Crazy.
Turtles all the way down
Yea I have to say, I do agree. This is honestly the best song I have ever heard. A real treasure that we can all enjoy. I think I have shared this with all of my loved ones mostly.
This song demonstrates just how versatile this band is.
This will never be not beautiful. This song can calm the worst of heart ache.
Sunny Bunn ; that's exactly what I decided to play this song for today.
wtf whereami Well best of love to you man, peace.
Sunny Bunn ; thank you

Saw incubus and deftones a little while back at pnc. Amazing experience.
They played it tonight at Jones Beach in NY. Ended the show with it... it was lovely. Hope you get to experience it live.
maybe the best concert ive been to yet!!
Did you manage to do it?
Pipa (琵琶) is a Chinese instrument. Interesting it reminds you of Japan.
That voice does things to me.
I want this as my funeral song too lol it really speaks on the journey of life
Those few ending vocals felt so free
That instrument was a gift from Steve Vai.
Omar CL it’s a very high end custom pipa!
and now it's a gift to all of our ears.
That's how I know you're a real fan 😎
That’s so crazy considering they had that connection especially how they popped up on the Halo 2 soundtrack
whats the instrument called?
This song does something to my soul
Mike is so talented with any string instrument. When i first heard this song, it reminded me of the feeling I got when I read Stolen Boat as a kid.
I'm floating down a river
Oars freed from their homes long ago
Lying face up on the floor
Of my vessel
I marvel at the stars
And feel my heart overflow
Further down the river
Further down the river
Further down the river
Further down the river
Two weeks without my lover
I'm in this boat alone
Floating down a river named emotion
Will I make it back to shore?
Or drift into the unknown
Further down the river
Further down the river
Further down the river
Further down the river
I'm building an antenna
Transmissions will be sent
When I am through
Maybe we can meet again
Further down the river
And share what we both discovered
Then revel in the view
Further down the river
Further down the river
Further down the river
Further down the river
I'm floating down a river
I'm floating down a river
I'm floating down a river
I'm floating down a river
I'm floating down a river
I'm floating down a river
I'm floating down a river
I'm floating down a river
4:07-4:33 !!!!!!! Favorite vocal arrangement probably ever in life
Some bands can just kill it live and these dudes do note for note

I play this every night before I go to sleep. It keeps the nightmares away
I remember seeing them closing with this. Everyone walked off one by one till it was just einzeger at end. It was fucking perfect
I wish they wouldn't have cut it off at the instrumental/crickets and frogs, that's the best part
"I marvel at the stars and feel my heart overflow" 🌌✨️❤

I love the pipa.
Oh I wana learn to play this so bad. I think Mike Einziger plays it on a Chinese pipa lute. Absolutely beautiful riff, and song.
very peaceful and calming ! i had an imagination of tibetan singing bowl , zen cats and chinese man playing pipa in garden ! haha!
I love this! So beautiful! It makes me cry and dance and twirl at the same time.
On repeat every time
His voice makes me beating my heart....
Love this song, so tranquil and peaceful 💕 One of my favorites.
