Towards the end the orange player should have put the robber on the ore with the number 4 on it so that the blue player couldn’t have access to ore. Everyone knew he was at 8 points already and had a vp in hand. No reason to put it on the 8 when the blue guy was already close.
Next time please don't use white for the sake of the video views hip. I can't see it.
honestly, I did not even realize it's four players until several minutes into the game.

The clear or white, needs to change. Perhaps green. However, I know colour blind people.cant see it either, possibly purple maybe black.

All of the starting roads apart from orange were awful in this game. These guys are not very strong pleyers imo
Red made the right move by moving the robber to the wood 6 (to prevent orange from getting the longest road on a 6 roll) at the end of the game, but should have stolen from blue and not orange.
I just stumbled upon this and would have chosen exactly the same first settlement spots as the white player.
So now I am eager to watch how the game plays out (vor him)

Orange gave this game away on several occasions. First was at 30:30 when he opted for a settlement as opposed to being more aggressive for the longest road. As we would see, his passivity invited blue to get creative later in the game preventing both red and orange from their original longest road strategies. But the biggest error orange made was buying the city around the one hour mark. If you watch the dice rolls before his turn, he could have easily built roads to the 5 sheep in the top right corner, and possibly even settled, which would have taken longest road from blue (being he was so close to winning) and would have laid a good defense from red stealing back later. This isn't even mentioning the fact that on his final turn he didn't hit blue with the robber... tisk tisk :(
yes, orange and red played too passive. blue had no economy whatsoever and manged to win only beacause of that. well played to blue, though
I played Catan just today I won because of my long road

Audio is not synced up with the video. It's off by more than 50 seconds. Red places the robber on the 5 at 48:57, but the commentators don't announce that move until 49:52. Maybeeeee check that before uploading the video? Just a thought.
They mentioned in the video that what they are seeing is delayed. They cant commentate within the vicinity of the table, so they are watching video of it which is delayed. What you mentioned was just one example, this was happening throughout the entire game..

@@joi1794 So because the random _example_ I cited was at the 50-minute mark, to you, that means that's when I first noticed it? Not too bright there, Sherlock.
Here's an idea for you 2 rocket scientists: they could've taken the audio from the delayed commentary, then before posting to UA-cam, backed it up 50 seconds so that it synced up with the visuals. It isn't brain surgery.

Only just started watching, but surprised at set up. Red and black really should have pointed to coast, because inevitably they got cut off by further starting placements.

Being the orange I would have put my first colony on the clay port and the second one between the 2 clay spot, where he put his.
Seeing how poorly clay was positioned, getting as much of it out of the game by trading with the port could only slow down other players growth.

The commentators were not the most professional ones. However, still better than no comments. Also, it was hard to follow the game because the cards of the players were not seen most of the time.

Please help. Im trying to get in touch with a catan tournament official on the phone so i will get an answer on 2 really hard catan rules where in my family each one caused an argument. I want a catan official please or possibly the guy in this video if he is an expert. One situation was in catan knights and cities 6 player and the other situation was in catan starfarers 6 player (Wild Space variation where all planets abd aliens are flipped over and unknown.) Who can i talk to please on the phone?

I feel like orange was afraid to get the longest road too early and ended up paying for it, he protocols hve had it early. And red just got hanged up on by being too strong early and couldn’t recover from fighting with orange.

What were they thinking when they point roads with inital settlements? (Except yellow, his roads made sense)
marchs7 I see the point of some of them but only blue put down roads that were just objectively bad. That road out towards the 9/4/11 when red was obviously going there to the last wheat spot was just dumb. Props to them for eking out the win despite the misplay.

Very strange decision making my orange and red towards the end. Didn’t seem to take blue seriously even when it was clear he had 9 points. Red should have been more aggressive early on to connect their settlements and block longest road. Could have easily won from there
Should have played better defense. Philipp Lahm would be disappointed. Also Red's first road on the second settlement was clearly going nowhere.

At 7:48 Blue makes a weird misplay directing the road towards the right. I can't see red going on any other spot than the 6-4-11. Am I missing something or does the European champion just make such mistakes.

brick/wood is the least important resource
@@clevefisher5726 Yeah you try and build the longest road or any road for that matter with sheep and wheat!
Brick and wood are mostly used for every recipe other than cities and development cards
@@radughita1992 cities and development cards are more valuable then roads, it's a more effiecnt way to play and maximizes your chances for winning if you go with the city/knight strat instead of longest road strat
@@clevefisher5726 Yeah but to build more than 2 cities you do need to build roads and settlements. I agree with you with the whole build cities early part (that's my strategy but i often also like build the longest road) but roads and settlements are simply waay more valuable
@@clevefisher5726 And also expanding with roads and settlements gives you acces to more resources so more rapid progression, building cities amd development cards aren't going to expand the amount of resources you get and a basic rule of Catan is more resources = faster progression.
Can i play the knight card before throwing the dices? And can i play the development card at the same turn that i have built it?
Yes and No, unless it is a victory point

Actually you can only play a victory point card on the same turn you built it if it is the victory point that helps you win the game. If you just built a development card you cannot play it.
What happen if i build 3 consecutive roads and then the other player builds before my last road a town. Can i continue my way building more in my lonely road next to the others player town.
No, your roads can't cross other players towns. This situation is clearly visualised in instruction.
Vego but even if can put a road before they put a town? An example is if i can build 6 roads and other player put a town on my 2nd road i cant use the rest of my way?
Yes, you can, BUT! now you have two roads: (2 segments long and 1 segment long), not one road (3 segments long). In case someone builds a village on your longest road, dividing it into two (for example 3 + 4) , you should give back card for the longest road.

seems like a cool design but very random, in fact on the long run even more random than risk. If I understand this correctly, you need specific resources to build road and settlements, but if you don't roll the dice right you just don't get them even if you get the best squares, so if someone is luckier than you he will expand first and cut you off entirely. I mean, you can't make reliable plans

Jeroen B there is definitely luck in Catan with dice rolls and development cards, but also probability, strategy, and diplomacy. It’s what separates good players from poor players

@@jjaapp18 yes, and this has trading, probability calculations, tactical play and bluffing as well. It is a game of skill, but I admit that chance plays important role. Good player will beat average one 9/10 times.
@@jiriuhricek1866 Except that I'm a good player and lose all the time because rolls are never in my favor. Because everything relies on you getting resources from die rolls, and the odds of you picking the right two locations in the beginning to correlate with those rolls is low. I had a game a few weeks back where I had a brick tile with 5, and a 5 was never rolled once the whole game. So I never got brick, and constantly had to trade/turn in for it.
