- I'm here again with this wonderful VST (now, updated and improved) to show you in a quick way how to recreate some famous synths of the 80s.
HINT: you have to take a look at each knob and reach the settings yourself at your DAW (you can even play and twist a little)

For OB-Xd, cpu usage is very very low.
I use a very cheap pc and i can run a big amount of this plugin at the same time, if you understand me

Awesome sounds. You nailed it. I've been using this plugin for years; it's just great, like many other free VSTs. Great job. People bitching about "it's not EXACTLY the same" forget LOTS of important things:
- there was no free ANYTHING back then. So, appreciate the fact you can have an entire virtual studio FOR FREE, and make music even when you are taking a dump! ;)
- The sounds you hear in songs are the result of the whole signal chain, from when you make the sound until the mastered version, and beyond that: YOUR listening gear, environment and EARS. You'll never hear the "original" sound of the machine.
- With analogue gear, no 2 items sound the same, not even the same item sounds the same from day to day
- Have fun with the tools you have, it's not a cloning contest, it's MUSIC!

How much does an original OBX go for nowadays? Five, Six grand? More? And people complain about a free synth that can get 80% of there, with the added advantage of being able to use as many as your comp can handle... The level of entitlement that goes into that sort of thinking. Hilarious.

That was fun! Great job. This plugin, along with PG8X, Dexed, SQ8L and others Im sure I missed are a fantastic free way to do the 80s in your daw!

It's so great that these sounds ended up being in a free preset bank. For the sheer nostalgic pleasure of just auditioning the sounds for a few minutes (which sometimes turn into hours!) it's one of my all-time favourite sound banks. Thanks for putting it together!

Hi I've been looking for that Brass synth that Toto used in Africa. Is this a patch or I will have to tweak it for myself
You can tweak it yourself

Damn, this sounds really good for a free synth. But tell me, how are you getting that tape wobble and noise? I know you can get it with RC-20 but yours sounds so real
It was a plugin that I don't remember what it was unfortunately.
@@lukessoundhouse9903 I found a nice sounding cassette tape emulator called "Sketch Cassette" though
SketchCassette II by abherrantDSP is what I use
I set up the knobs for seperate ways just as your screen shows but it doesn't sound anything like yours....Do you have the preset so I could add it?

I just gave it a try but the video resolution seems quite low and it was hard to get the exact settings right. It sounded close but not as good as yours 😭😄

@@jaykeel7309 Free or not, the detail gone into the osc detuning & parameters is incredible. The op is great but the obxd is untouchable in many regards. The filter design is incredible

Tom Sawyer patch should be two pulse waves, not sawtooths
I used to own an OB-X and covered Tom Sawyer sometimes. The two oscs are set to pulse waves in unison, detuned until they pulse at the correct tempo. the LFO modulation on them is a sine at 5% duty cycle
I don’t think the last song was meant to be a synth sound

AAX is included with registered license only."
What does does non commercial use mean, does it mean I'm not suppose to realise commercial music I made with the plugn?
It means they want you to pay for it if you are using it in stuff you sell. But honestly, nobody is gonna come bust down your door and kick your family pet if you use the free one LOL you just won't get the vst3 version

It is still free, I think the only paid version is the AUv3 for iPad and iPhone. I recently downloaded the latest version for Mac and it didn't ask me to purchase.
