Someone who isn’t me said the LinnDrum was heard in the 1982 song "1999". I never said that Prince used the LinnDrum or that someone said Prince used the LinnDrum.
Prince used the LinnDrum on practically every 80s songs he made he used the LM-1 on the Controversy album to Purple Rain and the LM-2 literally on everything else right up to the end of that decade
Listening to it again, it doesn't sound too faithful to me, but surely I used I lot of EQ, compressors, reverbs, detune stuff for widening and chorus. And some tape plugin.
Hey man could you give me the flp file because I am trying to recreate the song but I cant get the drums to sound good. I have done all the drum programming but I just need to see what effects to put on the drums to make them sound like they do at the end of the video.
@@TexasSynthWizard They don't have the same thickness, your ears are tricking you. For 'take on me', on the linn drum i used some eq and compression, but on the 'loose snare' i used these things too PLUS gated reverb and a plugin called Fruity Stereo Enhancer with the phase offset about on 15.3ms to the right, so it gives a stereo sound to the snare. The big deal for me on recreating sounds is on the EQ. I always EQ the hell out things to get the sound I want.
I don't think it's that well known. When Espen Kraft recreated this pattern I think he used a second kick track for that pattern, which was a revelation to me as I've been listening to the song for almost 40 years and never even noticed how busy the drums are. (I think Luke is probably right that it's actually a synthesised snare - and it came from the DX - but it's so low in the mix that you can do a reasonably convincing cover version of this song without including that "secret" part. Most listeners are more interested in the main riff, vocals, and bassline, after all).
@@AutPen38 hm yea... i already got the pad and bassline perfectly recreated, but i didnt uploaded them because im still struggeling with the lead patch...
@@talnomix3164 On your upload of 5 months ago, the lead layer sounds close enough for my terrible ears. Juno and PPG, right? (For years, I presumed it was a DX-7, because that often appeared on TV shows, but I think they used that for the bass).
Thanks a lot man! You helped me a ton. I was looking for recreating the song for a MIDI style cover. Love you man! Amazing work.
Its criminal you don't have more subscribers. Your videos rock and your producing chops are on point!
Wow man, thank you very much! This comment means a lot to me!
Any suggestions, just go ahead and say it
very happy to have found your page, somewhere to share this 80s obsession lol
Thank you very much! I definitely have an 80s obsession 😂
The LinnDrum was heard in the 1982 song "'65 Love Affair".
Brilliant, Thanks for this !

@@scottptolomey3498 Nope, Prince still used the LM-1
@@techjo85 I’m surprised it lasted that long
I wonder if you can find that preset in logic Pro X
Ficou bastante fiel. Excelente

I'm really sorry man, I didn't save the flp
I have to re do the process
@@lukessoundhouse9903 Thats fine...Do you know at least what effects you put on the snare and kick? Thats whats kicking my butt.
@@lukessoundhouse9903 Also do you have the Maniac drum loop FLP saved? That snare has the same "thickness" of this snare.

@@TexasSynthWizard And for the Kick, I don't remember very well... Sounds like I boosted the mids and compressed, to cut through the mix
That 2nd snare octave down sounds off

I never heard the DX7 in this video.
Yes you Heard it. Its The rythm snare that are used as The Loop hats
