  • Roy Richard Scheider (November 10, 1932 - February 10, 2008) was an American actor and amateur boxer. He played Martin Brody in the thriller film Jaws (1975), reprising the role in its sequel Jaws 2 (1978).
Scheider gained fame for his leading and supporting roles in celebrated films in addition to the Jaws films, from the 1970s through to the early to mid-1980s. These roles included NYPD Detective Buddy "Cloudy" Russo in The French Connection (1971); NYPD Detective Buddy Manucci in The Seven Ups (1973); Doc in Marathon Man (1976); choreographer and film director Joe Gideon (whose character was based on Bob Fosse) in All That Jazz (which was co-written and directed by Fosse) (1979); and Dr. Heywood R. Floyd in the 1984 film 2010, the sequel to 2001: A Space Odyssey.

The two best performances of Scheider’s career. It’s a shame he never won an Academy Award.

I'd put Sorcerer up there with All That Jazz over Jaws....

@@KClouisville I think Jaws is the best out of the 3 movies, but I agree that Sorcerer and All that Jazz are his best performances.

Chief Brodybwas my first movie hero as I was born in 68. I studied theatre in NYC where he studied. Didn't help I still sucked as an actor, but there was something genuine and likeable about Roy i really wish I had a chance to meet him. He seemed like a great person to have a chat with.

He was always one of my favorite actors. He really is informative about his profession.

Roy should've won an Oscar for All that Jazz over Hoffman for Kramer vs Kramer.

Boy do I miss intelligent interviewers/journalists. You can tell Roy appreciated the interview too by how engaged he is.

He doesn't utter one word about JAWS in this

      Exactly!
The interviewer says "You're friends with Richard Dreyfuss, well, obviously, you did JAWS together." That's it! The other 99.9% is a discussion of ALL THAT JAZZ.

The interviewer says "You're friends with Richard Dreyfuss, well, obviously, you did JAWS together." That's it! Other than that split second mention of JAWS, this is 100% a discussion of ALL THAT JAZZ. You guys are pretty much practicing CLICK BAIT on this video.
