On the old Cummins you don’t need voltage at the fuel pump, just turn in the screw on the front of the shut off valve, this put the pump on manual and once started it will run till it’s out of fuel or blows up. The only thing that needs 24 volts is the starter, 24 volts will burn out the fuel pump solenoid. When we were up on the ice roads we would turn the pump on manual in case we had electrical problems. When we wanted to turn off the truck we would back out the screw.
Many of the Cummins 855 /ntc engines use 24v starters but nothing else on the truck is 24v. They use a series parallel relay for the starter with sends 24v into the starter. If you hook straight 24v up you can have a fire.
Hey guys from Brisbane Australia 🇦🇺 Big fan of the channel, keep up the great work Your videos are the highlight of my day and I watch them over and over again Can not wait to see what you boys have install next 👍🍺
Those graphics look like the factory issue from that era of K/W.. It’d be nice to have the measurements off the hood layout, to provide to those looking to replicate them. So many have tried, but never really succeeded.
If you look to the left side of the fuel solenoid you will see a thumb screw, unscrew it to override the solenoid and you can then run it without a feed of electrical power to the pump, just screw it back in again to shut the fuel off.
10 months later bruce, these comments inspired me to finally cut my at the time hair. thanks for that. we're missing you though. we got our dealers license back so we're ready to sell these trucks again.
I have an air start school bus! LOL! If thats not weird!? I got it for super cheap too! It hadnt ran in 4 years. So i brought a small jobsite compressor out to the bus. Charged the tank up. It fired right up! My bus operates with just a small pickup battery.
You dont need to open that fuel return you need is just turn the manual shut off valve at ftont of solenoid switch just turn clock wise and fill the fuel of fuel filter.
Bruce you should tell Tim Gentry bout that place he wants older engines and trucks and you guys should do a collaboration together again when yall have time again
*I might go to the Dade City Junkyard with a friend of mine we are going to be restoring old abandoned trucks and selling them for money and some we might keep for our small company Fleet! What is the address to the junkyard?*
Congratulations 🎊 for 3 years 👏 Even though I'm new to your channel, I'm over halfway through the back episodes. The way you're talking, you're thinking about throwing in the towel. Don't tell me I'm wasting my time following your channel. I've also been recording the new TV series, and if I get off the road for a long weekend, I'm binge watching Best wishes for another 30 years, at least Irish wishes at that 👍🇮🇪
If you looking for Scania Show trucks keep an eye on germany. There was a famous trucker „Andreas Schubert“ who unfortunately died in 2020 and there were rumors his wife is planning to sell some of the trucks from his fleet because du to the fact Andreas has passed. Rip Andreas Schubert
Could you put a rubber hose over to fix the air tank to start it with air? Or maybe you have a old compressor and weld a connection for a big hose on?😅
Rayan, don't worry about the bug fear. I have been afraid of bug's my life whole life. once at my first real job off the farms i about ran down my one boss's and to make it even worse my boss was a lady and she did not understand why I was afraid of yellew jackets!!!!
Ryan needs a lesson on the difference between throttle pedal and starter button.
Hold the throttle down and Ryan holds the start button 🤣🤣🤣
Yeah he was killing me lmao 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣😂
I just saw it. And even after asking which one the throttle is 😂
For real 🤦🏼♂️
Some people just need to stick to sitting behind a camera

That kenworth deserves to be restored it’s a beautiful truck.
Hold the throttle down. Ryan hits the starter button 🤣🤣
That starter gear was getting DESTROYED!!!!

Get the AIR START goin!
I want to so bad. It’s def cool
Cool stuff.....Good to hear em' come back to life..
The engine in the 1981 Kenworth sounds really healthy 👍 Great video 😊👍
So many engines left sitting in alot of trucks. They need to be saved theres probably alot of use left in them. Definitely a gold mine.
Hold the throttle down and you got Ryan holding the starter wtf Ryan you have got to be kidding me right ?!?!?
Now it runs I hope someone saves cool old trucks those things heaps of character.

Loved the drive shaft! Lmao "That drive shaft does NOT look healthy!" 😂😂
That thing was drilling for oil! 😂😂😂
Those graphics look like the factory issue from that era of K/W..

A man asking another man to kill to kill a spider for him lmfao 😂😂😂😂😂
HELL YEAH BROTHER!!
AIR START!!! YOU FOUND ONE!!!👌😁👍
That engine sounds great, amazing, gorgeous...
Diesel engines just want to live. Amazing, it sounds so good.

Trucks that start up after being sat for decades deserve to be saved
the Detroit is an 8V92N 365 hp @2100. The Cummins is a big cam 350.
Imagine building this engine 42 years ago and watching this video now 👍
Just a little piece of advice if you look at the name plate on the alternator it'll say the voltage
Back when they built big trucks good!
Let's see that B model Mack run!!
For me seeing an antique Mack truck revived is a wet dream. Those trucks were born with character.
Hey Ryan … you need to grow a couple… seriously
Of course. Go for the b model start 😎
That 855 big cam needs a new home!!
18:19 EWWWWW Don’t sneeze on me! It’ll give me Covid!
You dont need to open that fuel return you need is just turn the manual shut off valve at ftont of solenoid switch just turn clock wise and fill the fuel of fuel filter.
Cummins engine is a friendly easy to repair and it is easy to define deffect of unit
Whell i was hopin the detroit would start 😊
Buy the B model CAT and fully refresh it over time for the TV. Turn it up!
The motor that’s in the truck you started is a 350 small cam Cummins I believe
Ok if that Cummins KW builds air you can fill the air tank of the air start motor (once you fix supply hose)
I think best truck for ever
Bruce and Ryan's first Australian Kenworth
Ryan isn't to bright
Buy the Pete buddy
Save it mate that's a pretty truck.
Did you take that truck to shop and keep it
He’s as afraid of spiders as I am! (Being venomous, can you blame him?) every one of those rotted diesel wrecks is an Arachnopolis! 🕷️🕸️
That engine needs saving, it sounds so good.
Yeah most times
the engine isn't the problem why it's in the woods. Id say if not robbed of parts 50% will start.
Love to see you start the cat up
You should bring the old truck you got started home and give it a new life
Bruce you should tell Tim Gentry bout that place he wants older engines and trucks and you guys should do a collaboration together again when yall have time again
James Pretty needs that big cam engine!
Throttle pedal not starter button. That boy ain't too bright.
He never did get it and even had to ask which peddle. The KW one lol. What a idiot.
Lmao what an idiot bruce told him to hold the throttle and he is burning the starter up 😅
Start everything !

Yup! You are correct😂😂
Camera man is a baby
What happened to the pulling cabover that had rats in it? Poor Ryan holding the starter button down instead of the fuel pedal.
Throttle and start button? Now that’s a stretch!
19:56 a new short bed Silverado regular cab

Could you put a rubber hose over to fix the air tank to start it with air? Or maybe you have a old compressor and weld a connection for a big hose on?😅
