I recently rebuilt my thirty year old, wood handled, steel trayed wheelbarrow. The wheel had been destroyed years ago and the barrow had been useless for those years. I found someone offering TWO old wheelbarrow on the Craigslist "free" site not far from me and I picked them up. They were both trashed, but had one good pneumatic tire, which proved to leak. I refinished the steel tray, still pretty much intact except for rust around the bolt holes. New bolts were required since the bolts were rusted into immobility. I b rush painted Kilz primer on all the wood and metal, followed by exterior house paint ---because that's what I had available at no cash outlay. The leaky tire was annoying. A month or so after the rebuild, I found a plastic trayed wheelbarrow being sold for $10 and a wheelbarrow wheel being sold for $5, pretty nbear each other and not far from where I live. I bought both. The wheel and flat free tire were both good and I swapped them out on my old barrow, leaving my thirty year old wheelb arrow in excellent operating condition for the cost of a $5 tire and some bolts. The other barrow was in good condition except for some cracking around the bolt holes. I added a layer of plastic to cover and reinforce the bottom of the tray, and replaced rusted bolts. I discovered how the cracks in the tray had likely occurred when I overtightened the bolts and could hear the tray cracking further. Not really a proble though. So now I have two very functional wheelbarrows. Why two? Because they were cheap and available! I recently forked compost into both barrows to turn it, then ran each barrow into the pile to empty them. A useful task for two barrows! A few notes: 1) A wheelbarrow is a VEHICLE that should be inspected, maintained and repaired as needed. Don't just neglect it until it fails completely! Look at it critically once in a while to see what needs to be done. Painting up the tray or handles as needed will postpone failure, and even better would be a rebuild as needed to take everything apart and to repaint and rebuild everything as needed. 2) loosening and greasing or oiling the bolts once or twice a year might avoid having them seize up and need to be replaced. I'd like to see a manufacturer who offers stainless steel bolts to avoid corrosion to the bolts. ---Even galvanized bolts would likely be a big improvement. Of course I didn't invcest in stainless steel bolts when I rebuilt my trusty old bvarrow ----but I probably should have. 3) I found it satisfying to rebuild my old barrow rather than replace it. I'm p[lanning to paint on my name and the date of my rebuild. The barrow should be around, serving someone, longer than I will be! So check out Craigslist and see if you can find an old barrow that needs some love and a new home!
Great Review😍😀 Horrible Pricing !!! Anybody in their right mind, would NOT pay $300-400 for a wheelbarrow !! After Ebay some took you to Home Depot or another store that price came back down to earth. Again I loved the review, but someone should change the links to go to store that sells the brand at a fair price. I'm glad I wasn't eating while looking for the deals I could have choked to death. Thanks for sharing your talent and videos, Rodney
We have a four wheeled steerable dumping wheel barrow with a traditional bucket. We've never found another like it. Everything else, including the ones in this video are hopelessly outdated and silly.
