Best Wheelbarrow for Landscaping? Single, Dual Wheel, Metal, Poly?

- I made this video talking about the different types of wheelbarrows that can be used for landscaping. I have been in search for a quality wheelbarrow that is easy to use and comfortable at the same time. I see value in having both a single wheel and dual wheel version. After using the dual wheel version I believe that is easier to roll as it has two wheels contacting the ground. Typically the dual wheelbarrows can hold more so the will be heavier because of that. The single wheel version allows for more maneuverability in tight spaces or the be able to get into tighter areas such as past shrubs and flowers with out running them over.
Please share your thoughts on your preference of wheelbarrows wether that is single wheel, dual wheel, metal, poly or any specific brand that you like the most.

Dual wheels all day baby!! Buckets stacked in the week barrel for landscaping ultimate hack for me!!
WOW, great to see the dual wheel that we made for Tractor.
Outstanding
Thanks for the video. Saw one on Cariola wheelbarrows but at 900 delivered I couldn't keep watching. Lol.
You still need a good wheelbarrow, the metal handles on the Kobalt and the True Temper will rust from the inside out and break at the closest bolt point to the handle grips, the poly tub will break the first time you use it in cold weather with rocky material, brick, or old concrete. You need a Jackson, they come with a run flat tire, they are not that expensive, and last a long time, just keep the wooden handles covered when not in use and you wont need another wheelbarrow for a long time, I've had them so long that the tub has worn thru from material sliding out, Concrete is tough on a Wheelbarrow, Just my opinion of course.
Not hard to keep the bolts greased up once a month or so no rust will form take it apart and apply anti seizure and you’ll never have to worry about it again
Just grease inside the steel handles with WOOLWAX or liquidfilm. Jacksons folded are very nice but pricey.
The"backwards stand" on the true temper is for dumping concrete into a form. That shape is great for taking a 2x4 and dumping over the form. Hopefully i explained that clearly. The kobalt one would slip right off
I understand what you mean and that does make sense!
I never knew that and now I feel dumb for not realizing it. That makes perfect sense.
@@Acaidia ive been in that situation too. We all have haha. God bless

Thanks for the explanation. You have added to my fund of wheelbarrow knowledge.
Just an FYI, I have a poly bin wheelbarrow. I always store my wheelbarrow upside down. In a recent hail storm, a golf ball size hail stone went right through the poly bin. Nothing lasts forever.
You are right about that. Both Poly and Metal have their pros and cons.
When I was a kid ,I would sit on it andmy mom gave me ride😂
Wow. Hail went through a poly bin! Wow. After reading reviews it seems a metal bin is the best way to go. I had to retire a 40-50 year old classic after it was burn in a fire. Can't remember the brand, I think just a store brand from the 70s, a heavy metal one wheel version. Unfortunately the bin was cracked from having rafters fall on it.
Good wheelbarrows can last a long time!
Can I ask what you think about that dual wheeled wheelbarrow after a year of use? Do you still like it? Did the poly/plastic split? Thanks so much!
It seems to be holding up. My main worry was the wheels as I have heard that they tend to loose air but I have been lucky with mine. I also do not use it in high risk areas where there might be sharp edges or nail. The poly seems to be holding up just fine. That may be a different story if you were slapping big rocks or chunks of concrete in it frequently. I did make one adjustment to the bolts that hold the tub to the arms. It was just the bolt going right up against the poly but I got the biggest washer I could in order to keep that from being a high stress point.
I can't have heavy equipment or noise on my job site and need to dig out and move 2400 cubic feet of Central Florida Sandy soil a distance of 60 feet. Does a 6 cubic foot wheelbarrow really hold 6 cubic feet? That's 400 trips! How hard will it be to roll and and dump full loads of sand? What kinda of pain am In for? Think it's a job a mortal can do in 2 days?
It sounds like it may be beneficial to rent a machine to help you. I would say it will be very difficult to roll a full wheelbarrow of sand. Thats probably a few hundred pounds. Not to mention and inclines. So if possible machine power is always easier than man power.
How is the poly holding up compared to metal 4 years later?
The dual wheel looks beautiful, the yellow or gold color wheelborrow has craks but you can repair it by using a welder machine with 6013 DC electrode .
The dual wheel barrow has been a great investment. I have loved the fact that it is easier to roll even though it holds more material. The goldish wheel barrow unfortunately was smashed a little by my tractor so it is not worth messing with. It will be going to the scrap yard.

Most of us know exactly how welding with the 6013 DC electrode will enable us to maintain the beauty of the dual wheel wheelbarrow.
@@Irwhodunit Ah bueno🤷♂️ en ese caso bien por ustedes.

That would be a shame! I suspect that you can pound out any dents with a hammer. The cracks can be reinforced. And most wheelbarrows fail for a bad wheel or rotted out handles. You can probably look for and find a barrow with a good tray and swap out the tray you have for another. That looks like a good wheel and frame ---- hope you don't throw that away!
And that looks like a barrow worth preserving, although it needs to be disassembled completely, primed and painted ---wood included.
The poly barrow is likely best for your mulch and other bulky but light weight work, while the steel barrows are best for heavy rock, earth, concrete and such.
I like that you have three barrows and can choose the best one for different applications.
But they all need and deserve to be inspected and maintained as needed.
Am Leonard makes the best wheelbarrow I’ve found
Had a two-wheeler for 10 minutes, just taking it empty to my back yard I was done, After 6o years of wheelbarrowing I could not get used to turning it. Would not be easy in gardens IMHO. Took it right back LOL
You are right! They definitely take some getting used to when turning and handling with two front wheels. They do however offer more stability which can reduce some fatigue since you do not have to worry about pushing and balancing a heavy load. Also they are not good in tight garden beds when you are trying to navigate plants. But having more then one style can be beneficial. Thanks for sharing!
If you are still looking for a good wheelbarrow, try a TUFX wheelbarrow, it's the best in the market.
I will have to look into that one!
Hi Scott, I really want to provide you a TUFX wheelbarrow for your evaluation. Especially all of TUFX wheelbarrow can be changed from one wheel to dual wheel, I think you will love it.
I will take one!
These are all good wheelbarrows, but nowadays ladies buy them for gardening.
I think that a lot of women would prefer a wheel burrow with one tire on the front, and two on the back. That way they can just roll it.
I am not sure if I have ever seen a wheel barrow with wheels on the front and back. That would be more along the lines of a wagon in my mind.
True temper total control handles wheelbarrow is the best
I am not sure if I am familiar with that one. I will have to look it up to see what the handles look like.
True Temper is garbage. I just returned mine after finding cracks in the cheap plastic supports. Had to dis assemble to get in truck.
wheelbarrows
they're all crap. I have a 4 wheeled dumping barrow that is simple enough for anyone to use.
