Led zeppelin was the most versatile band and never copied or repeated themselves. Every song and every album is different. It's very nice that after more than 50 years young people are discovering this fantastic music for themselves. Greetings from Germany
Love your reactions. I'm 69 and I can see the same kind of excitement in you that I had listening to Led Zep 50+ years ago. Makes me feel young again. I think it proves that good music is timeless. As with me, I hope you find that as you grow older, your appreciation of different genres of music will expand. I now enjoy and appreciate everything from (some) Eminem to Creedence Clearwater Revival, Steely Dan, Elvis Presly, Jethro Tull, Nightwish, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Electric Light Orchestra, Alan Parsons Project, Carpenters, John Denver, Mamas and the Papas, Beach Boys, Jimmy Hendrix, The Beatles, Jimmy Buffet, Glenn Miller, Johnny Cash, Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, Liszt, on and on and on... Don't try to do it all at once. Do it little by little so you can absorb and appreciate it. I know you will become very busy with college and then getting a job and starting a family. But you should carve out some time to delve into some of the wide variety of music that is available out there. I will be happy to provide some direction if you want it.
Every LZ song is a real journey, eh? They were so very versatile and creative. Your comment about parts of it sounding like rap are on point. Record producer, Rick Rubin, said about this song, "The descending riff is amazing and the rhythm of the vocals is almost like a rap. It's insane, one of their most psychedelic songs." LZ was waaaay ahead of their time. This is one of their first recorded songs written by Plant, and it's also the first time Bonham set up and used a Chinese gong, which can be heard right about mid-way through. I love this song and so glad you enjoyed it. Rock on! :)
I was 17 when the came out and honestly " Whole lotta love" ranks in my top 10 least favorite Zeppelin songs. However they followed up with this gem. One of my favorite all time Zeppelin songs.
Hi Silas! I'm so happy to see your generation loving Led Zeppelin. It's the way the music pans left to right, with headphones. They are the GOATS. Like Chopin or Gershwin their music and artistry will live on for generations to come. I subscribed, to support you and your channel. R
This song's inspiration was the affair Robert was having (or had already had) with his sister in law. Before joining Led Zeppelin, Robert dated Shirley first and loved her very much but she wanted him to leave music altogether for a steady, stable job, so he broke up with her and started dating her sister, Maureen. He would marry Maureen when she got pregnant, but, apparently kept on with Shirley as well. This is one of the few songs they all harmonize on. Their songs are crafted exceptionally well; they're structured in a way that gives the sense of movement so you feel it is actually taking you somewhere. Thanks for the reaction.
That is a new story. The story I heard is that Plant and Maureen Wilson, both from middle class backgrounds, were a couple from 1966, when both were 18. They married in 1968 a few weeks after Carmen was born. Maureen, who was a nurse, was supporting Plant financially as he tried to find work as a professional singer. One story says Plant met Maureen at a Georgie Fame concert. Another says a friend was dating her little sister Shirley and he met Maureen through Shirley. A photo of Plant on August 11 1967 when he was in court on marijuana charges shows him sitting with Shirley and another girl. Eight people accompanied him to the court that day as a protest. The caption says Shirley was just 15. Was Plant really dating a 14 year old in 1966 and who was pushing him to get a steady job? Plant and Maureen divorced in 1983. When he took up with Shirley is not clear but it was 8 years after that divorce that Shirley had a child to him. The relationship is usually described as brief. Whatever it was it was not an affair at least by Plant. He was single. No idea if Shirley was married
@@davidcarter4247 hi David nice to meet you. Perhaps he didn't date Shirley first, however from several sources I've read, he was definitely involved with both prior to his divorce from Maureen. The one I remember off the top of my head comes from Peter Grant's book "Bring It On Home" where Peter tells the interviewer that he'd barely met Robert for the first time before Robert started telling him about his woes of dating two sisters and trying to keep the situation together. Still, I'll see what sleuthing I can do on the whole story. Thanks for your comment.
@@henriettaskolnick4445 Hi. When Grant met Plant the first time in August 1968 Maureen was 7 months pregnant. They had long passed dating. It is always possible he was involved with Shirley.. By the time Grant met Plant a relationship with Shirley not a crime. Maureen was very much the attractive sister, quite a looker. Shirley was a dumpy little thing. I am from that era. I can say these things.
The band showing off its range. Such softness, and then bum! That contrast makes the song for me, one of my favorites, and a very underrated tune, tbh. Love to see you really get and enjoy this music. Best band ever, if you ask Jack Black, and best drummer ever, if you ask anybody. Tnx, keep on rocking to the Zepp!
The effect used on Plant's vocals sounds like they are fed through a Leslie speaker, usually used in Hammond organs. A swirling effect created by a motor literally rotating a high frequency speaker cone to create a phasing sound. It might also have been that Page was using the studio tape machines to create a similar kind of sound, it became known as 'flanging' or 'phasing'. The input signal, in this case a vocal, is split and then manipulated to shift in and out of phase, creating a slightly queasy effect. It can be heard being used creatively on vocals, guitars, keyboards and drums in various classic pop and rock songs of the 60's and 70's eras to give tracks a trippy feel. As electronics developed over the years the sound could be recreated simply in effects pedals and units.
Thing is, the tempo doesn't change, even through the song's pauses, you can tap a constant steady beat. It doesn't really speed up between those transitions, it's just alternating between soft and loud passages.
What is: music you love. What should never be: saying some music is bad. There's stuff you like and there's stuff you don't like. Neither of those feelings make something good or bad. They're just personal perceptions. You're a 'good' lad. That's a perception.
Gotta do Pink Floyd next it’s a trip best of the best.. do the whole Dark Side of the Moon album and I watch ya do the whole album at once..lovelovelove ❤️✌🏻🌸
Remaster is just a collection of Led Zeppelin songs, many of them from late 60s and early70s remixed in 1990 by Jimmy Page so the songs are still starting from 1968 + because of your comment on Ramble On thinking the song was from 1990 but in reality the song was recorded and on the market in 1969. Cheers
They have soooooo many !
this has a GLORIOUS bassline!
Your facial expression is dead on accurate.. it's got that sultry but grimy nasty thick sound.. perfect expression man
One of my favorite Zeppelin songs ever!

well, pink floyd did that too, and way better lyrics, sorry.
Zep, one of the first bands to really work that dynamic. Gentle buildup to hammer of the gods hard is their modus operandi.

Just wait for the lemon song The bass line blow your mind
So early in their career, but this is still one of Page's finest moments in regards to studio recording and producing...

The effect on his voice is a Phase Shifter.
Come to think of it, I think he's just running the vocals through a Leslie Tone Cabinet. Sometimes it's hard for me to tell the difference.

One of my fav Zep songs
Love it! The speed changes are Devine. I’m ready for the Lemon Song😃

Everything that Henrietta said !! ☮️
This has always been one of my favorites. Love the descending chords in the outro.
Love the guttural responses

They used a Phlange to give his voice that sound and effect. great techical tool that some bands used back then.
Definitely the best song on that album.
Plant is Miced from a Leslie rotating organ horn system driven by a Fan belt. Lol Matched to a Hammond B3 is a staple of all rock bands to this day.
He's looking at you,kid.
Check out "Bring it on Home" and "Ten Years After."
GREAT reactions!!!
When Giants Walked The Earth 🌎
This album is also fire but less raw than the first album and much more funky. John Paul Jones' bass lines on this album are brilliant.
Gotta do Pink Floyd next it’s a trip best of the best.. do the whole Dark Side of the Moon album and I watch ya do the whole album at once..lovelovelove ❤️✌🏻🌸
😎 GOATS!!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

There's no Rap i Zepps Music.
whats with the video and you talking not same video ?
The craziest part about Led Zeppelin is how Page is easily the greatest guitarist ever but probably the third-best member of that band, Plant fourth.
