Thanks so much. I am a 62 yo retired nurse. I followed your instructions and got my chest freezer that was out of commission for 2 years up and working again!!😊
Omg I just fixed our deep freezer🎉🎉. My Husband didn't think it would work but he is so proud of me now. Thanks for this video it's a life saver🙏🏽🙏🏽
Awesome 👍
OG…you are the freaking MAN! $17 bucks and it runs like new. Video was A1 and your instructions were perfect. Feel like I owe you a service fee! Thanks
Watched your video. Ordered the part. Installed the part. Up and running. Bragged to my wife, who was amazed I got it fixed. Thank you so much!
Many, many Thanks. My freezer died about 2-3 months ago. Finally got the model number off the back and looked it up and saw where Sears said non-illustrated items are not serviceable. Found your video and went to the link and bought the Supco URCO410 and it works like a dream again. Already starting to cool. Thank you very much for taking the time to put up the video.
THANK YOU a million times, Pete! I am a 40-something mom who has never done any kind of electrical work and this worked like a charm! You are wonderful to share this valuable tutorial! Saved me a huge amount of $ and hassle.
Awesome, I'm glad it worked out 👍
Followed your step-by-step directions and got the chest freezer running again today. Hopefully, it'll last a while. Very informative video. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
The reason God created the Internet. This saved me money, sure, but it also avoided lots of headache, reduced the amount of waste, and gave me a solid sense of satisfaction without spending a bazillion.
You, Sir, are a gift. Thank you for your research and patience.
You are so KNOWLEDGEABLE Pete!!! Thank-you for helping and teaching others so freely! God bless you!
Thank you 👍
Thank you! We fixed our 4 yr old freezer and saved money, that's a huge relief in this economy 😊
Thank you thank you thank you. I have looked thru dozens of videos trying to see exactly what you just showed. I was confused on the power cords and where they go and all the other videos wanna try explaining instead of walking you thru the actual process... Im about to go fix my freezer now thanks to you
You, Sir, deserved a spot in heaven. You are my hero. My chest freezer is working again. Thank you for posting your video.
Awesome thanks 👍
Absolutely great video. Thanks for sharing and even putting a link to the $22 part. Only had to wait 3 days for the part and was able to get the freezer up and running again in 20 minutes. Saved me from buying a new freezer. Thanks for taking the time to make the video.
Glad it helped!
Thanks Pete. I'm still going to buy another small chest freezer. I will repair the old one and put in the garage for other items. I had to get my neighbors to lend me room in their freezer, but want to get my food items out of their way as soon as possible. That spare freezer will give me peace of mind.
Thank you so much again. I commented two days ago that I ordered the part from Amazon. Received it today and installed it. It turned right on. Thanks 🙏 again
Awesome, I'm glad it worked out for you 👍
Thanks for sharing this! If our old freezer stops running, I'll check for this first!
Thank you man , I'm so proud of you, I fix my freezer in five minutes, and the part cost me $12 on Amazon. Thank you again for the video.
Saved me buying a new freezer. Great tip!!! Thanks
Wow! This helped my 13 YO deep freeze that just went out on us. Took 3 days to get off Amazon, I installed it myself and it immediately kicked on. Thank you, Pete!!
Awesome 👍
Great video and your advice was 100% correct. I just fixed my Danby chest freezer purchased from Costco 7 years ago, using the 3 in 1 SUPCO start capacitor. Thank you!
The supco device and a new thermostat worked for me. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Good to see you survived the cold weather this week 😉
Best video tutorial I have ever watched.
excellent explanation...thank you for sharing knowledge..Blessings to you and yours.
Thanks a lot for making this detailed informational video. Great job!. I followed your guidance and fixed my chest freezer today and it is back to work again.
Where can I get a start capacitor in Rocky Mount, NC?
I have food that I need to freeze, the food inside it.
Thank you Pete that was a great tutorial, now I need to get a suitable start capacitor for my Hisense chest freezer. model FC1D7AWD
thanks - just fixed mine, you made it super easy
Thank you so much, have the exact freezer and finding you was a blessing. Ordered part from Amazon, installed it and poof! Thank you thank you thank you!
Awesome 👍
Thank you so much for the video!!! It fixed my freezer. I really appreciate it!
Very nice. Thank you for the fix!!!
Pete - awesome find and fix!
Nicely done! Appliance repair shops are going to be coming for you if you keep these kinds of tips coming... you will be costing them business! 😅 Great video Pete - thanks for sharing 🤠
Excellent.
You need to add the words connector, and connection to the vocabulary. 'Prong' is OK but 'terminal' is a better word to use.
Great job!
Man, my neighbor threw away a freezer similar to that one.
I picked up and put um my garage.
Than I found your video but when I removed the cover the capacitor was not there so I guess he had already tried to fix it.
Well, I installed the capacitor you recommended and dang … started to work.
I couldn’t be more happy.
Many thanks for the help.
Awesome 👍
Thank you so much. Just looked up your video before throwing this exact model out. Part ordered today. Finger crossed it fixes the issue. Thank you. Great video. Follow up. Just installed this tonight. Works great.
Awesome, I hope it works out for you.
Nice job Pete! Only suggestion I would make is paint some plasti-dip insulation on the outside of the plugs that go to the compress. I would be concerned with vibration they might eventually move and touch creating a short (should just trip the breaker, but still would be a hassle). Some plasti-dip would help insure that would never happen even if they did touch.
I can do this. I fix more things in my house than repair guys do. I'm excited. Thanks.
Great video man! Thank you from young dude that’s trying to save money!🤠
You are the cat’s meow, Pete. 👏👏👏
Thank you so much! Followed this step by step! It works!!!
Awesome 👍
Works, thank you! Great video.
This worked! Thank you.
Valuable and helpful...superb!
Excellent video with excellent lighting! Lot of videos do use enough light
Thanks 👍
You couldn't have posted this at a better time. Mine went out a couple weeks ago as well.
Thank you for your help great job
Great Video! 😊
You are helpful. Thank you sir
It would be better if the spade connectors were covered with a rubber or plastic covering to prevent arcing. Good fix, Pete! I had to replace our outside unit on our heat pump, it was 14 years old and sounded as though it was rattling pretty bad. New one very quite. It's a Goodman, which are suppose to good one's but buying parts usually take 17 weeks, which would have meant a cheaper heat. The guy said the compressor grounded itself.
ALWAYS TAKE A PICTURE FIRST. To refer to later.
I will try thank you for letting us
Thanks for this video 👍👍👍
I have to try this ASAP! Wish me luck
Super very nice video ,thank!!
Thanks, I ordered the part. I’ll let you know how it goes. 🙏
It worked. Thank you.
This video is gonna save me a bunch of money
Great work. The original compressor still works, you just changed a capacitor 🎉🎉🎉
Hey foxybuddy - so really his capacitor went out and he could have just ordered a new small start capacitor with the spec micro farad then it would work, right?
Awesome Fix.....I am going to buy a start and run capacitor as insurance.
Thank you this really helps a lot
i think will be a good idea to buy the parts and have then on hand just in case.
Might be too early but thank you for showing me how I may be able to fix my not too old Hotspot freezer. Saving me the cost of buy another problematic new throw away.
I knew it was something fairly simple. I will let you know if it worked for me. Been pretty sick with a cold bug to try out but will try when I get the new 3 in 1 capacitor!
I can’t thank you enough for this video. I was able to fix my freezer 🕺
Awesome 👍
Thanks
Brilliant!!!
Thanks! going to buy a half dozen of those just to have around in case...
Good man thanks for details and link
Hats off to you sir. You saved me alot of money in frozen meat. Not to mention how happy my wife is , not only because the money saved but she has an awesome husband who knows how to fix things… 🤫 lets keep this between us
Awesome, glad it worked out for you 👍
Thank you sir, got er goin!
Awesome. Thank you so much...very useful information and easy to understand, I think I can do it as there is no 💪around the house 😊, thanks alot, could save me alot of $$$$.
thank you so march
That plug you removed also has the overload interrupt device that will cut the compressor off if it overheats, you should have just unplugged the capacitor and replaced it as now there isn't an overload/overheat prevention on it and it could be a fire hazard now.
Thanks 🫡
So basically just leave the plug there and graft onto the wires for the old capacitor?
@@cmills1008 Yes, the overload is inside that little module that plugs directly onto those terminals on the top of the compressor. Inside that little plug is a thermal switch that automatically powers the compressor off in the case of an overheat so that it won't burn out if it runs out of refrigerant and starts running "dry" and gets hot and burns out., or if the condenser coil gets blocked and starts building heat up to the point it burns out the compressor. The overload on the compressor has saved a couple of my compressors over the years and I would not ever run a compressor without one now.
everything worked out
Great 👍
Awesome.
Thank a you sir!
Gave you a like and a sub because this video is exactly what I came looking for!
Awesome thank you 👍
thank you
You should open up the plug before replacing anything and inspect the ceramic disc inside. Mine was worn which was interrupting the current flow. I just flipped it around and it fixed the problem, no parts needed.
I fix my refrigerator few months ago similar problem. I would suggest go back in and zip tie that capacitor and wires. And the vibration running if those wires you can pass you to get next to that compressor they can get over hot milk or premature death of your new capacitor. Very good video very succinct instructions good job thank you
Yep good idea 👍
Thank you so much for the sharing your work I’m about to purchase can feet’s for any freezer?
You are the best
Thanks for the great repair instructions. Question, the system is running, but the operating light is not lit? Any suggestions?
I just figured out that the "3 n 1" start capacitor has the overcurrent protection and start relay built in.
Thanks for video. This looks like my wire setup on my chest freezer. Doing it this way, does the thermostat shut off the compressor when it reaches temperature?
You may change the relay - but the compressor oil is very cheap and degrades after a few years - depends how hard the compressor has to work. As oil wears down, compressor too wears down and takes longer to pressurize the refrigerant, so overheats even more.. and wears down even faster. It's designed to fail after 3-5 years, depends how often you open door or put fresh items to be frozen. Same design and compressor on the mini fridges and wine coolers. By the way the electrical connectors on the relay have a locking pin which is difficult to remove - depends which side of the connector is exposed, you may want to either push pin in while pulling connector out, or lift pin - I used the tip of a cutter blade. A second person is helpful here. You can actually even open the relay and rotate 180 deg the coin like piece that it's inside, will work for another 2-3 years. The bottom of the relay has two plastic tabs on the *side* of the relay, just gently press them out with tiny flat screwdriver, and bottom comes out. But again, compressor oil is so weak, once it starts degrading the compressor will be on its way out in a few months or so.
If it can't be fixed, keep it and use it for parties. It makes a good igloo cooler.
Good job✅✅✅✅✅
I realized you were using URCO410 3-in-1 to kick start the compressor. Other people used URCO810 3-in-1. I also found the former is for much larger units while the ‘810 is for small household refrigerators. There is another model, ‘110 is for something in between. Will ‘410 work better?
I have this problem, but my compressor wasn't making much noise and was getting hot, that's when it worked. Then it died yesterday or before. The light went out, no running, no cooling. Is it supposed to get very warm? I mean I could touch it.
Good job fixing your freezer.
Hey Pete, thanks for the video. Do you have a video of how to replace the fan? It's making loud humming noise
No, sorry
Can you tell me which model you have? Looks the same as mine except when I removed my screen there was no start capacitor. Same spot where one would clip in (plastic piece you broke) also could you explain how to take the back plastic cover off?
So will this work for a fridge that needs a start relay
Where can I buy that capacitor? I could not find the link you said in the video. Thank, your video is very clear.
In the description under the video click where it says "more" and you'll see it then.
Nice job. But that capacitor that came with the fridge is a run capacitor not a start capacitor and also I hope the starting capacitor has an inbuild overload , because the overload protector is very very important . 👍👍👍
Please show us how to fix the other issues such as freon.
So I have the same unit. I tried replacing just the oem starter relay. It gets a audible click with a din green flashing light. But the compressor fan isn't coming on. Before I try this part I was curious. Why does the bottom of the compressor get warm but still does not chill? Should I be investigating the compressor fan?
Is the condition for this issue is that the freezer seems to have no power? My looks like no power/ not turning on. Would this be the fix?
Pete, nice fix. Just thinking out loud. Your logo up top. Two people, two dogs and two roosters. Have you thought about adding your two cats? 😸😸
Hey great idea, maybe I'll do that 👍
Great Video My compressor started but it looks like you have bypassed the thermostat? Does the compressor run all the time with this fix.
Actually I just replaced the start capacitor, it runs normal and turns on and off as needed to maintain what ever you have the thermostat set to.
My freezer doesn't have a start capacitor. Will this fix still work?
