Thanks so much for the in depth review. Midway has them on sale right now, advertised with the timney trigger for $750! Im so bummed I can't afford it right now but I'm excited to get it when I can.
Sir, great review first off, how were you able to make sure the rifle you ordered came with the newer trigger system? All the ones I see for sale advertise the X Mark Pro trigger? Thank you for your time.
Got my sps in 6.5. This year (2024). Mine got the x pro trigger. thought it was weird but I don’t mind I was able to adjust it externally to much lower weight, feels great
I picked up a 700 varmint with a 26” heavy barrel for 675 in November and am worried it’s not a new update model but one of the clearing out the inventory models. Is there a way to tell if it’s a good one or not? Thank You for your time. Ps no Timney :(
Remington offers this rifle in 300 Blackout. I hope they will add a version in 6.8spc remington. Its a very nice cartridge especially for short barrels like 16inch. That would be fine. And a version in 6mm rem would be nice. They must offer more rifles in their own designed cartridges again.
Bergara puts out some really good stuff, but they copied Remington to do their actions. I have had a lot of great success with this Remington and the quality coming out is great. You get an MOA guarantee with Bergara if that matters to you. The Remington has tons of after market support as well. Tough choice, also the SPS is hard to get ahold of where the Bergara is on shelves.
Congrats on the rifle, and great review. I like these rifles because they are a great value and a solid foundation to use imo. I just hope viewers don't get the impression that they have been done a disservice if they don't get a Timmney trigger model. Nowadays the internet has convinced everyone that if you dont have a rifle trigger that is under 3lbs your rifle can't shoot accurately and it is junk.
Is there a serial number break to make sure your getting the updated version? Thank you for the video! I have been very interested in one of these for the reason you said in the video! Suppressed game rifle.
Hello, I’m about to order it with a muzzle brake too. But I need the barrel diameter just above the threads for the brake timing nut. Can you measure it for me please ? Btw, awesome review you made me chose that rifle 😊
@stevemccann6641 there are about 6 ot 7 other videos of me shooting the rifle please do check those out as I shot 9 or 10 different lots of ammo as well to check accuracy
@@scruffyarms I am a big Remington 700 fan. Back when the sps tatical first came out I bought one in 223, it shot really well even with the crap xmark trigger. I had it fitted with a benchmark match grade barrel chambered in 17 fireball, dropped a rifle basic trigger in it, with glass bedding it’s a 1/2 inch tack driver, killed a few hundred crows with also. Just wondered how that particular one shot, I will check out your other videos, thanks friend.
I keep hoping for a review of these current production 700 rifles that actually shows us what precision they’re capable of: shooting at a decent distance of at least 100 yards from a proper firm bench rest using top quality factory match ammunition into multiple groups consisting of at least five shots each. Alas for that hope. (Perhaps they are out there, but I have yet to find one.)
So the new model 700 308 that I got has been slightly modified. Previous owner threw it into a Magpul Hunter Chassis and put a bipod on it. I am very new to rifle shooting for groups. Off the bipod I got a 5 shot group measuring .44 moa, using factory Hornady Black 168gr AMAX.
I have a 20 inch... It's ok nothing more nothing less. I was looking online and saw the 16.5. It's selling at 1300$ up here and it's 400$ more than what I paid for the other one. I would like one but not at this price. Maybe a barreled action since I still have the original hogue stock somewhere! thank for the review.
The price went up after the Timney trigger announcement and then everyone entering the market copying thier action, kinda saw the writing on the wall for the price jump.
Yes I have several ammo test videos on this rifle. Feel free to look at all the .308 ammo test videos. It really liked the 165g Remington Core Lock Tipped.
Hello, I'm in the market for a Remington SPS Tactical in .308. How can I get one of the newer ones you mentioned? And how can I verify it's the one I want? Thanks in advance!
Hello! The easy way is to see if a retailer has one in stock. If they do you can do a serial number check to see if it was produced after July 1, 2023. Or if they are curious too, lift the receiver off the stock and you will see it. If you direct order one, then in your note during purchase, ask for the newer model.
Sorry if my enunciation is not to your preferences. As a person who has traveled the world, I assure you, that should not be a catalyst for likes or dislikes. I hope you have a wonderful day and can see a good side as well.

@GhostRider-kw7zi you can always ask Remington with the serial number. Outside that, the only want is the separate the barreled action and check

The sps aac sd tactical was after the bankruptcy and most of them were pretty accurate

I have this rifle in .308 with the 20” barrel. I have the Timney trigger. I’m very happy with it.
How would you compare the 5r Timney Sps to the Bergara Wilderness terrain in 308? I’m torn between the 2.

The bergaras action is much nicer.

I think that is a customer service call to Remington. I wasn't sure until I took the stock off my rifle.
Okay! Thanks for the info. Great reviews!

I’m currently looking for one of these and can not find anywhere. Did they stop making them??
Not to be a jerk, but I would not call this a full review without shooting it and showing the results of that test.

If you know the previous trigger you can tell the timney because it’s black and much less curved than the original.

Does it have the matte or satin finish?
Matte
Dude!!
It’s “ghillie green” as in “ghillie suit” not green chili 😂
You said "Hornaday". It's Hornady (Horn-a-dee). I won't watch your vids. That crap drives me nuts.

Waste of a 308 cartridge in a 16 inch barrel.
This rifle is pretty awesome and honestly for any hunting inside of 600 yards
lol how you figure?
Ordered mines from buds lets see🫡
