I think a Howa 1500 barreled action from Brownells and a krg bravo chassis would be a better and more cost effective build. I did find this video really interesting. Thank you for your hard work and good content.
I greatly enjoyed this video (and this series), HR, and I have also enjoyed experiencing your sequential enhancements to the factory 700. Without the slightest doubt, you have converted it into a FAR more accurate and FAR more customized - and therefore a FAR more satisfying - .308. I am sure the pleasure of upgrading this rifle will last forever.
I really enjoyed this series HR, you’ve turned a factory rifle into a much more accurate and a much more shootable platform. It looks great and at under 1500.00 I think it’s a good value. Enjoy your 700 HRF, looking forward to seeing more of it in future videos.
Good morning, HRFUNK and family. Happy Hump Day to you all there. This is a Cool build. Yes, I think now after I installed a muzzle break on my RIA VR80 shotgun. They work. I did what mark Leeber at A3G munitions told me to do if I'm a right handed shooter witch is clock the muzzle break to the 1 o'clock position. That also made I difference when running the shotgun fast. Then it'll be opposite if your a left handed shooter. Clock the muzzle break to the 11 o'clock position. That's for shotguns. Thought I'd share that information with you. Love this rifle build. Look forward to the range day video. My Springfield M1A socom 16 is shooting 💪👌. Just went over 400 rounds now. 0, issues. Fine! Rifle.
Thank you for calling it a muzzle brake and not a flash hider. So many times in videos individuals call them flash hiders. Thank you also pointing out the Leupold scope rings. I use a Leupold scope and these rings on my accurized M1A and like them very much.
Good morning HR. Looks like the project ended well and the rifle shoots nice tight groups. Customizing to fit your preferences may not be cheaper, but it is part of the fun. No Chewy in this video. He got a large response last time. He could be a positive addition. There's a pet groomer with with over 2 million subscribers, but she is cuter than you.😂
HR I joined the party late nice looking set up. I like FAB Defense products. I have the AR stock that holds a magazine. Two is one one is none .I have it on my 224 Valkyrie .
Yeah, I love the ergonomics of Magpul stocks but they're kinda stingy with sling attachments. While my Ruger American Hunter .308 came with the QD cups but on every other Magpul stock I have, you have to buy the QD cups separately. I guess that's how they stay budget friendly and besides, not everyone uses QD.
A great project and even better results. Thanks for taking us along on this journey of the Remington 700HRF. One of your commenters below mentions a muzzel break on a shotgun. That might be something for you to look into for us.
It's been a good and informative series build and thank you for your efforts. As you already found out there is so many aftermarket parts and accessories made for the R700 that you could almost fill up a semi with them, but it sure makes it nice for the rifle you want to build to call your own. I think its time for a head to head with your old service 700 and your new toy, and tell us what you like and dislike about each!
I'm not a rifle guy but you are changing my mind. A freak accident took part of my foot, I'm watching all of your videos. Pretty well stuck to home for at least a couple more months Thanks for these videos I've learned a lot
Love your series. I built mine as well but used the MC-3 stock (plastic version of the A-5)with badger rings and base. The MC-3 stock is nice its beefier and to me it is more rigid in hotter weather.
A point to note about chassis, I use the MDT stuff with my r700's, and have. few short action 700's, I just drop in a new scoped action and it's off to the races, 223, 308, 300blk, 6.5 CM, the Magwell fits all calibers in AICS/MDT mags, poly or metal.✌✌
@@hrfunk I got in when MDT first started up so I was at the 300$ mark for all aluminium chassis, they do have some really interesting chassis now for a few hundred CAD$, hunter series if I remember.
That’s definitely a upgrade for the rifle but not what I would have done , I would have used a Bell & Carlson stock a Warne steel rail and a Atlas Bi-Pod and the same trigger you used , the Leupold scope variable powers range from 6.5 x 20 or 8.5 x 25 trust me I have multiple Leupold scopes and just purchased a 4.5 x 14 in the Mark 4 line , it’s a good budget build HR
You're right. I misspoke in the video. The one on this rifle is an 8.5X25. I considered some more high-end upgrades, but I decided to go the more budget friendly route.
@@hrfunkit’s a excellent choice for optics especially when you don’t have to purchase one , I am in the camp of buy once and cry once that’s exactly what I did with my Remington 300 Win/Mag Sendero a MPA chassis with the Atlas Bi-Pod and a Timney Calvin Elite trigger and a Vortex 5 x 25 PST scope with Leupold Mark 4 rings
Thanks for taking the time, and making the effort, to produce this series of 'detailed' videos on your 700 'build'. Very well done and informative. I am about to embark on the same upgrades/modifications 'adventure' for a 700 SPS Varmint in 223 that I have had sitting in my safe unused for far too long (10+ years). I just did not like the 'out of the box' version that much, and thought that one day I will do some upgrades to it. Well, thanks to your series of videos that 'day' has come! Your choices, and rationale for making them, addressed all of my 'out of the box' concerns. Many thanks
Great series! 1:37 My question is, could you use the original metal spring hinge plate/ trigger guard with this magpul stock? Instead of using the magpul mag receiver that also looks like it doubles as a trigger guard.
I picked up an older 700 ADL and want to swap out the gun to a BDL with hinged floor plate but I see Brownells doesn't sell the conversion anymore. I don't want to go hog wild on it, but the BDL conversion and a new stock.
Im imagining the 700adl varmint barrel will always be a better first time purchase for a beginner at shooting range with a bolt action? I was looking at the sps but if this were a cheaper option I’d probably consider it
Would you consider doing a similar project with the Winchester Model 70? The Model 70 returned to using the Mauser action about 20 years ago when FN bought the company.
I like everything about the build, especially the emphasis on balancing budget with quality. As an aside, what are your thoughts on the Foxtrot Mike ranch rifle lower?
