  • This English video lesson will show you how to use my favourite English 'Weather' Idioms!
Idioms are difficult to learn because the meaning of an idiom is different to the individual meaning of each word in the idiom!
This video will help you learn and practice some new English idioms, including:
    - To feel under the weather
    - When it rains, it pours
    - Every cloud has a silver lining
    - Get wind
    - Come rain or shine
    - Have your head in the clouds
    - Lightning fast
    - Take a raincheck
    - Brighten up (your) day
    --------- TIMESTAMPS ---------
    00:00 Introduction
    00:25 What is an idiom?
    02:44 Weather Idioms
    03:16 Under the weather
03:55 When it rains, it pours
05:18 Every cloud has a silver lining
    06:14 Get wind
    06:52 Come rain or shine
07:42 Have your head in the clouds

PLEASE NOTE: I'm sorry! There is a small 'typo' (spelling mistake) for the idiom 'lightning fast'! This idiom uses the word 'lightning' ⚡️ (a noun) NOT 'lightening' (which is a verb)!! Sorry, my mistake! 😬

Thanks Emma, you've really brightened up my day with new idioms in my vocabulary. The idiom come rain or shine doesn't refer only to the weather situation that allows or prevents someone to do something. But it may also means whatever the situation that might happen, you're determined to do a particular thing or achieve a goal. E.g: come rain or shine i must publish my book this year.

I really love this video, it was very useful for me! I'm brazillian and I'm searching for diversity in my studies of English. One thing that came on my attention is some of the idios that you have there in Australia are very similar to some brazillian idioms! We have "cabeça nas nuvens", which is literally "head on the cluds", and the idiom have the same meaning! We have, too, the "brightened up the day"... And other idioms were completely new for me, thank you!
I really like to learn idioms or proverbs, because I think this kind of thing shows the culture behind the language.

The weather idioms, I have learned now in English are so interesting,
because there are lots of them with the same meaning in Swiss German. Thank you

I think that's the most interesting part about learning English idioms, Toni! There are often some similarities to idioms in your own native language that can help you remember them in English!
