  • WHY are PHRASAL VERBS so DIFFICULT to learn?
    - Because there are so many of them?
    - Because they are so commonly used that they can be overwhelming.
    - Because one phrasal verb can have multiple meanings
    - Many phrasal verbs are idiomatic, so their meaning is not always as the individual words suggest.
In this lesson, I'll share 6 tips to help you learn and use more phrasal verbs, including:
    - What exactly is a Phrasal Verb?
    - Is it transitive or intransitive?
    - Is it separable or inseparable?
    - They're just multi-word verbs
    - HOW TO find the right phrasal verbs to practice
    - Practice USING phrasal verbs... The right way!

That was an awesome class, Emma. As usual. I'd say that a very useful way to memorize phrasal verbs is by creating sentences that make sense to the person's life. By doing that, whenever you're speaking the examples you came up with earlier will pop up into your mind and that will make them stick.

*Great, stuff!* Phrasal verbs are like idioms, sometimes they don't make much sense. Sure, you can look them *up* , but try focusing on fewer to learn the ones you'll actually use! *Keep studying, guys!*

Thank you Emma ! I am really grateful to you for all what you are doing to help us learning English ! Actually I have some questions about get/got/got and get/got/gotten (in US I THINK) I don't remember that I've noticed it before (gotten, is somehow strange to hear) , second question is about subtle usage of English, things that we don't pay to much attention to when speaking or practicing our English : like using Gerund (ing even after "to") and something we use "ing" even when it is not a gerund , it might seem easy , but actually it is not at all, when speaking we mostly make mistakes without noticing that , so please make a video about subtlety in English , things that the majority of learners don't pay attention to . THANK you EMMA

At the beginning it was necessary to put furniture away since we needed more space to settle everyone down. When we finished eating and talking everyone helped to clean up the table.

      Fati Reg
To "look after" means to take care of someone or something. For example, you can say " I need to LOOK AFTER my younger brother", or you can say" I am looking after my friend's books".
To pick up means to "collect someone or something" forexample, you can say " I have a car, I can PICK you UP". Or you can say "PICK UP the phone please" or you can say" can you PICK UP the rubbish please?"

Emma, the best summary lesson on phrasal verbs I have taken part in. It is a cristal clear lecture. The grammar contents is not overloaded. You said what we ( the students) need to know.
Would you be so kind and prepare a lesson on searching the details about phrasal you have taught in this lesson. Thanks in advance.

I'm sure this lesson about phrasal verbs is the most likely explanation I've heard ever. I don't turn or lift my head in entire video. You've definitely highlighted Top most important issues regarding phrasal verbs. It's my burning ambition to use phrasal verb properly and naturally. As per your tips, I venture my journey of marking common phrasal verbs from the morning newspaper. I'll hopefully try to stick to your tips. However, It's my immediate reaction after watching your this lesson and It's also my 15th comment sequentially. I'm really looking forward to witnessing other valuable tips. By for now.
