      I have the new version of the 100-W 35 kW combi fitted since May 2021 , it is located in a loft and replaced a 15 year old WB 35 CDI , which had performed well but was reaching its end of life and did not have good turn down (8kW), the old WB operated using Evohome TPI control . I have the new Viessman operating on Honeywell Evohome opentherm with 10 zones . I selected the Viesssmann replacement because of the turn down to 3.2 kW and Stainless Steel heat exchanger, my alternatives I seriously considered were the Atag Economiser 35 , and Ideal Vogue but the turndowns could not match the Viessmann which makes best use of the Evohome opentherm (keeping it in lowest condensing temperature range) . I did look at Intergas and WB 8000 , but condensate will attack aluminium , which is why I wanted Stainless Steel. I eliminated the Veissman 200 despite its best in class turn down to 1.9 kW, but it is not capable of operating opentherm (I find that strange logic from Viessmann, best turn down with no opentherm functionality, WTF) . I use the Evohome app for heat settings in each room . I find the Vicare app useful to occasionally check the boiler is on and to occasionally check the system pressure (no more need to visit the loft), I have very slow pressure drop in the radiator/pipe system of 0.5 bar over 6 months (gas engineers may know if this is typical ?), it will be a simple pressure top up at boiler every 6 months which is not an issue for me . I watched my boiler installer commission the boiler , it was very quickly done and appeared simply executed , despite this being the first of the new (2021) version of 100-W he had installed . I have a spirovent deaearator and TFI compact filter on the system before the Viessman . I did get the installer to add sentinel x-100 inhibitor , but he informed me it was not needed by Viessmann . Although I am very happy with the performance of the boiler thus far there are some negative points to note : a) There is no longer a mini expansion vessel internally the feed water supply of the boiler (same as all other boilers now I believe ). b) I dislike that there is no longer a clear analogue pressure dial on face of boiler (there is a hard to read one underneath) .

      @@andrewkeep3142 if you want something cheaper but controlled over the Internet the shelly 1 can turn boilers on and off and you can program times etc and use existing room stat or you can use a temperature add on (i use this on a cylinder stat live digital temperature and temperature control although i still use a mechanical thermostat as a cut off as it needs internet connection)
      Its a cheaper way of connecting your boiler to the Internet.

    Hi Allen great video. Just a question as to why the air gap on condensate would be classified as at risk if the condensate trap itself should provide the seal for any flue gases. Is it because there is a risk of flue gas coming into the building via that air gap?

    • @AllenHart999
      @AllenHart999  2 роки тому +1

      Good question, On some of the older boilers the trap in the boiler wasn’t good enough, Flue gases could go down the condensate. Thanks.

    • @rayc1503
      @rayc1503 2 роки тому +2

      Air gap separation is definitely required if a condensate terminates into a rainwater drain. Or when any form of backflow of water could possibly occur. It's usually to prevent the combustion chamber backing up with rainwater or foul water.
      My taking on it was that and to prevent a vacuum taking the water out of the S or condesate trap. Which could again potentially breach part of the flue system. As the condense water is considered part of it.

Then another job where the boiler was the lowest connection to a 4" soil stack and the drains were blocked, all the sh#t had been forced backwards thu the fan and filled the boiler (mind , the burner had filtered out the solids!). I just put the case back on that one and walked away! The joys of being a manufacturers service engineer.

    I notice that combi boilers are installed with copper piping there. Not sure if that is the norm where you are located.
    In Turkey installers use PVC pipes and fittings because these make installation a breeze. Cheaper too.

When the boiler power is off is the diverter valve always in the DHW position (allowing the boiler water to pass through the steel plate heat exchanger) and only when a call for heat comes on does the diverter valve switch heating circuit i.e. is the default position of the diverter valve always for DHW.

    When we go on Veissmann website and enter serial number it says the boiler is 30kw version.

    • @edsheddy4369
      @edsheddy4369 6 місяців тому

      Answering my own question as I have got this installed recently in my house. The boiler can be noisy at high boiler modulation ratios and high pump speeds. Fortunately it can be tweaked to your house needs. Maximum heat output (modulation) can be reduced to reflect your house needs and pump speed can also be reduced if there no need for high flow.
      In my 3 bed semidetached property, I run max 55% modulation and 65% pump speed for heating. It’s then quiet enough so don’t even notice that it’s running.
      In hot water regime it always run at maximum capacities.

      The weather slate sitting on top of the tiles is good mate, could do with dressing down with the profile of the tile to stop wind from lifting it but it’s water tight, I’m talking about the bit when you slide it under the tiles. It needs supporting with lath so it will be level with the tile as it can drop down because it’s a flexible material and let water in. I’ve seen them leak many times

    Just a view Allen , 3bed 120 yo semi 875ft 2 days dec 21 88kw used gas . Latest rate 4p kw = £3.52p or £1.76p a day
    Versus a air heat pump max eff 3kw output to 1kw input at 21p kw latest rate !!!!!? = 30x21= £6 or £3 a day .
    Says it all does it not .
    A BIG CON .
