- Issue 1: Hum and grounding. Check out my in-depth video on that
Issue 2: Tremolo arm knocking
Issue 3: Setup, especially strings!
More info on Jazzmaster trem setups on the youtube channel "puisheen" and here: offset.guitars...
Adding the Staytrem bridge and much heavier strings improved the sound of mine considerably.
Great video
I don’t see where you addressed how to fix the Tremelo sleeve knocking. You only address how to stop the claw knocking.
Good catch XulSolarBand. I haven't figured out how to fix the trem sleeve. "The hammer trick" from Puisheen required buying a vise, and by the time the trem arm was bent enough to stop knocking, it squeaked something awful when I moved it.
Pulling the tremolo out of the body and squeezing the collar tabs with a pair of pliers also didn't work.
Fender AVRI jazzmaster tremolos have this same problem.
At one point I had taken plastic wrap/cling wrap, and if you just wrap a single layer around the trem arm (just a small piece where the knocking is happening), sometimes that works. Maybe I'll make a video for this trick.
I sure wish tape wounds were made for this.
waiting for mine to come in! got a late preorder so ill be waiting a while. i plan on hardtailing mine so no whammy noise for me
me too! im getting mine on Wednesday, hoping none of these issues are coming 🤞🏼
Waiting on mine too but they had a bunch of damaged / blemish units and wasn’t offering a discount so waiting for the next batch
the strings the squiers ship with are insanely thin. open low E doesn't withstand being picked without waving all over the place in pitch. crazy they don't just ship with heavier strings.
haven’t they switched to the fender 24-100 set?
Still fret buzzy at the end, why I can never bother with those the set ups are near impossible to make a quiet guitar.
Sell it to me ❤
Its a given that any Squier is going to need a little work coming from the factory.
