What do you think of these changes? I'm happy with them but wish it was more, ultimately understanding this is med-late transition focused content makes the plan a lot clearer. This doesn't mean colosseum will be easy peasy, just likely to scale well into the late waves but starting easy.
In what world is Blade of Saeldor mid game? You could buy full bandos+fang and that is mid game. Ironman accounts who grind CG early are the only ones I've seen with a BoS midgame.

I more excited for the pet than the actual item lol I wonder if it’s going to be as hard to obtain as the Nibbler or if you’ll be able to obtain it completing lower waves
I dont personally like perilous moon....BUT
I feel like since quiver will open up our ammo slot, now could have been a cool time to experiment with items that go in ammo slot (similar to ghommals penny).... i feel a nerfed perilous moon could have filled this slot.
if this content is aimed at mid to end game to HLC with scaling difficulty then there really is not much thats rewarding to the higher levels of play, its a little lackluster and imo needs 1 item to strive for and grind, glaive isnt that and the quiver is untradeable. If this is a design pillar "The aim is to really drive home the risk vs. reward element. Will you take your big pile of loot and gracefully drop out, or risk it all for the chance to wow the crowd and earn more Glory?" then the rewards do not achieve this at all
@@VornameNachname-hi8or Well there's no reason that this couldn't have solid mid-game upgrades and also something a bit more for people to grind for, I'm not sure what that could be exactly but I think it's a fair thing to ask for
Its funny how the new barrows has better upgrades than the colluseum
@@VornameNachname-hi8or But the whole original idea of the colosseum was to have an inferno-esque piece of content, just more beginner friendly at the early stages. There is a lot of upper mid game content and loads being released, so it's not like it's not being catered to

Their own pitch doesn't agree at all with you, if there is a steep difficulty curve, the rewards should reflect that curve
Not super up on DPS calcs, but how much of an upgrade is the assuming BIS range?
anybody got the calcs on what the scythe's improved DPS will be (all-inclusive % increase)?

One thing not being discussed, is they have hinted now at ranged being good for the colleseum as well as scythe. What if the boss or certain monsters in there have a max damage per splat cap like zulrah? This would make scythe better as each hit would effectively give it bis damage over a big hit stick, and also would make the glaive useful as 150% total hit over 2 splats would be better than a capped tbow hit? Just a theory

@@Yltimate_ oh I agree, it would just make the place feel bad because it's the new inferno, we want bis weapons to shine. But it's the only thing that makes sense based on their desires of making weapons that drop in a boss good at the boss
this is an interesting idea, capping damage at 50 for example even if nps are tbow weak means shooting from afar to get up close and personal would be more effective, but still allow the range hit to be high damaging on average.
idk if its a very feel-good mechanic though, but thats besides the point if it ends up working well.
@@aatykon they could make it so the creatures have "armor" so for a certain amount of damage the hit is capped, then as it breaks your max hit can become higher. Would fit the colleseum lore and aesthetic well imo
would love to see armor mechanics, with "heavy" weaponry being more effective. Nothing particularly wrong/broken/difficult to impliment about this and it's another side we're yet to see for combat.@@toddoxentenko277

I hate the guardian/echo change. The tok-xil and odium aren't going to see more use because of it, malediction BARELY. Fairly dead on arrival item. Guardian boots would have been useful to some extent for both med and high level players even if not as fitting thematically.
BIS pk shields,that recoil is huge
im happy as i had around 1.4b invested in the ward pieces for both shields so im estimating to easily tripple that to around 3b profit for doing nothing lmao this games so easy

What are your thoughts on scythe buffs? What do you think needs to be done to make it more on par with tbow/shadow? Is it designing more bosses around the scythes strengths or does the weapon itself need a buff to separate it more from other weapons it is competing with?
Needs more 3x3 slash weak, low def, high crush and stab Def
scythe buffs are very good, it is just now a case of more content where it excels.
Realy question is does balded moon accuracy buffs dragon dagger or aby dagger special, might make it better than claws
i think it does.... thats a terrifying thought, gonna bring this one up directly i think.
i know previous to this blog people figured out that it did. I don't imagine take -1 str bonus off changes that so much. same time, I imagine they could just fix that with a rebalance of dropping those item's slash accuracy a bit to keep it as stab primarily.

Sounds like this content is now mid-level content with gear rewards that are aimed toward mid-level gamers. Hope we actually get real end-game content + rewards this year.
Theres no way jagex make the colosseum, famous in all of history and storys for melee battles to be done with a fucking bow
The inferno gives bis melee cape and is 99% done with range, it only makes sense for the bis range cape to be done with melee. Plus they want more scythe uses so this is a perfect opportunity
they've stated it's more likely to be a hybrid/tribrid fight, thematics matter and personally i'd love a melee only thing but i don't think it will be.
@@aatykon honestly I’ll take tribrid, but if theres one thing the game needs it’s for the tbow to not be BiS at ANOTHER piece of end game content
i agree and want more scythe stuffs, but also range + melee works insanely well for high-level fight caves/inferno, and i suspect they're building off the assumption that it can be fun here too@@user-fp7to2hp3x
@@aatykon mmm yeah that is true, on the back of this, do you think it’s a good time to sell scythe+1b worth of general gear and get tbow with 100m spare? Or keep scythe n gear? Been debating for a while and if tbow does get use here, I feel like it’ll get close to 1.9-2b
@@user-fp7to2hp3x imo scythe surpasses 1b and pushed 1.1, 1.25 max if its good at colosseum.
I wouldnt be surprised if it drops from there, but it's also just up in the air if it is for whatever reason bad at colosseum.
tbow/scythe both look like good options to me, scythe is more volatile but thats an up/down possibliity as well.
The bladed moon is like a new belator ring, if it's supposed to be a mid-level item then it shouldn't be outperforming it. It might even be stronger than the avernic in a lot of places since so few npcs have low defence
Just praying this new rune is a good training method. Not like amethyst where it’s a high level activity for lower xp and not like blood runes where it’s an absolute hike to do the activity.
I feel like mid range magic is in a great spot right now.

I'm still a little confused about the intent of the glaive. If it reduces mage defense using a range weapon, where would this logistically be good at? Weak to range + high mage defense = tbow. Mid level mage defense + weak to mage = accursed scepter. It would need an insane drain for you to bring a range switch to drain a mob you want to mage because it has to surpass accursed scepter's drain
It reduces defense level based on the monsters magic level.
I'm still very disappointed that quiver only works with ammo from the quiver. If you're using bofa & bp it's basically just a cosmetic, unlike the Infernal Cape which is generally +1 max with any gear.
this is probably a large part of why they designed it this way. Bowfa and BP kind of have a stranglehold on mid-late game range setups. To the point where many players feel they don't have a choice, they have to do CG.
Bofa will still be bis pre tbow it just won't get a buff from quiver@@DeftIyRL
@@DeftIyRL a Ranged Infernal cape that the average person that complains about CG will literally never even sniff is not going to change that CG is a virtual must-grind for irons.
its still a +18 range accuracy and +3 range strength buff for bowfa

Honestly sounds like a melee challenge. If you're going to be within 3x3 of enemies, with a melee shield, to recoil damage in multi, you'll be scything. Which would shine in an AoE context.

Coliseum was supposed to be the blue inferno/inferno part 2 that we’ve been waiting for for literal YEARS. None of us were expecting or wanting it to be mid level content just like inferno isn’t! The fact that this is so accessible and the rewards are so tailored to mid game that at this point I have super low expectations for the quality and difficulty of coliseum now.
One unfortunate thing about bladed moon is that I've seen the people who did the math and the amount of slash accuracy on it is WAY more than 4 strength bonus is worth. For bossing if it is weak to slash you would basically replace avernic with the bladed moon. Whether this is bad because the stats are overtuned or that the avernic doesn't give enough stats for how hard it is to get is based on who you ask. Personally I wish that the bladed moon could be broken down and added to an avernic so it ends the debate but I don't think they'll do that given how much they really want to emphasize its accuracy. +30 ish slash is worth WAY more on the high end than 4 str.
I feel like, if that statistic about the average total level being in the 1400-1500 range is true, there will be plenty of people doing this content. GP/hr is obviously important, but the target audience here is the majority of the playerbase, no?
Why are you comparing the rewards to end game gear if this is for mid levels? There’s little to no use cases for end game content because it’s not scaled to be strong like end game gear.
I think it's fine since we need to know if they are actually viable as a cheaper alternative to end game gear or if they are just gonna be DOA
quiver is endgame, glaive is likely to have some endgame use, the high-end of the content is likely to be only dooable by endgame players.
any content rewards can impact any stage of the game, while its mid level focused it still scales upwards perhaps a bit like toa is endgame focused and scales down for accessibility.
Scythe p2 is still worse than shadow even with the rounding update and additional slash??? Wtfff
yes and this is also a non-factor in the price and use-case of scythe.
you wouldnt not bring a scythe just because it gets outclassed by a 8 way-mage switch in one specific part of verzik by 5%. (unless ur speedrunning for record)

I hate this whole thing so much besides Glaive, why are we getting noob rewards from the blue Inferno? How is this gonna be good GP? Echo crystal change seems trash those shields are still going to be dead content BUT if this effect is actually good then obby is only borderline usable with fang, odium would infringe on Buckler. I'm picking up 50 more BTCs on a discount - Surely this useless trash won't pass. To the Moon 🚀🚀📈📈 Bladed Moon is straight up insulting to ToB and all non-slash melee styles, steps on territory the Soulreaper should excel at as well. I bet the breakpoint at which Avernic becomes better is like
Disingenuous to claim new defender was made to fill in a gap between dragon and avernic defender. There is no gap to fill, avernic is barely an upgrade.
They also dismiss the overwhelming player feedback of changing it to crush instead, which they would normally gladly listen to.
Which can only mean they're releasing the defender with clear and targeted intent.
Either colosseum will have mobs weak to slash and they're trying to close the gap between whip and scythe for casual players or, my personal guess, they're trying to close the same gap but for ToB. ToB is still one of the least accesible raids despite being the most fun. I think this defender is their way to give casuals and midgame irons a damage increase at ToB.

Genuinely upset with these rewards. No one wanted this content to be catered to mid game and it’s just going to ruin it like every other pos mid game update they release. For something that’s supposed to scale up to inferno difficulty they gave it mid level boss drops. Genuinely terrible rewards. Reminds me of how they still don’t let you streak an awakeners orb so after you get blood torva it’s dead content. Love this game

Reddit runs OSRS. Reddit does give this impression to Jamflex.
Raids are 100% mid game with a high ceiling. People with a dozen or less kc are transitioning from that midgame to the end game. Trio cox VS solo cms are completely different ballgames.

I'd even prefer no rewards and just good gp/hr instead.
